Hello all,

I'm new to the board, after lurking for about a week and a half. I'll give you a brief history on my e cig history and hopefully I can get some direction on what I'm looking for to break away from analogs (I picked up on a bit of the lingo, but confused about others).
In January 2011, I bought a kit from Green Nicotine at my local kiosk and it was OK. It didn't feel the same as the real thing, and honestly, the charger was cheap. Then today, I wanted to try a disposable to jump in before I decide on what kit to buy. BIG MISTAKE! I bought Two Blu disposables, one of each flavor, and they were both defective.

Ok, so now that I got that out of the way, I'd like to ask for some advice. I've been reading reviews on different styles and looking them up, and frankly, it's very overwhelming. I think I'd have the most success with a product that produces decent vapor. From what I've gathered, I guess that means I need a decent battery. I'm just confused as to what everything means. I keep seeing ego, 510, 905, and other things that confuse me.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is hello, and any advice you could offer would be great! I find the fluid set ups intimidating, but if they would fit my needs, and are relatively easy to set up, I wouldn't be apposed to those. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to ECF, Slabb! Folks here are more than happy to help, you came to the right place!!

Here's my opinion, because I did it this way and it worked for me. I've been quit about 6 months now. I bought an eGo-C (the twists were not available at the time, but it didn't matter). Don't bother with a kit, just get you a couple of eGo-C batteries, or a couple of eGo twists. You'll need a charger with the eGo-C's, but the twists come with USB chargers. Then buy two or three Vision Clearomizers, the new version that you can take apart and clean AND replace the atomizers, which is cheaper than replacing the whole tank.

Then all you need is juice! :)

This is the cheapest and best way to go for a beginner in my opinion. I bought this very same setup for my brother and SIL on their birthdays because it worked so well for me. I'm moving up to a Provari now, but those little eGos will stay in my bag for backups.

PM me if you need more info or links. Happy to help!

the best way for now is an ego type battery and 510 thread. ego is a type of battery, 510 is the connection on the inside end of this battery style, and the EGO thread is the thread on the outside of this type of battery (hence the name) both styles will attach to an EGO style battery.

One thing that would help maybe is if you were a smoker what and how much did you smoke?
Do you want loads of flavor and vapor?
Do you want a big or little nicotine hit?
Do you want a Throat hit?
Do you care if the PV is big or do you want something pen sized etc.?
I was a cigars smoker and inhaled so I started way up on the nic level and size was not my biggest concern.
I started with an Ego Twist variable voltage 1000mah battery. I started with the Ego C type B atty's and clearos. Now I'm using Clearos like the CE5 repairable and the Vivi Nova full and mini. I went up to a really expensive and large APV called a Provari. You don't sound as though you need that.
Some things that will help.
mah is Miliamp hour. It is how long the battery will last at a certain usage level. The bigger the number the longer between charges.
Volt and ohms. Volts are electrical pressure and ohms is resistance they combine into watts. Watts are the key to vaping. To high and you burn your juice to low and you don't get much vapor. Most run between 4-8 watts. Here is a chart to help with that calculation.

The type of atomizer depends on your needs. I like the clearos others who change flavors often like the cartos.
I'm going to cut this off here so as to not overwhelm you with info.
Hope this helps. Letting us know your needs will help us help you better.
Welcome to ECF and good Vaping.

I've been vaping for only 3+ months and I started with a kit of 2 eGo c upgrade that came with a wall charger and a USB passthrough. It also came with those awful leaking tanks. I used those for about a month before I knew I needed something better.

I decided to try ALL of the different juice delivery systems so I could decide what was best for me. I tried tanks, clearomizers, tanks with cartomizers and just plain cartomizers.

My favorites, so far are: eGo Mop Head Clearomizer (Yellow) - $5.49 : Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids These are rebuildable, but I haven't had to yet

and these: Crystal Clear Vaping

Just try what you can, when you can afford it, and you will find what works best for you! Good luck!

Welcome to ECF and good Vaping.

Thanks everyone for the replies! Personally I smoke a pack a day Marlboro Lights.
I think I want more vapor, but am interested in different flavors.
I will look more into the chart when I get to a real computer.

And for everyone else, I am so thankful for all the advice. I will be looking into the eGo while trying to stay awake at work.
What a place to "fall into" during my research. You guys all seem to have a ton of knowledge. I will probably take some of you up on the PM offers.

