You may be trading one habit for another, but vaping is way better for you than analogs (cigarettes)! I believe you've already received some good advice on what to start out with. I started with cigalikes, and found it frustrating. When I switched over to a eGo Twist-C, and a good tank, things suddenly got better for me.

I now make my own juice (DIY), but I suggest you get into it for a while before you go that route.

Lots of great success stories here! And here's one more...

I quit cold turkey the day I started vaping, using an eGo with 18mg liquids. That was three weeks ago, and I don't miss cigarettes at all (and I was a half- to full-pack a day smoker for nearly 30 years.) I quit smoking twice in the past 10 years using Zyban, but even during my longest quit-streak (nearly two years) I still missed the hand-to-mouth and inhalation/exhalation action of smoking. My e-cig gives me that without anywhere near the health risks. I don't think I'll ever go back to analogs...and I'll probably never quit vaping, either, though I may eventually switch to nicotine-free juice.

Brand new member here. Nice forum! I was a 1 to 1.5 PAD smoker for 40 yrs. I've tried to quit several times (cold turkey) w/no success. Now I've only been vaping a little over a week, but I left analogs as soon as I started & am not suffering any of the symptoms I did before. I really believe I've found the combination of prayer & e-cigs to never go back to tobacco.

ok back again. I decided instead of the provape to buy local and ended up with a E Go c twist. I figured it was a good compromise and a good one to start with. Found a local place called Pink Spot Vapors and what a great bunch of people! I got there 6 pack sampler and went to town. Problem is I am having a problem weaning myself from the analogs. Been at it 2 full days now and have cut way back. BUT.. Just cant seem to put them down. Honestly not even sure I am vaping right. If I inhale the vapes I instantly go int a coughing fit. I have always inhaled the analogs! Even a little inhaled vape is to much. Any advice? They started me on 24mg nic with this batch as I was smoking 1 1/2 to 2 packs aday.

Advice please?

I would like to hear from some of you that have quit smoking by using ecigs and how it worked out for you. Did you quit smokes cold turkey with vaping?
I bought an eCig hoping to cut back on smoking as I had given up believing I could quit. 1.5 PAD for 32 years. 2 days later I was smoke free.

What mg of nicotine did you start with. what ecig did you use.
24mg

I am sick of the smokers hack and everything else that goes along with it. (does the hack stop with vaping?)
Yes. My wife said I stopped wheezing at night after 3 weeks. "I wheeze?" (Not anymore).

I have been looking at the ProVari and dont really care about the cost. BUT it is so confusing trying to figure out what accessorys I need. I just want to quit smoking and if I continue vaping then I can get all the wazoo accesories!
Provari is a nice quality, don't need another kind of PV. You will also need something to go on top that holds your juice and heater (atomizer). There are many carto tanks that would both look good, and work well on a Provari.

Thanks for listening,

Steve
You bet.

There's nothing wrong with starting with an eGo-C. I started with a cigalike, and it didn't do me any good. After switching to a Twist, and a tank system, I was finally able to give cigarettes up. As far as putting down the cigs. Take it one day at a time. Many people here didn't quit overnight.

Several people cough a bit when they first start. Don't worry about that either.

I smoked a PAD for over 40 years. I quit cigarettes, and now I don't even like to be around them. They stink too bad!

Again, one day at a time!

Also new to the forums and fairly new to vaping in general. I started vaping 5 weeks ago and haven't had a cigarette since. This, for me, is nothing short of a miracle. I smoked for 30 years and have tried, and failed, many times using a wide variety of methods. This is the only thing that has worked for me, and it is working very well. I do not miss smoking. Again... a miracle.
It was my intention from the beginning of this vaping 'experiment' to gradually step down the nicotine in my e-juice and then give up the vaping, as well, but I have found that I enjoy it so much, that I think I may continue even when the nicotine monkey is off my back. I just invested in a new Joyetech eVic, so I guess I'm pretty much committed now :)

One of the best things about this whole experience has been the supportive community. There is a vast wealth of information out there on vaping and it's great to have such a strong community willing to provide advice and support and answer questions. Good luck to the OP and to all who are freeing themselves from tobacco enslavement!

Vaping is different then inhaling an analog. When I smoked a cigarette as I took a pull of a cig, I inhaled at the same time. With vaping, Take a slow pull first, 4 to 5 sec. once vapor is in mouth, then inhale. I had the same problem when i started. There is an actual thread that goes over the whole inhaling vapor issue. I will try to find and repost here. You can also use the search bar here at the top of the home page and search this issue. let us know how this method works out for you!

It takes a little getting used to... I actually vape pretty much the same way I smoked: a mouthful at a time, inhaling from the mouth once I've finished the draw. There were a few times in the beginning, though, when I'd inhale a bit too fast and a lung would end up on the floor, but you can push 'em right back in.

24mg is probably a decent place to start. If it feels like it's hitting you a bit hard, you can always cut it down next time.

Pink Spot makes some really good stuff. One thing I have noticed, though, is that they're not the smoothest juices in the world. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it might contribute to the coughing a bit before you've adjusted to it. What's the PG/VG mix? The more PG, the more you'll feel it in your throat (what people call "throat hit"), and the more likely it is to make you cough if you suck down too much too fast.

Since you have a Twist, you can also try dialing down the voltage a little. That should smooth things out somewhat.

Nice choice on the Twist. I hope you got two. Remember, one to use while the other is charging. And always have a backup. ;)

You don't have to quit cold turkey, but do try to limit your analogue use. It's not the ones you smoke, but the ones you didn't. When you get the craving, vape harder. If that doesn't work, allow yourself a half of a cigarette. Save the second half for next time. Pretty soon those cigs are gonna be tasting REAL bad to you, and you won't feel like lighting another one up.

The coughing with vaping is pretty common with beginners. Vapor is different from smoke. It took your body a while to get used to the smoke before you stopped coughing. The same is true with vapor.

It's actually not necessary to inhale the vapor to get your dose of nicotine. The nicotine in vapor is absorbed in the mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, and nose. Use the vaping technique described by the previous posters; whether to inhale or not is up to you.

It's wise to exhale some of your vapor through your nose. Your taste buds have been damaged from years of smoking. The sense of smell actually accounts for a large part of our brain being able to distinguish flavors. So exhaling some vapor will allow you to better "taste" your e-juice flavors.

When I started vaping I quit smoking immediately and I still have not smoked over 3 years later. I had to start on 36mg and I stayed there for over a year; the 24mg just didn't cut it for me. Nowadays I vape 12-18mg - mostly 12mg. I'm planning to move that down a notch by summer, to 8-12mg.

When you inhale, do it very slowly. Hold it in your mouth for a minute, then pull it into your lungs. It's a bit different from smoking but you'll get the hang of it soon enough.

Also, the PG/VG mix may not suit you. High PG means more throat hit, like you get from strong cigarettes. I started out at 100% PG. Nowadays I use a 50/50 mix because flavor is more important than throat hit to me now.

I Just got the Joyetech eVic. I absolutely love it. I rock all sorts of juices on different resistances with amazing results. very easy to use if you want a top shelf product with great options.

I've been drooling over the eVic for almost a week now. I love techie gadgets and this is just way too tempting for me :)
