Hey guys,

Smoker for 10 years, switched to vaping about a month ago thanks to my innokin t22. This forum has been very helpful.

I'm currently happy with the t22, and mtl vaping, but have been looking for something different to add. What I am looking for...
-Saw a thread about the temperature of coils above 420/450 as being high in carcinogens, and know that I get a harsh taste because I chain vape and believe I am exceeding those (I know to change coil, harsh taste from me going to heavy). Can I get a temp control box and still use t22 coil head? If my thinking is wrong with temperature please let me know.
-Also interested in dipping into the DL vaping, so want a box that would be able to use my t22 top but also something like a baby beast atomizer as well. This is all a little overwhelming.

I've found something noob friendly that I think would work and is cheap. Would this be good? Should I not get the atomizer and just the battery portion (17.99 vs 13.99)?

Joyetech Cuboid Mini Full Kit

I haven't seen great reviews on atomizer, but at the same time can't find a good deal on an atomizer that has nothing but positive reviews. Any simple/solid atomizers for DL that I should be looking at (replacement coils)?

Hi and welcome. Innokin's website does not inform me what wire is in the T22 coil. Therefore, I do not suggest you try it on a TC mod. For TC to work, the wire has to be of a specific type, usually Ni200, Ti or SS. (There have been some mods out there supposed to do TC with KA1 or NiCr wires, but I don't know anything about them.)

There has to be a MTL tank out there with plusohm coils using TC wire, but I don't vape in that range, or use drop-in coils, or use TC, so I am hesitant to suggest anything. Hopefully somebody who does know will be along in a bit. Welcome to the board.

There aren't many factory coils that are the tc resistance wire types. You need to look for one's which have Stainless Steel resistance wire... there are a couple but definitely fewer and further between.

Many use RTA's and build their own coils.

It's a HUGE leap to go from MTL vaping (what your now doing and happy with) to Direct Lung (DL) vaping. Just a warning on that point... it's a HUGE leap.

Because of the above point, I believe the aspire triton tank will do a restricted lung vape and you can buy tc capable coils for it.

Crown tanks get good reviews. As far as I know the only TC coils for the Nautilus 2 would be the aspire triton MINI ceramic coils. I haven't heard there was a nickel coil, but it may be out there, but I haven't come across it in my travels.

I believe Vapresso does a EUC 0.5 titanium coil that can be used in TC mode, there are several tanks that will take that coil, not just Vapresso ones. That may be an option as well..

Best of luck, and yes my understanding is that you can use the T series tanks on other mods and become able to adjust the wattage, but I don't believe they make TC capable coils. You can run them in wattage mode though.

It gets really complicated at times which coil will do what, and often the manufacturer's specs on their home page can be the best place to start, since things do change, sometimes rapidly.

Best of luck in your search!

Welcome and glad you joined.
Could consider building your own coils, you can build to match any mod (MTL/DL for clouds and/or taste). If you can bend a paper clip you can build your own coil.

The Crown coils are ss. @Baditude is a fan and can give you more info. The OG Crown is a good crossover tank.
I've used the original Uwell Crown tank exclusively for nearly 2 years. Actually, I have three of them. It has the following options in pre-made wire coils:

  • 0.15 ohm Ni200 nickle coils for Temp Control
  • 0.25 ohm stainless steel for Power mode
  • 0.5 ohm stainless steel for Power mode
  • 1.20 ohm stainless steel for Power mode
I've used all except the 1.25 ohm. My personal preference are the 0.5 ohm.

Authentic Uwell Crown Sub Ohm Tank Clearomizer . Technically it is a sub-ohm tank, but you don't have to sub-ohm with it. It has 1.2 ohm coils available for it as well as sub-ohm coils. It is an easy top fill (4ml capacity).

It has a ratcheted air control ring which allows wide open direct-lung draws down to a tight mouth-to-lung draw. It has a wide bore mouthpiece, but you can always replace it with any inexpensive small bore mouthpiece if you desire. Great flavor, a lot of vapor. Very versatile for just about any style of vaper. Tanks are available in black or stainless steel.

I never bothered "upgrading" to the Crown 2, 3, or Valarian models. My mindset was "If it ain't broke, why fix it?" I'd also read very mixed reviews with the followup models.

If you have further questions I can attempt to answer them.

Would add that the ss coils for Crown can also be used in tc mode and power mode.

I can't actually vouch for that. Mike Petro remarked in this thread Question about tempature

"I dont have a Crown 1 but here is what I have read about them:

"Hey guys. I've been noticing a trend amongst new vapers with the Uwell Crown. They think that because the regular coils are stainless steel that it should be used with TC. While this is true, the coil heads on the Uwell Crown have stainless steel coils with nickel legs, meaning that because two different metals are used TC isn't an option. The mod wouldn't be able to read the temperature change well and would mess up. The coils are best used in regular power mode, and I've had no problems doing such.

SS coils on Uwell Crown are made for power mode, not TC."

Many have had success using Crown ss coils in tc mode. I used my OG in tc a few times myself.

Thank you very much everyone, like most things vaping I have quickly realized this will be a lot more complicated haha. Was a shame that I found that thread on temperature control and the overheated coils having carcinogens - I was very happy not knowing that! I can't believe how easy it was to switch. Was a little over a pack a day and have had only a few times where I had a trigger to go to the garage for a smoke and realized that I was now vaping.

This is good info to get me going in the right direction to see which route I'll go. I'll follow these leads. Thanks for the warm welcome!

You might want to look more into that. Some of those studies are ran on using wire with no liquid/cooling (from inhaling), and just straight dry burning.

Some of them have to do with using different kinds of wire, like titanium or nickel which are dangerous when oxidized.
