Hi everyone! I'm a newbie to ECF and vaping. Around a year ago I tried to quit smoking and bought one of those e-cigs from the gas station. It tasted horrible and I didn't see the point so I quickly gave up. I have now ordered a joy510 and looking forward to it's arrival. There is so much info on vaping that I don't even know where to begin researching. My husband and I both smoke and spend about $500 a month on smokes. I'm hoping with the help of vaping I can give up smoking since patches and gum hasn't worked for me and I'm not willing to take a pill. Anyways any advice would be very appreciated!

Welcome to ECF and the wonderful weird world of vaping.
Make sure you check this out. New Members Information

That helps allot at the start and fire away with any kind of questions. There will be responses in no time:)

I would just like to say you made a good choice wanting to try e-cigs. So many have quit (including me) without even having that as a goal.
My goal was to reduce because I had given up quitting after 40+ years of smoking and trying everything that there is without success.
Well, I am smoke free for over one year now.
There is a learning curve to e-cigs but that is not so bad. Read allot and as already said ask allot.

I think the best advice is not to pressure yourself too much. When I started vaping, I didn't throw away my cigarettes. I just focused on learning to vape and developing my new habit. If I wanted to smoke, I did.

But, after the third day, I didn't want a cigarette badly enough to go outside to smoke. It wasn't worth the trouble when I could just vape indoors instead. And, I haven't smoked since, even though I had several packs of cigarettes sitting around that I could have picked up at any time. That was a year and a half ago.

I threw myself into it. I was fanatical about always having more than enough supplies. I had been the same way when I had smoked. If I had less than 2 packs of cigarettes on me, I'ld panic.

I went quickly from an Ego-t to a 510 to SR cartos to LR cartos to the 306. That's where I stopped for a long time. The Ego-t might have been enough to do the job. The 510 certainly would have been - at least for a while, until I got sick of the fiddling with cartridges. I never stood still long enough to know for sure. I quickly tried new things until I found something that I really loved - dripping DFW Caramel Macchiato on a 306.

Eventually I went through a bad spell where I started experimenting again and have found lots of new toys that I like. I guess I could have just thrown out the bad atties I had gotten and ordered new ones and kept on going. Financially, that would have made more sense. But, it was almost Christmas, and there were so many things on sale that I wanted to try!

The point I'm trying to make is that the focus should be on moving forward and not on what you're giving up. You don't have to give anything up. Just keep moving forward and developing and enjoying your new habit!

Welcome to ECF! If you're goal is to quit smoking, I would recommend investing into a better PV. I bought the gas station ecigs, and threw them away. I recently bought a Kr808d and threw that away too. My Volt (from SmokelessImage) was better.

But, ultimately, it was my eGo-C with the Vivi Nova that came through. The first drag I had from that thing, and I absolutely KNEW I would never want another cigarette again.

Anyway, best of luck to you! Don't hesitate to ask questions.

Corri, let us know when your kit arrives and if you have any questions. Good luck, and congratulations on your new lifestyle.

i am new too. been using ecigs since july14
Almost 2 months now. So, how do you like it so far?

Welcome! As a newbie myself, one thing I would recommend if you decide to start vaping, is to make sure you have enough parts and supplies to last you at least a week. I broke a tank yesterday and would have been in a bad spot if I didn't have a spare.

Good luck!

Only one week?!!!! I have enough batteries to last a week WITHOUT CHARGING! Enough e-liquid to last 6 months!

Welcome to the Forum. I'm a noob also and just started vaping 2 days ago. I'd ordered a kGo 1100mah kit with two batteries and all the other toys I thought I needed and will try. I finally found a shop close to where I live (about 35 miles away) and went up there and brought home a eGo C twist with not near enough stuff. I haven't found a flavor or strength I'm crazy but I can tell you this much. I smoke 2+ packs a day. Since I started vaping I noticed yesterday that the pack I had the day before still had analongs in it. For me that was fantastic. I tried everything under the Sun including the pills. Really bad stuff for me. I wish all those who want to quit the very best of luck. This Forum has been a wonderful source of information.(Even though I go through a brain overload sometimes)
