The catch cup should be dry with both cartos (especially) and attys. If you have juice in the catch cup, it's likely you're flooding your atty/carto. With either of them, take it off, wipe it off and wipe out the catch cup. Esp. pay attention to the connection well and sop that out. Then blow out the atty and/or carto (hold a tissue to the connection end) and start over. Put your carto or your atty back on and vape.

When you squonk the juice up into the cartomizer, you should never see juice in the catch cup. When you squonk juice up into the atomizer, look down into the catch cup and when you see the first sign of juice coming through the four little holes at the side of the atty, stop.

There is a technique called blind squonking, but I'll let someone else tell you about it because others can certainly explain it better than I can.