Welcome to ECF Slabb, you've found a great place to do your research. I've been here about 2 months now and haven't stopped reading and learning yet! It was all very confusing to me at first, but I kept on reading and clicking the links everyone offered and I slowly picked up the lingo and have purchased enough gear and liquid to last me quite awhile. Within 3 weeks of starting on the ecigs my husband and I both stopped smoking! It worked for us and can work for you too! Good luck!

Welcome to ECF and congrats on making a life changing decission. I personally agree with all the above post. If you go with an eGo either get a twist or a spinner. The more "mah" it has the longer it will last between charges. Good luck with your new journey. When you have questions just ask. That's why we're all here. To help each other:toast:

Thanks again for the support and advice. The more that I look at things, I think the eGo Twist would be a good start. I'm motivated to quit analogs and I've decided I don't want to jack around with the "Blu" style e cigs.

https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-egc-all.htm

Hopefully this link works. This is what I'm looking at. It seems like a good starter kit and I'm able to customize it with 1000 mAh Twist batteries. What does the community think about that? Then I'll need juice I think, so does anyone have any tips on a good site to get that? I'm thinking probably a tobacco and maybe a flavored juice like mocha or coffee.

hi ya Slabb,

I'm a noobie vaper .. at just a month now - didn't even know I wanted to quit analogs but here I am - happily vaping and really digging all the flavor choices

order juice now.. it needs to hang around and be shaken frequently (steeped) to fully mature and deliver great flavor. I have juices I can't vape yet *sob* they're still quite perfumy
and go with sample sizes.. the smaller the better until you discover a flavor (or flavor family) that blows your skirt up.
mine? Cream .. butter, whipped cream, sweet cream, butterscotch.. like a mouth full of the white fluffy stuff.. mmmmm but that's all a personal thing.

oh.. and if you see yourself being like me.. wanting to vape all day and try different flavors constantly - do yourself a favor and get some either really low or no nicotine juices so you have something to work with when you're comfortable with your nicotine level. I over nicotined there that first week.. my 0 mg juices saved my .....

hubby and I quit the analogs at the same time. We've kind of discovered that there are (minimum) two style vapers - me - the chain vaper.. using my gear to replace ciggs and him, the occasional vaper - just when he needs a nicotine dose and his goal is to put down the e cig eventually also. I like it.. I'm using it for the nicotine AND it's been replacing snacks for me too.. a very cool thing indeed. I'm going for flavors.. and replacing the oral fixation on cigs with this. He's just using them to quit the ciggs.

I don't want to throw a monkey wrench in the EGO fest in this thread but our choice in gear are the volts from smokeless image. They use an 808 thread (not the same as EGO or 510) so not all other gear is going to work or play well with volts. They have a few choices in size/width and battery length (and great colors) - also juice delivery systems.. carts, nanos and clearos and another one T3 I think that we havent' tried yet. I'm impressed with the performance of their batteries - had starter kits from a company that's not a vendor here *put that as nicely as I could* and they have fantastic customer service.

To browse a vendors section *yep.. there are vendor sections in the forum - head on up to the address bar, back everything out until you get to the .com part then add a slash / and type the vendors name in.. poof! easy navigation around the forums.

While mentioning the forums.. there are a ton of people here.. busiest forums I've seen in YEARS and I'm a forum nut case. Click new posts.. see where the most action is.. lots of games and contests (plenty to keep you occupied when considering an analog)

Slabb, this kit seems too expensive to me. Upgrading the kit to 2 1000mah twists adds another $22. And I haven't heard great things about the heads and tanks in this kit.

Please take a look here: Batteries - Vaping Me

And I really like these: Stardust CE4 V2 Clearomizer - Multiple Colors! - Vaping Me

Add 1 of these: Joyetch eGo USB Charger - Vaping Me then all you will need is juice. He offers free shipping and I think the code ECF will get you an extra 10% off discount. All of this will be cheaper then the kit you posted a link to. Hope this helps.

Well heck, That is a better deal! I'm looking at 2 Twist batteries, 3 clearomizers, and the charger for under 70 bucks. That sounds much better than the $100 I was looking at.

@opal - Thanks for the heads up on the fluid advice. I will have to go lurking around a bit longer and decide what to get.

I've ordered a couple of times from Matt's website. He ships quickly from Texas, no tax out of state and his website is easy to navigate and everything works well together. I also like the Kanger T2 clearo's he sells. They hold 1 ml more liquid and work well on my twists. His prices are reasonable.

Once you hit the 5 posts mark, more places on ECF will open up to you for your lurking pleasure! Have a good night!
