Hey all, I've been smoking for about 3 years now, and I've gotten to the point where I hate the idea of all the deadliness, but can't seem to kick the habit. I'm looking into e-cigs. Now I called a supplier and asked a few questions but he seemed pretty busy. He did tell me that I'd grow out of a kr-808 pretty fast. So I'm wondering what's good, what's not, and what's what.

Personally I like the idea of not having to push a button to take a drag, I still want it to "almost" feel like I'm smoking lol. Give me all the info you got guys, refillable carts? Cartomizers, models to look for, stay away from ect. I really want to make sure I'll enjoy my choice when I purchase one.

Thanks in advance!

I could write an essay on every question you asked, and you might not understand most of it.
And regardless, it all comes down to personal preference in the end.
:)

There is an entire world out there you didn't know existed, and simple questions do not have simple answers.

I strongly suggest you read this, which should be mandatory for all people wanting to start...
The Wonderful World of Vaping | Vaping Guides

And you might want to read the post linked in my signature below, especially with regard to not wanting to push a button.
Or you could take a look at this poll for more information on that: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/polls/64101-manual-automatic-batteries.html

In the end the important thing is to get started, and learn from there.
You will only find out what is important to you by getting one and getting started.

If you wind up getting exactly what you need on the first try, you get a medal.
Almost none of us have that medal.
:)

x 4... You will probably not love your first purchase but you will learn what you need in time... I hated the idea of having to push a button until I actually used my first purchase (an automatic).. Now I can't imagine not having the control that the manual gives me... but again, it all comes down to personal preference. Good luck, welcome and keep us posted on what you decide to try first.

All the above is very good advice. If vaping is something your going to like and stick with then any vet can offer great shortcuts to save money during this journey your undertaking. Quiting smoking is the best thing you can do and the money you save is a lot but you can spend a lot of money vaping too. Ask any vet what their 1st PV was and how many upgrade PVs they had then the Mods and the Mod upgrades....lol. My advice is stick with it and when you know for sure vaping is right for you then consider skipping some of those upgrades. :) If what I know now is what I knew when I started I have saved a lot of money.

best wishes/luck and keep vaping. :thumb:

I bought a XL KR808 starter kit over five months ago and I am still using it. I have three other batteries but the KR808 is still the one I use most often. I am ready to move on to a variable volt American battery but thats going to be a couple of hundred dollars and I am in no hurry. If one of my KR808 dies I'll order. So when that dealer says you will soon move to another battery he may be right. Most people who buy a cigarette looking battery do. You may find that the regular KR808 just doesn't last long enough between charges but some people put up with it for the look and feel or use it for an extra battery. Bigger is usually better with vaping. Longer between charges and a longer battery life. Whatever you buy the odds are that it won't be your last. Still cheaper than cigarettes in the long run.

You can also learn a lot here.

A DSE901 would be a good choice. A KR808d-1 would be another good choice. I'm not really sure what a 801 is, so I'll leave it at the two I have put before.

This guy http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-cigarette-suppliers-forum/158646-new-weekend-new-sale-20-off-free-shipping-its-just-simple-come.html had a heck of a sale going, but his juice is higher than most. The free shipping for a new kit is always cool though.

You'll want to get small bottles of various strengths and flavors of juice to refill your unit. Some extra cartos (or attys) would be a good idea too, but juices at the very least.\

I know that FreedomSmokeUSA carries the hardware and a wide selection of juice, but am not sure about the prices.

Automatic switches respond to the air flow you create when you draw on the Ecig. This involves fragile contacts that can actuate under loud, noisy conditions. I've read stories about people who had to unscrew the battery where a band was playing or after a bus went by! You don't know that actuation has occurred until you feel the burn in your pocket from an overheated atomizer.

You can't go wrong with an Ego as a starter kit. I agree that the smaller battery models get frustrating from frequent battery charges.

I thought I wanted an auto too until I continued to read on this forum. The Riva 510 ended up being my choice even though I was looking for something that resembled an analog. But for me it came down to needing a long life battery since I drive alot during the day. The Riva last all day and I just carry an extra cartomizer which also holds more liquid. I wasn't sure still, so I also ordered a Joye 510 because it was small and streamlined.
I am sooooo glad I got the Riva, I quickly found out I did not want to be recharging a battery every hour or so, but I do use it at home for dripping only.
I got my hardware here 20% off your whole order! I called them first, very helpful, great customer service!

If you want it to "feel" like an analog in your hand, then get the cheapest, mini, auto device you can find. The performance will be dismal but you will like the feel in your hand. If you want the "inhaled feel" of an analog, you definitely need a manual battery and a larger one, at a minimum, an eGo/Riva 510 or a VGO 801.

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

I really think a pen style is all I need guys. Like I said I'm not heavy smoker so I won't be puffing on it all day. However I do see where you're all coming from with the manual switch. I'll look into that, maybe see if I can get a manual battery for an 801, or look into a different model. Still watching youtube and reading up haha

Like The Big chief says Do what works for YOU...you'll be the one vaping it after all.
Were just here to give the pros and cons for different choices. One of the reasons for a manual is that it is a sealed batterry. So you can drip and if you overfill cartos and get some liquid in the battery it won't short the battery out.
Another thing to consider is why do you want to be reminded of a cigarette every time you take a puff. After some thought I realized that I didn't. After all I was trying to quit.

So after some more investigation I've found that tons of people like the joye 510. It has a manual switch and I'm starting to like the idea of not messing up my batteries. With a portable charger the battery life wouldn't be a problem...plus it's small, classy, and seems to make good vapor.

I'd like some people with personal experience on the 510 to tell me what you guys think about it :)
