My pulmonologist mentioned it to me after I was diagnosed with COPD this summer. I'd told him that despite having voluntarily (and easily!) quit for 6 years in 2004 because I was sick of the smell and taste, I was really struggling with it this time when I knew perfectly well that I absolutely had to if I wanted to have any quality of life at all. I knew I'd continue nicotine, I've never done well dropping it entirely and all of my doctors (I have quite a few, thanks to a chronic progressive autoimmune disorder ) have agreed that it's perfectly fine for me to use nic forever if I like, before I used lozenges so it wasn't that. My life is vastly different now though and I just felt depressed, unfocused and lost, way past any initial habit-changing period without the hand-mouth-brain aspects of smoking. I couldn't breathe, was hiding outside smoking when I could barely make it down the stairs, hating the taste, knowing every cigarette was putting me even closer to having oxygen at home and worse and still there I was. The pulmo said some of his patients had done very well with e-cigs and while in a perfect world we would all suck nothing but mountain clean air into our lungs the current thinking at the very well respected Philadelphia hospital he is associated with is that e-cigs are a good option for those who will otherwise probably continue analogs. I didn't take it terribly seriously but saw an Njoy when I was buying my Newports, so I got it, tried it, thought meh...it was okayish but didn't last long, was hard to drag on, cost way too much. I definitely could see the possibilities though, if there was something better quality/less expensive available, so I chain smoked my way here the next night and wah-la! Started with 1100 mah Kgos and a kgo vv, then I added a few fat spinners and now I am the happy owner of a gun-metal Zmax, with a chrome coop clone on the way fairly soon. I can't believe how much *better* I like vaping than smoking. I smoked 3 PAD, so at best I expected to find something that would fill in for it adequately. The worst bottle of eliquid in my closet beats any Newport I ever smoked. I have my throat hit, hand-mouth satisfaction, my vape breaks, it tastes from good to amazing, doesn't reek. My FEV (lung capability score for COPD) is already improved tremendously. I wish they had it 30 years ago! Yay!
