Having gone through the 510 then an upgrade to a Riva/Ego style and then mods, the Riva/Ego is still my most used pv. They are very versatile, the batteries last all day and have a good long life.

I started with 2 kits (4 full e-cigs) and rotated them for almost 8 months of constant use. I have some very nice mods and still use my Riva or Ego the most. With it you can use carts (what it comes with) drip tips or Cartomizers (attomizer/cart combined). It is a big enough battery to use low resistance atomizers (hotter vape) and not shorten the battery life.

I get almost all my hardware here look for the Riva lite bundle, then a few drip drips, then look for a 5 pack of cartomzers and don't forget to get some juice , best of luck and enjoy the journey and welcome to ECF

This is the best advise you will get. We were all overwhelmed in the beginning. Read before you spend those $$$. See if you can find a local brick & mortar vendor so you can see different models you may want and compare before you waste a lot of money.

Hi....I felt exactly the same as you do. I've been vaping since July 20, and I've learned a lot. At the beginning, it seems like the more I read, the more confused I got. I couldn't decide what kit, where to get juice, and I got a little intimidated. If I could advise, I'd advise a good starter kit like the RIVA 510. It'll give you something to learn on, and could very well be all you ever need. Just depends on how far you want to go with it all...
I'm mixing my own juices now, and find that homemade juice is SO much better than the premixed that I bought.
Just do some research, buy a kit, get started, and learn more as you go....

Welcome to ECF.

1) I started with e-cigs while still using cigs... so I switched over as I got over the learning curve. No reason to have to immediately cut over (like yesterday) although your enthusiasm is commendable. Make sure you find a combo and juice that works for you so you don't get stuck in a "all or nothing, but I have issues" situation. Then if it doesn't work, you set yourself up to "fail". Set yourself up to succeed and make sure you get the mechanics worked out.

2) We need more information to help you. What's important? Battery life, size, flavor? Like was said above...read read read. Also, your opinions may change over time. Cig-sized e-cigs may be important to you. Or cig-like taste. After a while, you could be vaping a big square box mod and blueberry-pie e-juice. Who knows? Take some time to read and research, weigh options, and decide. We'll help you through all the mechanics.

Welcome again. Good luck!

I think you will need something with a bigger battery. Stay away from the cigarette looking devices. They are good for light use or in specific environments where you don't want to draw attention. I would go for a 900mah ego passthrough kit. I have many mods and devices and the tried and true ego is the one I use everyday. Battery lasts me all day, which once you start using these you will know is a must. The other thing you will need is cartomizers or atomizers. I recommend cartos, but others swear by atty's.

I would get a 900mah ego passthrough kit. (get one that includes some atomizers to try) stay away from the ego-t tank system. In my opinion it doesn't work.

Buy some boge 2.5ohm cartomizers to give them a try.

Buy 5 or so different juice flavors in small 5ml bottles to try and find one you like and get some more. (start with 18-24mg strength to start. Then drop to a lower level if you can.)

After this start you can go whatever direction you want. This will give you a good device that you can try with the many different options available. Having a solid device is important. Once you have the device as a foundation exploring juices and atty's and cartos will be how you zero in on what works best for you.

Welcome! I just got in a DSE-901 a day ago. It's looks nice, hit's very well. I haven't had 1 cigg sence. Here's a link to my 901 review...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/dse-901-b-mini/210342-my-sleek-901-here-woohoo.html

It didn't break the bank either.
I still have an NLA set-up w/ 4 new carto's I'll toss your way, loan, if you need one to start with. It's a cheapo 510, NLA, but has 4 cartomizers, 2 batts, a usb charger & I have a lil vg juice I can send. I was going to trade or sell but no luck, so I'm glad to loan out.

Before you rush off a buy whats been told here, I recommend going to the ECF Library and get to know e-cigs a lot better. Then you can make a better informed decision when you do make your first big purchase. Also if you stick with the suppliers listed on the main page you won't go wrong.

Well put...

Edit: Thought better of my comment... There's some good advice here, but definitely stick to the recommended suppliers...

Very well stated, BardicDruid... I don't bite my tongue often, but I didn't want to make a sweeping generalization about the many fine comments here... But beware...

I can actually picture that advice coming from your avatar!

The other thing I would advise you on is get the manual e-cigs/mods, whatever. When I first started vaping I almost gave it up using the automatics. It controls the way you vape-I.e time limiting. The auto ones cut me off way before I was done. With the manual batteries you mainly have the control. To me that made a big difference. Good luck!

I'll go against the grain and say dive in head first. You can read yourself silly in the forum. You're revved and ready now. That's half the battle. Let's go do it! You have a world of help here backing you up as you have questions.

For less than the cost of a carton of smokes you can have a kit with enough power to keep you vaping for months, some cartomizers to get you started and 18-24mg nic juice. Most people don't get enough satisfaction from a cigarette-sized ecig. You can't go wrong with an Ego, Kgo or Riva. They're all pretty much the same- called 'fat batts'. If something the size of a Sharpie pen is ok with you, this will probably be a good fit. Kgo packs a little more power and the battery lasts longer. It's 39.95 for a kit at hoosierecigsupply and breezesmokes. Egos and Rivas are good also, slightly shorter battery life and a little less voltage. Liberty Flights has them for about the same price.

I like these vendors because you can get everything in one stop
Kit
Cartomizers
Juice

It's not rocket science. It just seems like it when you're first getting started and don't know the jargon. Good luck to you.

Two suggestions:

1) An ego or ego clone.

Great battery life, manual button for drag control, solid tough and a great starter. You can get these anywhere. Welcome to MadVapes LLC is a great site and they have tasty juice. I'm a huge fan of melon explosion. The ego was enough power for me to stop smoking and enough battery im not worrying about it dying.

2)The volt

smokelessimage.com . Easy to use. No button so you drag just like a cigarette. It looks like a cigarette but there's an LED on the bottom that glows and they are black. The downside is low battery life but you can get a PCC (Personal Charging Case) that charges the battery and holds a fully assembled unit. They have flavors to choose from and cartomizers pre filled so no hassle.

GOOD LUCK!! :) :) :)
