Hello to all the helpful and knowledgeable ECF people! First a little about myself. I started vaping in July when I bought a KR808D-1 starter kit with prefilled cartomizers (and I overpaid, I know that now). I wanted to end a 25 year long bad relationship with Marlboro Reds. So the day prior to getting my kit I'm blazing through @ 2 packs per day. The day after I received my kit, I smoked 5 cigarettes total (on second thought, the money was well spent). Fast forward two weeks, cigarettes taste like car exhaust and I'm using mint flavored vapes to wash the taste out of my mouth. I looked at my half full pack of smokes and said "It's over between us, I've found somebody new!" Now my relationship with vaping has grown to include fluxomizers, juices and a collection of drip tips (knowing I don't drip, there's just so many pretty ones and I feel so "old Hollywood" while using the on my fluxes).

So to the point, I want to move this relationship to the next level this Christmas and I want help deciding between two of the infinite possibilities. 1. GLV - these seem to get great reviews, are pretty, and to be honest GLV is a local company and I'd like to support local business, and 2. Provari - this thing does everything but I fear it may be more tech than I can put to use this early in the game.

So help me out, if you were me, what would you ask Santa for? I could also use a superior RY4 as a stocking stuffer, so any opinions on that front would be awesome as well. :)

Heyas Psyhe,

First off, let me say I don't own a provari or a glv. But of the two, it seems like the provari would be the better pv. Variable voltage is a wonderful thing! Instead of the search for the perfect carto/atty, you just adjust the voltage to whatever you're using.

The only offputting thing about the provari for me (other than the price tag) is the way the controls are described. Press the button 6 times to start changing the voltage, then press the button repeatedly to cycle through the 28 different voltage settings. Like I said, I haven't used one, and they ARE very highly spoken of by their followers, but the whole press-the-button-up-to-thirty-plus times to change the voltage thing just seems like a pita to me.

In the same price range, the darwin seems like it would be more convenient. It's variable power instead of variable voltage, but the adjustments are made using a wheel. However, the darwin seems to be in stock for about half a day every few weeks, and is propmpty sold out.

This is all from reading about them though. No first hand experience with either.

I do use an infinity pro (vv tube mod) and love it dearly. Have a buzz pro on the way from the same company. But, as you asked about the provari and glv, I won't go any farther in singing the praises of the mods I do have experience with.

:D

I'm sure owners of both the provari and the glv will soon chime in with responses.

Happy hunting and merry christmas Psyche (love the name, btw),

If you are looking for a very affordable and easy to use mod i suggest checking out vapecore.com and looking at a ShanB piece. She does really nice work, is known and liked throughout the commmunity as a stand up gal, and you can get a really nice looking vv box mod for a great price. She stands behind her stuff and i havent seen a single negative comment about faulty work. You can also check her youtube video's if you want to see a few examples of what she makes. Her mod itself is called The Splash. Hope it helps

I have used both and they are both great. I recently sold my GLV as the provari does everything and much more than the GLV. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to operate it at first too. But, it takes about 3 minutes to figure out. I wish I had spent the money and got a provari from the start of my vaping. It would have saved me alot of money buying other pvs looking for the next best thing. For me, the Provari is the best thing. Good luck. Jenn

Thanks Maximillian for the compliment and Merry Christmas back atcha! BTW, I had forgotten about the BuzzPro! It does comes in purple. They took down all the pretty wood-type ones though. I wonder if they'll come back.

Also I think Jenn kind of expressed what I had in the back of my mind, that no matter how I go for Christmas, eventually I'll end on a Provari. I haven't seen anything else that does more and if it takes 3 minutes to learn how to use it... how could I go wrong. I was afraid it would be like my first smartphone, 100 different capabilities and after 2 years I'd only really used 3.

Thanks everyone for the input. I've picked up some more sites to peruse and ponder. I love vaping! Smoking was just so boring I don't know how I did it so long!
