Im new to rda's. I currently have an istick 30w that I use with a kanger subtank mini and love the mini rta since i figured out how to build effectively but I'm looking into getting an rda as a local vape shop vendor told me it's a better vape experience than an rta especially for sub ohm vaping. Are there any rda's on the market that would work well with an istick 30w? or should I change my mod to work better with an rda?

You can use the 30w mod but you'll be restricted to what ohms you build at. While I agree with the advice you got in order to achieve that experience you will need a mod that's capable of firing higher. Most people including myself usually build coils anywhere from .15 to .35 or thereabouts so you would need a new mod to do that.

I used nothing but RDA's the past year or so until all these new tanks came out and the flavor I get with the mini using the rebuildable deck is excellent. I used an RDA for the first time in two weeks to test some juice I just got. My point is don't be in too much of a hurry to get into dripping and make sure you understand battery safety.

Most people don't build that low. A 30 watt regulated device is plenty of power to use a dripper. This notion that you need 100 watts is ridiculous. You can vape a 1 ohm coil at 15 or 16 watts and be just as satisfied as a .2 ohm coil at 76 watts...

With a regulated device there is no reason to build that low. In fact it makes no sense to do so.

I pretty much only use drippers.. I use the Atlantis and occasionally one of my rta's. I never build lower than .30, 95% of my coils are .4 - .7, I'm with you on this Rwb1500. I only like to keep that sub ohm vape due to not liking single coils or wires higher than 28g due to it being so small. If you use mechs, well so be it but I don't understand it.

Any RDA would work on your 30 it will fire down to .4 which is low enough to achieve a very flavorful warm vape and you will soon realize you don't even need to go that low ......

I am personally trying to decide between a Rogue and Derringer which I will be popping on top of a SMPL. Indeed any RDA would work on your 30, but I would imagine the smaller the chamber, the lower the wattage you would need for a warm dense vape. Anyway, what is your definition of a good vape experience? Flavour? Clouds? Both?

I buy my RDAs based on how they look with the mod I'm pairing them with. Any 22-23 mm RDA would fit nicely (and there's lots!). Adjustable airflow is nice, ability to do single or double coils is nice...or maybe just single coil to start.

I would not buy a new mod to try your first RDA. It' going to be a change for you as it is, I would try it with what you have. If your consistently using the full 30w and wishing for more, you can always buy a new mod later.

Unless you were looking for justification to buy a new mod....then by all means, have at it ;)

I'm curious, how would you (or anyone else for that matter) know what resistance "most" people build their coils at for dripping? Where did this data come from exactly?

You absolutely don't "need" to upgrade your mod to start dripping my man! I still use a 30w Ipv mini and it's working just fine for me.

Like others have said though you're somewhat restricted on your building, but I mean that restriction is just anything below .5 ohms. I haven't had any issues or difficulty keeping my builds at or above .5 so you're good to drip (as long as you pay attention to battery safety, that is)!

I first got into rebuilding with a Lemo Drop RTA and loved the airflow and flavor. Since I had the coil making parts I went ahead and got a Psywar Onlsaught clone for $12 to give dripping a try and mess around with different coil configurations (the Onlsaught has room for 3 coils)

Long story short I find the flavor is better even using 12w on a Vamo with a single coil at 1.5 ohm using the dripper and I get plenty of vapor production IMO. I am not into clouds or all that mind you. Just flavor and full to me vapes. I may have to fire it a little longer to get that but not a problem for me. I just use the dripper now to try out new flavors quickly. I am not going to carry a bottle of juice with me everywhere and even at the desk it is a pain to do constantly. If you just want a few vapes now and then no problem.

Personally I don't get all the need for 100-150w mods firing down to .2 etc but to each their own. I still enjoy a tank on me Kanger Aero now and then, but it does seems to lack a but compared to the Lemo Drop for sure.

As long as your device will fire down to the coil you built it should work for you. And at 30 watts that is plenty to give you a good idea of the difference dripping makes to flavor.

Oh and the guy at the vape store, did he mention how higher wattages, lower ohms and dripping mean you will need to buy more juice? LOL I bet he left that part out.

You would probably want a device with a Lil more power. But if you wanted to try it, I would just suggest building no lower than .50 - .60 ohms or so.

I second this I picked up my first dripper not too long ago. I got the mutation x v2 for a couple reasons. Deep well so harder to over juice for a begginer. Four post for easier dual coil builds, and adjustable airflow for if I want flavor or clouds. First build I did was 0.5 ohm build dial coils 26ga Kanthal wixked with organic cotton and it worked very well.
