I started after seeing a " Deal of the Day " offer for some cheap e-cig. I did some research and finally end up ordering with a friend from an other supplier that looked a bit more professional. We continued ordering different products and juice to see what we like the most without ruining ourself... Finally, he get back to real cigarettes and I became a heavy vaper. But he's trying to totally stop smoking, and he's actually smoking way less than before... While I vape way much than what I was used to smoke and I'm not considering to stop vaping...lol!

I started with the cheap cigarette looking device and it put me off vaping for a year! Those things do more harm to put off people than benefit. Eventually smoking was too much stress on my lungs and I found the ECF forum, got recommended the Ego, and progressed from there. Vaping - better than smoking ever was!

Started a few years ago, I think because I saw an ad or read an article. Got some liberty smokes cig types, then a Janty stick. It worked out alright, but was way too fiddly for me to be effective. Too much charging, too little vapor and hit, burnt out easily, etc. For the next couple of years I meant to come back to it, and after seeing how far things have come, and with the help of all the good info on this forum, I'm back on track, and I've found that PVs are so much better now!

My pulmonologist mentioned it to me after I was diagnosed with COPD this summer. I'd told him that despite having voluntarily (and easily!) quit for 6 years in 2004 because I was sick of the smell and taste, I was really struggling with it this time when I knew perfectly well that I absolutely had to if I wanted to have any quality of life at all. I knew I'd continue nicotine, I've never done well dropping it entirely and all of my doctors (I have quite a few, thanks to a chronic progressive autoimmune disorder ) have agreed that it's perfectly fine for me to use nic forever if I like, before I used lozenges so it wasn't that. My life is vastly different now though and I just felt depressed, unfocused and lost, way past any initial habit-changing period without the hand-mouth-brain aspects of smoking. I couldn't breathe, was hiding outside smoking when I could barely make it down the stairs, hating the taste, knowing every cigarette was putting me even closer to having oxygen at home and worse and still there I was. The pulmo said some of his patients had done very well with e-cigs and while in a perfect world we would all suck nothing but mountain clean air into our lungs the current thinking at the very well respected Philadelphia hospital he is associated with is that e-cigs are a good option for those who will otherwise probably continue analogs. I didn't take it terribly seriously but saw an Njoy when I was buying my Newports, so I got it, tried it, thought meh...it was okayish but didn't last long, was hard to drag on, cost way too much. I definitely could see the possibilities though, if there was something better quality/less expensive available, so I chain smoked my way here the next night and wah-la! Started with 1100 mah Kgos and a kgo vv, then I added a few fat spinners and now I am the happy owner of a gun-metal Zmax, with a chrome coop clone on the way fairly soon. I can't believe how much *better* I like vaping than smoking. I smoked 3 PAD, so at best I expected to find something that would fill in for it adequately. The worst bottle of eliquid in my closet beats any Newport I ever smoked. I have my throat hit, hand-mouth satisfaction, my vape breaks, it tastes from good to amazing, doesn't reek. My FEV (lung capability score for COPD) is already improved tremendously. I wish they had it 30 years ago! Yay!

I saw an ad online for them. The ad was for a crappy cig sized device. I could see that this was not the ideal way of doing it, but it got me starting to look, and led me here. The rest is just details.

Now, I'm in my comfy chair, in my big green robe with my provari and my DIY juice.

Life is good.

I first saw e-cigs in a restaurant in about 2009 I think. The guy who owned the restaurant was using one and I questioned him about it. I thought nothing more of it for a long time, assuming it was a novelty.

In 2011, my Gran saw an advert in the local newspaper and suggested I try it as she was desperate for me to get off the analogues...I didn't! I waited a couple of months until I got back to university and got sick of going down two flights of stairs to go outside in the freezing cold. I searched around on the Internet but was so confused! In the end, I made a very expensive call to a company called Smoke Electonic Cigarettes and they gave me a lot of useful advice; asking me about my smoking habits and history etc. They finally recommended an Ego-T which arrived shortly afterwards. I used this for a few weeks but was keen to experiment so I also bought the 510 pen style as back-up.

I found this forum when trying to clean my atomisers...I'm now on cartomisers! Lol!

I stopped using the e-cig for a year or so because of my housemates. They were far from supportive and made my life HELL! I also had a real jerk of a boyfriend who didn't help matters at all- but that's all a story for another day!

I got back ON my e-cigs about a month ago because I was visiting a friend in the back end of nowhere, up on the moors, and she was going to have her partner's little girl around at the same time. Rather than going outside and disturbing the little girl/ freezing to death, I used my e-cig (although NOT around the little girl). It also meant that I could sit inside and vape away, just like I used to smoke with her brother (my best friend). In the car on the way home, a whole 7 hour journey, I alternated between the e-cig and analogues and it kick started me. No longer was this a negative thing but a very, very positive one. I'm now on day 3 analogue free!

I'm totally blaming my Gran for the e-cig! I'm kinda looking forward to going home for Xmas so I can show her how well I'm doing!

