Hi all

Call it what you will, smoking or vaping, but lets be serious about E Cigarette for a minute.., Everyone who is on this forum ask you self this one question.. What are you using E Cig for ?

Giving up the habit of smoking real tobacco which has been long term addiction / Habit or using E Cig to get around the so called smoking ban which has been inposed in many US, UK, and other countries ie public places / the work place

Not enough that all tobacco advertising is being banned from all major sporting events, but in the UK the new thing is a display ban.. No longer will shops be allowed the big cigarette counter behind the tills/ check out.

It just begs the question, how far are the goverments of the world prepared to go to stop people from smoking and just the E cig came in for a lot of abuse by the FDA even when there hasnt been any real quality clinical trails of E Cig...

In my view.. the way forward for E Cig is to have clincal trials to prove once and for all that its or is not a safer alternative, then be marketed as an aid to give up smoking with age restrictions in place

Certain parties moan that E Cig contains Nicotine, but then so does a patch or one of those nicotine inhalators

Well from my own point I've purchase the E Cig to get me off real tobacco, done the cold turkey thing and piled on the weight, tried the patches that lasted all of a day... didnt feel any different and still craved a cigarettes......

I am not trying to get around the cigarette ban, just lifes little moments when you decide enough is enough, and just recently I havent really got any pleasure from smoking, then you begin to start asking the many questions after smoking for 20 years, whats it done to my health, what about my kids.. wanna see them grow up

When it comes to the big C word.. Im somewhat of a cynic.. Ive known people who have never smoked or been in a smokie enviroment but still died of lung cancer, my grand father smoked till the day he died and it wasnt cancer that killed him... my own father has smoke for over 50 years.... Id say not going all that strong after a recent heart by pass operation but that was more of a life style issue..ie to much of a fattie diet

This E Cig is a new concept to me, even though its been around a few years.. it will truly be brilliant to final loose tobacco and give up once and for all and leading a more of a healther life style myself.. If it works for me then I will be spreading the word

and just recently I havent really got any pleasure from smoking,
I know that feeling well. I'm not sure yet if it's a good thing or a bad thing but once I got the hang of how to get the most out an inhale... I do get pleasure from this... just that ahhh kind of feeling when I choose to sit back and savor it.

I started as an aid to a better life sytle while getting my nic that I wasn't going to give up. I've accomplished that and no clinical trial is going to tell me how I feel and what I'm able to do in comparison. I do believe clinical trials need to be done and once that happens maybe some of the stigma attached as a result of the information the antis are spewing out will be relieved. I don't believe they are going to find it safe by any means but they will find it a safer alternative.

I wasn't thinking about smoking bans at all when I made the decision but if that's what it takes for other smokers to use a safer alternative then ok.

They've done clinical trials on inhaling all of the ingredients of nic liquid except for the flavoring, and all cigarettes have flavoring added to them so if you smoked you were getting those anyway. I figure if nicotine is safe to inhale (as long as you don't have heart issues), and PG and VG are safe to inhale, then combining them isn't going to make them unsafe to inhale.

Ecigs are a health issue for me pure and simple. I don't really vape in places where smoking is prohibited because I don't want to make a fuss. There have been enough thorough studies to prove without a doubt vaping is much much safer for your body. The whole controversy with the fda boils down to money pure and simple. At some point in the future there will be taxes imposed and bans in public are already in the works. Companies are banning employees from using them. Same old story. Don't think for a second that the fda is viewing this on a purely health risk angle. This is a money issue, and a political one. Tobacco Lobbyists have a few congressmen taking on the cause of banning them, and the fda wants to make some money in tax revenue. It's simple.

For me, nothing to do with bans at all. I vape because it is safer than cigarettes, it tastes better, it smells better, and it makes me feel better. I can breathe better, my cheeks are pink, my nails and teeth look better, I can smell and taste food better. I stopped a decades-long smoking habit immediately and without stress.

I just ordered my first e-cig a few days ago, and I sort of wish I had found this forum before I did. I can't believe how overwhelming this all is. I live in Toronto, and I didn't realize these were frowned upon at all. But then I remembered that I live in Canada, and big business runs the show. I should have known that Big Tobacco would be doing all they can, and going as far as paying off Health Canada to make BS claims about the dangers of e-cigs.

I vape because its fun, it tastes good and it's relaxing. I had already been tobacco free for 3 years when I started playing around with it. I *chose* to vape, not to quit, not to get around bans, just because I like it.

Its my understanding that there are some independent clinical trials going on right now regarding vaping. I know there's one to evaluate its efficacy in quitting smoking. I can't find the links right now, but you might head over to the CASAA site and look there (click the link in my signature)
