This is a cool design. I never thought I'd get excited about a switch but this is cool. Mark me down for a v1 Prodigy & Protege... might as well mark me down for a v2 as well as you guys have become very efficient in the practice of separating me from my money. :D

I second that emotionnnnn!

We tried 1 approach with disc springs, however it needed roughly 4lbs. of pressure to activate ... A bit tough!

Did you look at Finger Disc Springs?

McMaster-Carr p/n 9717K51
Outside dia: .595"
Inside dia: .312"
Load: 1 lb.
Deflection at load: .062"
Unloaded height: .094"

These need a wear resistant surface for the fingers to bear against.
There are also wavy disc springs which are available in light ratings. I have some in my magnifier visor hinge adjusters at work, those are maybe .5 lb. rating.

seeing the numbers and measurements of that makes me think they're WAY too big... and it's much harder to cut a circular slot like that then plunging an endmill... just my $2/100

Oh, I had some hazy idea of putting the spring underneath the button's head, which probably wouldn't work if using a contact disc to complete the circuit.

and .... its .... ALIVE !!!! ;)

Monk, my man .... Here she is .... A couple revisions needs to be done. Been using her for 48 hours without an issue. No fuzing/welding contact issues due to the difference in materials. Revisions will be finalized Monday with Production hopefully starting before Thanksgiving ... What really has surprised me is the fact this thing now feels so much like a 20AWG USBpass like ours ... Amperage must have increased quite a bit without the solder joints. New Mechanical switch will be adopted on all of our Products, minus the USBpass which will continue to use an electric switch due to the fact we would like to keep people's PC's in 1 piece :)

Tested Under Load Today:
Battery - 100% - 4.24v
Protege w/ Mechanical Switch - 4.11v

First Look at the new mechanical switch :) The first of which, when done, goes to m0nk :)

Excellent Job Steve

I need on the list for 4 ... two Protege's and two Prodigy's (first version)

Camelot's a good looking pooch too.

mbolack... I think what you'll find is a greater output with a standard 18650/14500 batt (4.11v) as shown above.
Not sure how they'l tie the resistor in. Maybe clip the incoming side and put it inline with the connection. Should be a much higher output voltage.

Monk.. ya gotta go back to the other avatar pic dood. Looks like you've had too much of the 54mg stuff.

How would these mechanical switches react in the event an atomizer or adapter has less than perfect delrin(?) (that gasket thing...you know what I mean.) It won't fry the switch anymore?

I've never noticed pushed up or cracked delrin on anything I use, but that's usually what gets the blame when switches die. Will that become a non-issue with the mechanical switches?

Put that mean ol' .....y Oddgirl on the list for a couple of each - two for my Prodigy V1 and and two for my Protege. What a wonderful thing!!!
