So, when Kanger changes to the spring-loaded 510 in July, different RDAs and RTAs should fit and make a connection much more easily, yes? But I'm wondering if the subtanks will still connect properly, or if they will have to alter their pins as well...
I'm thinking the spring loaded 510 will solve connection issues with all tanks/rda's.

I don't think so, the Zephyrus has a 'floating' center pin and it causes the ohms to jump around on my coolfire 4 which has a spring loaded 510.
I do believe in certain situations the spring pin could have it's drawbacks. My only experience with them is on the SX Mini. Should have re-worded that as most tanks/rba's

Also, Kangertech did a really clever job on how they affixed the 510 receptacle. I was pretty impressed, but it's very proprietary. I was thinking maybe dissection of the one in your link and adapting the springy bits to the Kanger one.
Interesting idea!

Don't the subtanks also have a floating pin?

They do but they fit very tight in the grommet. So tight that some spring loaded 510 mods wont push them up enough to make good contact with the occ or rba. Since I started pushing the floating pin in as far as possible after attaching my rba I have not had any more issues with res changes on my STminis.:)

Edit: should have mentioned that the res changes were only .02-.04 ohms and that's too much for a temp control device. With a vw device like the kbox it's insignificant.

I moved my Zephyrus from my Sigeli 150W to my Subbox for this very reason. It would jump around from .5 to .9 and give me burnt hits all the time. Works far better on the Subbox so far.

Yep, spring loaded 510s are awesome with fixed center pin atomizers...on stuff like the Zephyrus they don't work correctly.

Truthfully a standard needs to be created for the 510 connection and adhered to by all manufacturers.

How did the 510 itself become standard after Ego connections? Just seems like such a small and fragile diameter.

This is my concern, though. If the subtank has issues with spring-loaded pins... And the subox mod is being changed to a sping-loaded pin....?

Perhaps the give in the spring will be fairly rigid? I can't imagine they will want to change all of the tanks over to adjustable pins in order to compensate for it (although I wish they would), so I wonder how that is going to work out.