I'm guessing I'm a rather usual story. I've never been a cigarette smoker. I used to smoke cigars (one cigar every week or two, hardly an every day thing) and while I enjoyed the smoking, I didn't enjoy the nicotine headaches or the taste that lingered for far too long. So I dropped the cigars for a few months for those reasons mostly.

A friend at work (who is a smoker) was using a modded e-cig of some kind and that got me interested. A lot of reading and surfing later I got a very simple 510 starter cig-a-like and soon after got a 350 ego battery with a clearomizer that I'm now using. I vape orders of magnitude more than I smoked cigars but that battery still lasts me about 2 days. So I can now enjoying the act of smoking without the nicotine (I only get 0 nic juices) or the after-taste.

I had tried cheap china cig-a-likes a few times before and always enjoyed em (I just enjoy the act of smoking, hookahs are amazing) but the technology always seemed wonky.

A few years later (around March) a buddy on another forum recommended I try the SDK, and pointed me towards ECF and a vendor (CoV). The begging of the end, as it were.

Oddly before getting the SDK I had been tobacco free for a month solid. But fearing the inevitable cig, an e-cig seemed perfect.

Unusual story here too. Never been a smoker period, cigars or cigarettes. Tried a friend's provari for the first time, knowing it was vapor over smoke, then jumped to 510s, egos then APVs from there.

Well, back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth I happened across a far more evolved human vaping on a blu, in my curiosity I decided to give this new magic stick a try. It was heaven from the first draw to the last hiss...pop of the cartomizer. I researched and studied hard in this new art and moved on to an eGo, learned to wield new powers at my fingertips and each draw was amazing, fresh juicy flavors tingled my senses and excited my taste buds. Leaving the traveled path behind decided to talk to the local Vapor-smith I had him tool a work of art called a mechanical tube mod, it was new and uncharted territory as I lacked the skills to use such a device but in time gained enough levels and manna to use it. Now I wield the mightiest of them all an APV with RBA Phoenix.....
Naw, really I did it for health reasons, wanted to get off the cigs...I found breathing to be hard and keeping up with family or even walking short distances was killing me. I decided there had to be a way, and found vaping...been ever since.

My motorcycle battery died on the freeway and the tow truck driver that picked me up had one.
He asked me if it was ok if he vaped while we were driving and I said that was cool if I could smoke. He pulled out a mod with a tank on it and started vaping away so I asked him what it was and he said "an ecig" told me he used to smoke a pack a day and hasnt for about 6 months. I was like ... is that so we talked about it all the way home and he let me take a few drags off of it. The very next day I found this forum and started doing research and ended up buying a 1100mh RIVA kit that I split with my co-worker because it came with 2 complete setups for around $58.00 from China.
Glad I ran into that guy it really did get me off cigarettes I have since dumped lots of money on all sorts of devices and currently own 3 complete setups, cartos, atomizers, tanks etc and am looking to get a carto pipe soon.

Great reading all of these stories and a great motivation too! I decided 4 weeks ago to just give an e-cig a try - just to see if it would actually work. Really did not even have any intention of quiting, but thought maybe it could get me to cut down. I have been smoking for 46 years, love smoking and just figured I would die smoking.

I had first heard of e-cigarettes 3 years ago from a friend who had bought a mall kit in Vegas. He was there with his none smoking brother and had bought it to smoke in the room. Said it was ok - even let me try it one night. He is still smoking and never talked about it again. Didn't sound to great to me - it would require ordering the cartidges, sounded expensive and of course - I did not want to quit. So I didn't even think about it since that time.

Since that time I have retired and along with loving all my free time - it also meant that I had more time to smoke - so that PAD was at times going to 1 1/2 PAD. My best friend has been diagnosed with COPD and I have been watching her struggle to breath while she is still smoking and trying to quit unsuccessfully for the last 2 years.

I ran into a couple of ladies smoking outside of our local casino in Aug and it got me to thinking that maybe I should try using an e-cigarette to cut down on the amount I was smoking. That and if it actually worked - maybe I could get me friend to try it too. So far she is resisting the idea - still thinks she can do it with nigorette gum and lozenges.

Of course like many I figured it had to look and taste like a real cigarette or it would not work. So I did a little research (very little) and found the ePuffer Colivri mini. I ordered their kit, some extra eliquid and some cartos. With this kit I went from a PAD + to a pack a week. Actually started to realize that maybe I could just change brands and maybe give up this loved habit that is so bad for me.

Found ECF and started reading and reading and reading some more. Amazed by the many stories and all the people who were as old and older than me that have completely given up smoking.

Ordered a kit with 2 eGoTwists and 5 sample juices that finally arrived yesterday. Had no cigarettes yesterday and so far none today. I actually love this eGo Twist - I still cannot believe that I am not smoking. I actually think this is going to work for me.

I also love all the support I have seen given to others here on ECF - looks like a great place and the amount of information is overwhelming. Figure I will just keep going and hope my best friend will see that it is working for me and that she will give it a try too. I also hope that someday I can convert my sons and my sister. No preaching or even selling - just hope they see it working for me and decide to give it a try.
