can u please post some close ups of the steam machine, vst, and the nemi's????
very curious and jealous....

Sure. I will on Friday when I get home. I want to use my real camera instead of my phone.

Oh... and completely unrelated, The reason I am awake at 2am local time is I just got my Amber Eric's Edition!!! (it was a second hand purchase from a guy in Denmark - should have it in a week at the latest) I now have all but the Sahara and am super excited.

In the 'for what it's worth' category, I brought both my Nemis with me on my business trip

Showoff, I mean, I'm jealous ;) I 'only' have one Nemi on the way.

Now... I just need a mini VW Nemi... and a good plastic case for the 14650 batteries (I have one for my 14500 but, haven't found one for the 14650s yet)

Will the 18650 cases work? Sure, they'll be loose, but no chance of shorting out, which is the point of a battery box. If you do find one specifically for the 14650's, please let us know - I'll need one soon too, but will use the 18650 cases I have now in the meantime.

Since I started using mechanical mods, I've learned a lot about battery safety. For example, I keep an Excel spreadsheet of data I find on various batteries, which calculates some of the numbers below.

AW IMR 18650 2000mAh 05C = 10.0A = 0.42 ohm minimum
AW IMR 18650 1600mAh 15C = 24.0A = 0.18 ohm minimum
AW IMR 18490 1100mAh 15C = 16.5A = 0.26 ohm minimum
AW IMR 18350 0700mAh 09C = 06.3A = 0.67 ohm minimum
AW IMR 14500 0600mAh 08C = 04.8A = 0.88 ohm minimum

...and the (assumed) recommended battery by Atmomixani since they sell them on their website for the Nemi:

Efest IMR 14650 950mAh 10C = 9.5A = 0.44 ohm minimum

Does everyone respect battery safety, and the minimum atty resistance builds? Some say you should allow 50% headroom on the max rated discharge (C-rating), which makes many of these batteries unsuitable for sub-ohm. Do you follow the rules of battery safety? This has been on my mind since I decided to get the Nemi, since it uses a 14-series battery (and thankfully a 14650 over just a 14500).

If you own a Nemi, which battery did you choose? What resistance did you build your atty to?

The 18650 cases sort of work... the batteries rattle but, they don't short. I used a piece of thin foam inside a 4 slot 18650 battery case for this trip and it is working OK. It just isn't ideal. I am still hopeful that I will find one. If not, I may need to commission one. We'll see.

Short answer for me is Absolutely. Not surprisingly, there is a longer answer.

Basically, I don't sub ohm at all. I vape NETs (Natural/Naturally Extracted Tobaccos) and liquids based on extracted fruits (only 3 or 4). Because they are based on natural extractions, they burn so, all of my builds are based on increasing flavor, increasing the surface area of the coil, and my target is 1.1 - 1.3 ohm when building.

Even with me not using sub ohm builds, I use a vapesafe in my larger tube mods - 2 reasons: first is just in case. I prefer 18500 size on the larger mods (I use 650s in my 69 but, for bottom fire, 500s feel better in hand to me) and 18500s have lower amperage than the larger batteries. The last thing I want is a faulty battery to vent while i use it because a build shorted or something similar.

The second is appearance - I prefer the kick ring with the 500 tube because, well, it looks fantastic that way. I use long pins in my topcap (and sometimes in the bottom cap) the vapesafe makes up for any battery size differences.

As for batteries, I pretty much stick to AW IMR batteries for my 18 series mods, AW IMR for 14500, and both AW IMR and Efest for 14650.

That's a good first reason. I'm using one in both mods, partly also to have the kick ring (essential in the mixed-matte edition, IMHO, and needed in the beater because I messed up the threads - another story for another thread). My Nemesis is built in 18500 mode, mainly because with the Kayfun Lite Plus on top, it gets pretty tall. The other one is built as 18650 with a dripper on top. The fuse is 7A, the Kayfun is built to 1.65 ohm, which draws and easy 3A from the battery. The IGO-W is built to 0.65 ohm, which pulls 6.5A (close to the 7A fuse limit), but the battery is capable of 10A. I was thinking about going with a lower ohm build, but then I couldn't use the fuse or the kick ring. VapeSafe is coming out with the "Extreme", which is supposed to handle 17A, which would allow as low as 0.25 ohm builds, and with a Sony 30A or Efest 35A battery, should still be considered safe.

PS - I wonder if VapeSafe (or anyone) will come out with a 14mm-sized fuse. For now, I guess we have to run our Nemi's unprotected!

Grrr... I'm going to take some heavy grit sandpaper to that first thing tomorrow morning!

I'm a man of my word... "By Atmomixani" really did bother me. Totally unnecessary to do that, and the ultimate insult to the creator.

before_small.jpg

Sandpaper didn't do a whole lot, so I used a coarse metal file. Surprisingly, after a while of grinding, I could still see the logo in what was supposed to be the "after" photo (upside down, at the top), but couldn't really see it with my eyes in normal light. So, back for more filing. The photo makes it appear as if brass is starting to show through - that's just the coloring in the photo.

during_small.jpg

I finished it off with a fine metal file, and will leave it like this for now. Maybe later I'll try some fine grit sandpaper - probably not necessary. The photo zooms in on the detail of the scratches, which aren't nearly as visible to the naked eye. It also feels completely smooth, so that'll kill my motivation to do anything more with it.

after_small.jpg

As soon as I figure out how to sand a round metal tube (and not make it look completely trashy), I'll work on the serial.

you could polish the brushed tube and then brush it again... that should do it. :)

Sounds great. Only 3 problems with that though...
1) Don't know how to polish,
2) Don't know how to brush,
3) Likely don't have the tools to do either one of them.

I'll do some research, and maybe see if any friends have the necessary tools. I've been very curious how brushing is done actually, so I can apply that knowledge to fixing blemishes as they're bound to happen on the nice mods.

Good solid dripper. I can see using this when tasting new liquids or some of my heavy NETs (I have some liquids that I love but, don't tank them because they are really gunky and can cake a coil pretty quickly so, I drip them instead). For me, having the dual coil holes at 1.5 are perfect but, tis great that folks can go larger with just drilling the control ring.

Another home run guys :)

Good solid dripper.

I like the looks of the Striker, but I think I'll save my pennies for a 3D. The more I think about it, I really like the hybrid look. I also really like the looks of my mixed-matte edition, and wouldn't want to lose the brass top cap. You really DO need multiple mods! Maybe, if the financial gods allow, I'll get a second Nemesis for the 3D. Plenty of time to think about combinations...

Wonder if we'll see a "mini-Striker" for the Nemi? Or maybe a "2D" ;)

Canned, how does the vape time of the mini compare to the vape time of the full size nemi?

If I am in 14650 mode, it lasts a bit longer than an 18500 but, less than a 18650 - I generally plan for it to last as long as the 18500 then, when it lasts a bit more, i am still covered. I have been pretty impressed with the battery life. :)
