Good Afternoon,

I have been smoking on and off for about 15 years. I would quit when I was pregnant and shortly after would start craving a cigarette again. I am done having kids but I still don't care to smoke around them not to mention my hubby complains about the smell of my smoking. I ran across something that said e-cigarette and got curious. While searching I ran across Green Smoke and it sounded interesting so I decided to search reviews on it, well my searches led me here with not so great reviews on the green smoke. While I have tried to read alot of the basics on the forum without actually having an e-cigarette it is all confusing to me. I am not a heavy smoker, usually a third of a pack a day if I leave the house. I am one of those that smokes alot when I am in my vehicle but not so much when I am at home.

I would like to start out with a simple easy to use kit that I can (until i taste and decide on other favors) get a newport menthol flavor from. I have read alot about the NUport from Nhale and the 555. However I was unable to actually find the 555 on the shopping page. Any suggestions on what would be a good starter for me? Also I was curious are the liquids hard to use, the ec on green smoke had actual cartridges that were easy to change which is what interested me the most.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I am not sure how much more of my hubbys nagging I can take :p and would like to start my e-cigarette adventure soon.

Thanks and sorry for the long read.

I got my first kit from cignot.com. A 510 starter kit that had 2 batteries (and charger), 2 atomizers, and a 5 pack-o-carts that were pre-filled, for 35 bucks (no box kit). Something like that and maybe a couple of 5ml bottles of juice would cost you roughly the price of a carton of smokes. Be a pretty good way to try it out.

I was a menthol smoker myself, but have not yet tried any of the menthol e-juices. I personally love the 555 juice. I'm kinda partial to the VG juice, but I totally recommend that you try both, the PG and VG, to see which is for you.

I was a smoker for 30 years and had my first taste of an ecig one year ago. I haven't picked up an analog since. I went through many ecigs before I found the perfect one for me and spent alot of money doing it. I have found that the Joye 510 is most like a real cig and so you may want to start there. You can buy liquids pre mixed and no they are not hard to use. I have yet to try the cartomizers. To me they are much more expensive. Make sure you get extra supplies and go to you tube and check out the ecig tutorials. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

If you want a 3-piece design where the aromizer and juice cartridge are separate the 510 seems to be the most popular recommendation. If you'd prefer a 2-piece design that integrates the atomizer with the cartidge (a cartomizer) steer towards a KR808D-1 model.

I chose the KR8 as my first model because I wanted the simplest, most convenient device to use while running around town. I didn't want to monkey with messy cartridges while I'm not at home, this was especially important to me since I (correctly) guessed that I'd want to change flavors frequently.

I've been very happy with my decision. I don't think that I'm really spending more on cartos than 510 users spend on atomizers, but that's a very difficult call to make. Cartomizers are probably more expensive if you don't refill them, but they're no harder to fill that the 510 cartridges.

For juice... I'm not quite sure where to begin. My preferred source is definitely tastyvapor.us, but there are lots of places that have good juice. Many of them, TV included, sell juice made with real menthol. I suggest that you don't focus too heavily on "matching" your current cigarette flavor. There is absolutely no juice offered that will taste like disgusting, burning plants and chemicals. That's not a bad thing, though. You'll find lots of things that taste much better.

I'm pretty new to this too so I can't really answer any questions about hardware, but I do know that my friend ordered some newport flavor from vaporkings and I liked it. Alot of the menthol flavors I've tried taste like gum and not a cigarette but the newport (nuport?) was pretty close. I've been smoking Kools for 11 years and I've been going crazy trying to find something close. The newport from vaporking was close......but not close enough......though it did taste like a menthol cigarette. It just wasn't MY menthol cigarette and you know how us smokers are when we can't have OUR brands:mad:. I've been having pretty good luck buying one bottle of menthol and one bottle of tobacco flavor and mixing them together. I've almost gotten it right, but not quite. Don't fret though, I puffed on a cherry flavor all day and I, a VERY heavy smoker for more than a decade, didn't touch the pack of Kools in my drawer (my comfort pack:rolleyes:).

