Easy solution. Limit access to the new members forum to Moderators or folks who have been vetted by mods to only give unbiased general advice.

Otherwise, folks pitching in their two cents about what they think is best for the OP is basic human nature and something that will not end.

That's my :2c::lol:
You just posted exactly what the problem is.....it's not what is 'best' for the OP(unless they asked for it). If they have specific questions, those questions all too often get lost and the op gets more and more confused.

Agree. Also, please don't tell that newbie that they need to get a mech and start building sub ohm coils. Good lord. Let them figure out the difference between a carto and a clearo before we have them buying kanthal and worrying about amperage drain on a battery.

Absolutely! I have been vaping for 2 years now & even now I'm totally confused on batteries. I have to have other people proverbially hold my hand just to help me work it out. That's a lot of info to take in (I'm sure it comes easy to some; it doesn't come easy to everyone). Much better for a new member to experiment with that's already built & finger out what they like, what they don't like, how to even use this forum to research things so they don't waste money on dumb stuff they won't like (because of their own personal taste & not because it's just bad equipment).

In fact, if I new member chooses to read this I will say for the record that I have spent a lot of time with these very simple devices. I have spent nearly all of my 2 years vaping using Ego Twists & I am really pretty happy with them. It's the top piece that has always been a problem & that is the part that a new member should spend their time working out. There is no need to get into any RBAs right away really. If one tries out tanks like Evods, Protanks, Vivi Novas one can use these as practice devices to try out rebuilding if one feels so inclined (just don't try out ANY sub ohm with these lol). There's a good amount of reasonably performing equipment out there that one does not have to worry about RBAs & mechs until one is ready.

Although I didn't really want to spend the money I did on the "learning curve", I'm glad I did so I can truly appreciate each new step into better set ups. I didn't have a vape shop even remotely close or a vape buddy nearby when I started over a year ago, so a lot of trial and error. But with each progression, I am learning. I know what DOESN'T work for me.
I did start with an eGo an clearo, and did almost a step by step progression. I should have my ProVari tomorrow <------THAT took about 9 months to figure out it must be great, between watching You Tube, the warranty, and all the enablers here. Would I suggest it to someone just starting? Only if they had somewhere to try it first. And then there's the whole ohm, vv, vw, 18450, 18650, button top, coils, wicks, heads,...........this stuff is incredibly intimidating for most new vapers, and I still consider myself new.
If I have some knowledge about a particular product that's been asked about, I'll add my :2c: but I really couldn't recommend something because everyone has different ideas about what works for them. "Protanks" are one of them, you either love them or hate them. I have mine working great, I can pass on the changes I made to mine to make them perform, but I won't dissuade someone from going top coil .(which I don't get along with in the least!)

Carry on...........

My solution would be a button to report irrelevant posts where the responder has not answered the question posed by the OP, I saw one yesterday where someone stated a separate battery was a requirement and was then told to get an MVP, these reports could be confirmed or dismissed by the mods.

A scoring system of pictures of upto five muppets would then appear under your name depending on the frequency of your irrelevant responses.

Yeah, still waiting for the day when another major blackout is goin' to happen, cuz' someone couldn't find a battery to handle the power drain of the handwrapped 0.0001 ohm 40 Gigawatt coil and decided to hook it up to the mains... ;)

I don't know nothing about no gigawatts, but did a 4/3 wrap on some 10 ga Romex around hemp rope. With them jumper cables to the John Deere battery, I was blowing some pretty sweet vapes.

I've never understood why people post advice not relevant to the op's question. It's like reading a book and someone stuck a paragraph from another book into it, throws the whole thing off. I've been lucky and any questions I've asked have been answered quickly and with absolute sincerity. LoL, there was one where I posted about wanting a SVD or a Tesla and that I couldn't afford a Provari so these were the two I was considering. Three post into it and someone stated I should get a Provari, LOL...I didn't have to reiterate cuz' like most of you there were other poster's who didn't appreciate it for me. I love ECF and it's members, they are AWESOME!! Happy Vaping :vapor:

As a noob, I agree with the OP. I had to go into my local shop and buy a kit because I tried to work out what I needed but it's very confusing. I'm still not even sure what to call my thing, which is why I've been calling it a "pipe". Please what should I call it? the metal bit under the clear bit that holds the liquid says 'iClear 16 VW/VV'. Is this good?

Call it an ecig. Or if you prefer, call it an APV (advanced personal vaporizer).

In my opinion, you did the right thing by going to a shop. I'll bet you learned a lot from the experience, and you will learn even more from having and using one.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

I hope you're right and that the store he went to gave him good information. I know my one-and-only local store is not very good - they given me information ranging from wrong ('top-coil clearos will leak into your battery and short it out') to downright dangerous ('this unprotected battery will work fine in the bolt mech').

That sounds like Innokin products. The part the liquid goes into is called the iclear 16 meaning it is an Innokin clearomizer that holds 1.6ml of liquid.

The vw/vv part sounds like the battery is the iTaste VV version 3 which just means it is variable voltage and variable wattage. All VV/VW does is allows you to adjust either voltage or wattage to give a warmer (higher) or cooler temperature. That feature does more than just temperature but it is really irrelevant for the moment.

Does it look like this? Innokin iTaste VV V3.0 - High Desert Vapes If so most people who have it seem happy with it.
