If you’re not building super low and your regulated APV calculates and displays resistance you’re golden. Building at the threshold I prefer a little bit more precision and accuracy.

Cotton Bacon Prime is my cotton of choice. It’s demonstratively faster wicking than is CBv2. Check eBay for good prices, beware of counterfeits.

Yes, unless you are building only on a mech, you don't need an ohm's reader.

I technically don't "need" toilet paper either we get plenty of junk mail. My ohm's reader is the technical equivalent of TP, because a) it's a stable base and b) I build up to test vaping on it so it's been leaked on a LOT more than my more expensive regulated mods. So for me it has usefulness although I will say that is a lot to pay for an ohms reader alone you might be able to get a whole coilmaster kit for that price somewhere, which also has SOME usefulness to some people, I find mine useful although I don't use each and every tool.

Wicking is also personal preference. I happen to find rayon better than ANY cotton material and I did start with cotton, so I know the advantages for rayon (for me).

In case you decide to get interested in rayon (you certainly don't have to) well, here: https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/threads/rayon-wick-better-flow-flavor-longevity-and-nic-hit-pt-2.706948/

Good luck,