I'd suggest getting started with a Joye 510 kit. But, I'd suggest picking up some pre-filled 510 cartomizers with it (which basically turns this e-cig into an easier to use 2-piece e-cig).

You could also choose a vapor4life vaporking (or similiar KR-808 style e-cig).

2-piece types of e-cigs are great to cut your teeth on. You'll be able to teach yourself on how to refill/fill carts while still having the freedom to just twist on a fresh factory-filled cartomizer without any worry of making a mess.

Handling liquids isn't difficult. Just remember they contain nicotine so you want to avoid spills. But if you can use an eye-dropper, you can work with these liquids ;)

Kimi,

Of all I have used, the blu seems the most convenient. It's pretty cheap, easy to use, and replacement parts are dirt cheap. Where other brands sell batteries for $20 and atomizers for 15, blu sells em for 10 and 5. Their cartridges are very tasty, and although the batteries only last for about 7 cigarettes worth, they recharge quicker than anyone's. Later on you might want something more intense, but for starters a blu is very affordable.

I agree totally. When I first started I was disappointed that it didn't taste exactly like a Marlboro. Now I'm happier with the flavors in e-cigs especially now that my taste buds are rebounding.

Ok I have tried to look over some of the ones listed and I like the look of the blu the best although I am sure I should not go by looks. The Blu starter pack consists of

1 pack, holds 5 cartridges & charges your batteries on the go!
1 electronic cigarette battery & 1 spare battery
1 atomizer & 1 spare atomizer
1 wall charger & 1 USB charger
25 FREE cartridges in the strength of your choice
(equals over 150 cigarettes!)
30 day money back guarantee and one year warranty.

Does that sound like the stuff I need to start with or do I need more?

Also does the blu use juices and if so do I use the same cartridges it comes with or do they sell empty ones that I should use to refill?

Does anyone have any bad reviews of the Blu that I should be aware of?

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I get a good start on the stuff I will need.

I’m a newbie and have learned a TON on this wonderful forum. Thanks to all for your contributions.

Based on all I’ve read, I’m preparing to order a starter kit each, for me and my hubby from Vaporkings .. The Joye 510. I also like the prices at cignot, but they don’t have this in white, that I could find. My husband wants an e-cig that looks like his MB with the brown filter. Can anyone tell me where to get one like this?

Is a PCC important to order at the start?

I need some advice on what else to order with these starter kits. Vaporkings lists that each starter kit comes with 5 prefilled cartridges, however I just visited their website and it states today that they only have blank cartridges. I just left a message with them asking what would be shipped with a starter kit that normally would contain 5 pre-filled cartridges. Anyone else run into this?

It seems the only drawback to the 510 is the battery life. How long does a battery last for a pack-a-day smoker? I guess I should order extra batteries?

I guess I will get some e-juice flavors. How many empty cartridges should I get to start? What else do I need, please.

Thanks so much. (I gotta quit these analogs….. they’re making me sick!)

I used my blu for a week before getting fed up and buying a 510. The 25 cartridges lasted me just over a week. Nowhere near 150 cigarettes. After about 10 puffs on average, vapor and flavor drop off drastically. the batteries didn't last long either so I was constantly rotating them around in the PCC. Dumb me ordered an extra 50 carts on my third day because I noticed how fast I was going through them. So now I keep it at work as a spare which I hope I don't need. I may just give them away to a friend. There are bad reviews out there. I didn't find them until I realized that the product didn't do what it stated on the website. The blu helped me reduce my analog, but I always craved them. Once I got the 510, I haven't had or craved an analog since.

After looking at the Blu I decided to search a little more and did find quite a few negative feedbacks, so now im thinking against it. Guess I will do a little more research on the 510, 901 and KR808. I do love the idea of a case that actually charges which is why I liked the blu, do any others have that type of case?

Also are the 2 piece ones "alot" easier to use then the 3 piece. I do like simple. With 4 kids running around all the time, I love having my simple things.
