New Here, Could Use Some Help

Hey all, my names Chase, from Henderson, NC. I've been lurking a while and decided to jump in finally. I've been smoking cigarettes for 10 years, cigars and pipe tobacco even longer. I'd like to make the change to vaping.

I'm having a hell of a time deciding on what to get and where to start. I'm sure i'm reasking old questions, but the search function and google have not been nice to me. I'd like to get some insight into a few of the candidates. A little more background, I currently smoke at least a pack of Newports a day. My girlfriend and I have been dabbling in RYO to save some money, but i'm leaning more toward vaping now. I've tried Mistic, Blu, and now a hacked Krave(i opened up the cart and dripped some Holy Grail, Holy Grape CBD juice).

Now for the choices, i'm staying on the low end of the spectrum to start. After reading, and reading, watching youtube videos, and reading some more, i'd like a variable voltage setup, but am open to non variable models.

Sorry, i can't post links apparently. We don't have many vape shops nearby, and the ones we do have, they aren't exactly the most trustworthy, or knowledgeable. Any help is appreciated and if you all have any other suggestions in my price range($5-$40), throw them out. I don't want to wait 6 weeks, so Fasttech is out of the question. I'd like to have a package in hand by this Friday(the 10th). Thank you all.

Check out got vapes, they're a great online vendor and part of the ECF community.

As far as hardware goes, dont sink your money into expensive mods until you know you truly want to stick with this. Maybe start with a variable ego battery (twist, spinner etc) and a clearomizer to start (probably one with the replaceable atomizer heads, those are popular now). If you decide you like it and can stick with it over tobacco, then you can consider looking into advanced mods.

Get Variable Voltage (twist or spinner), make sure to get replaceable coil tank (cheap that is a CE5).

---wish your budget was $60 then you could get an MVP and a protank 3, which would provide you a much more satisfying vape, and help get you over the cig craving quicker.

I hate to sound like a douche, but I was asking for any info on the pieces I listed, which are starter kits, under $40. That's the limit, a very strict one. Once I get some time in on that then I'll feel comfy spending more. I don't want to be one of these pretentious vapers on YouTube blasting folks for trying to save money or not wanting the newest flashiest gizmo. I appreciate the replies, but my limit isn't going to change. I just want off the tobacco, and want to step up from cigalikes.
I also want to use eliquid, ejuice, etc. I'm a tinkerer, so a cheap ego twist is what I want to start on.

I wasn't satisfied with the ego style batteries. If you are a pack a day smoker it will not hold you through the day before it needs to be charged. At which point I would sneak a smoke. I would recommend at least an iTaste vv device or iTaste mvp. These two devices allow passthrough which means you can vape while charging.

5 weeks ago I bought a $39 starter kit and very quickly moved on to an ego twist and mini nautilus much better vape. But still lacking the punch that smoking gave me. Bought a mech and am moving onto a box mod.

The twist/ego devices are basically all very similar. The twist are better because it lets you control voltage. If you can only afford to grab one of those pick the one with the highest mAh rating. Hopefully it also lets you control voltage. My personal opinion is that these devices will leave you wanting more. I wish I had known what I wanted when I started. I would have bought a box mod to start. Not for any douchey I want to look cool type stuff. But because the new ones let you get near mech mod performance while also being able to vape a kanger, nautilus etc.

So I told you what to get (by agreeing with Autobiog), and also told you that you will soon find that twist/spinners are barely a step up from a cig-a-like, and that you will soon wish you hadnt spent the money on an twist/spinner and had gotten something like a MVP with a protank3, even if that means waiting one more week to save that additional $20.

My suggestion for your budget... get a twist/spinner and CE5 tanks.

I have tried all 4 of the devices you listed, because 3 of them are essentially the same. Never tried any of those vendors for starter kits, I have bought juice from Mt. Baker and gear from MyFreedomSmoke, both are legit companies, didnt have any problems with them at all.

We got the Evod starter kit from Mt. Baker Vapor for my daughter's boyfriend. We had gotten our Evod kits from Vape Dojo a few months earlier. The benefit to a starter kit from Mt. My daughter and I (and now the boyfriend) really enjoy the Evods. Simple to use, easy to maintain. The coils can be cleaned and reused, and, if you are so inclined, can be rebuilt and rewicked to prolong life. Ego twists are a great battery to start with. It's what I started with and what I stopped smoking with. I'd suggest the My Freedom Smokes Advanced E-Cig Starter Kit with the eGo-c 1300mah and the Aspire CE5 BDC. You can buy 2 of each plus a charger for under $40. The reason for two is that you should always have a back up. That's very important. That way you can vape on one while the other is charging.

$40 is a pretty tight budget, but I think that set up will get you started. A 1300mah battery should last you most, if not all day, depending on how you vape. Once you get started vaping you can take some time and do some research on some more expensive gear you decide that's what you want to do.

I just thought of something else. How much trouble is a mechanical mod? I already have a couple of brand new Panasonic 18650 protected cells and a decent charger that I bought with a Solarforce flashlight. I'm already familiar with the safety practices with the batteries. Would I be over reaching to jump into mechanical mods? I'm seeing some clones that I could simply throw on a clearomizer and get going.

I have ordered from the first 3 vendors on your list, they are all good vendors. Not familiar with #4.

That said, I'd also recommend getting a vv battery. If you don't have to have an eGo-class battery, start with iTaste MVP2--it's box-shaped, but it's a great battery and it can be had for 40 bucks. I use mine all the time. Add a few Kanger clearomizers and you're golden.

Nothing wrong with a 1300mah Ego battery for stepping up from a cig alike, I still use VV EGO's and EVOD2's for my out and about Vape. That said for $10 more you could get a mvp2 Starter Kit. If Vaping does not work out it should be easy to sell it, as they are well know and liked.

Based on your budget of $40 you're not going to find a mod and atty that's worth a flip.

Speaking from experience there really is a large learning curve. I think that's why so many recommend the beginner experience: start with eGo type/ce4 or 5, move up to advanced atty like Protank or Nautilus, upgrade to vv/vw with any number of mods, get into RBAs, then move to mech mods.

The information about battery safety alone is quite mind boggling. For instance, without having any more information about your battery I'm going to assume it has a max 10A current discharge rate.

I think you are on the right track by picking one of the four choices from your OP and beginning your Vaping journey from there. I suspect you'll buy an upgraded atty from there and spend lots of time on ECF! Good luck and let us know what you got and how it's going!!!

Well, I went with the Ijoy Ego-c vv 1300mah battery with an Aspire ET Clearomizer and a charger. I've already got a couple bottles of ejuice i picked up locally. I may be getting ahead of myself, but I think I made a mistake buying from MFS. I paid for two day shipping when I placed the order yesterday, hoping to get it before Friday morning when we go out of town for a drag race. Unfortunately my order wasn't actually shipped until the end of business today. Tracking is saying I won't get it until Friday afternoon. I also sent a message asking a question Saturday afternoon and no one has responded.

I plan on upgrading to something better after I use this setup for a while. I was hoping to find something used, but everything i've found for sale is way out of my price range. I'm not looking to turn this into a hobby, just something to get me off analogs and keep my sanity in the process. Thanks for your advice, I wish the search function worked better, I probably would have picked a different clearomizer. But, i'll give it a shot.

Actually both mt baker and myfreedomsmokes were recommended. I tried searching for negative feedback, but the search function here is finicky. I went with mfs because they are located in NC, about 3 hours from me, and they had a more newb friendly website and it was easier for me to figure out what I was getting and the starter kits let you mix and match instead of just a limited selection of blister kits and such. I communicated my concern over shipping time via the mfs comment system. If that doesn't get a response, I'll call them tomorrow. This is one reason I hate online shopping, the anticipation of shipping. I'm also waiting on a radiator for my car and that's tearing my nerves up bad enough. I just hate that I paid extra for express shipping and I'm getting regular shipping. Oh well, lesson learned.
