ProVari is an awesome and dependable mod, got mine after only a month vaping and after ALOT of research. Good choice and you will have fun learning about voltage, ohms and your own tastes. I currently enjoy both carto and atomizer tanks with mine. I may suggest a dual coil carto tank and vape it at a higher voltage to fully enjoy that bad-... mod!
You might want to start off with a ego twist from joyetech or a spinner before using a provari to get use to VV.
Yes, I agree. If you aren't at the level to know what to buy for a Provari, then maybe you should start simpler first?
I have an eGo-T 1000mah passthrough, and it was only $17 from High Desert Vapes. Great deal, in my opinion. (Not trying to promote a single company or anything, it's just where I got mine from).
With a cheaper battery, you can work your way up to a really expensive mod like a Provari. I'd even go as far to suggest a Vamo v2, since they're so cheap now. In fact, I just ordered one a few days ago. Vamos are great mods that can cost between $26 and $75, depending on where you get it from.
With those prices, you can still get a Provari later, if you enjoy those, and not feel bad about it. Plus, you'll have multiple vapes!

Going to second the suggestion of getting a Twist or Spinner setup first. Even if you get a Provari later you will still most likely use the Twist/Spinner and whatever clearos you happen to get for them. Heck I got a Twist, Vamo, and Provari loaded up right now.

I hate to go against the flow, but I must. I had an eGo twist and that relationship lasted about a month. If you've done research, have the money, and want one I say buy a Provari. It's great and will save you money in the long run. I wish I would have bought one first. It would have saved me a lot of money.
To answer your question I suggest going into a local ecig shop (if you have one in your area) and looking at different tank options. They can show you everything you need to know. I like carto tanks, but you have to figure out what works best for you.
I might just go this route, and wish to thank you ALL for your replies! I have to wonder, though; if I am to eventually wind up w/ a Provari, can I not just start with that? I am fairly mechanically inclined....
I would start big, but that's my opinion. I think if you got the cash, go for it. It will save you in the long run.
I gotta disagree... go with a vamo first because its a tiny bit more for something similar to the provari. It also has variable wattage and has a longer battery life than the twist. I have the provari and the vamo and the only difference between the 2 is that the provari is built with better quality materials. They both do the exact same thing but the vamo has the variable wattage which the provari doesnt have but i dont use.

I would go with the vamo first since they are so cheap right now. I got my twist about a month ago and already ordered a vamo.

If you are sure vaping is for you, why not? You get a top-spec mod with great warranty and a killer resale value if you for some reason change your mind.
I only have one VV mod, the Volcano LavaTube, which would be I guess in between the levels of ProVari and VAMO. I've heard mixed opinions of several devices and I'm under the impression that you get what you pay for. Hence, I've heard mostly good things about ProVari, but it's a damn expensive mod. I've heard a few bad things about the VAMO, but it's only about $30 depending on the vendor.

is that it's better to waste/lose $30 than $200 and I'm sure the VAMO will suit your needs to at least find out whether a VV mod is the right thing for you. If you're at the level I'm guessing you are by the context, you'll probably be spending enough money finding the right atomizer to go on top of the device.

well see i'd try it out with an ego type to ease off of smoking with something closer to a cig. the motion is closer. then if you decide everything is right for you then i think the provari would be excellent but IN MY OPINION it could be too big too soon right off the bat
It seems like a somewhat fair price for the extra parts included, but if you do some shopping around, you may get better parts for cheaper, as well as be able to get a couple different atomizer styles to figure out which you like better. You might find the mod for cheaper elsewhere too. Perhaps someone more familiar with online vendors can point you to one. I don't know OKC Vapes from a hole in the ground but I know I've seen several posts within the last few days with cheaper VAMOs.

This is exactly why I said go big first. Spent $50 on a Vamo and then you'll buy a more expensive mod. I guarantee you'll end up with a Provari, so just start with one.
YES! I went the slowly-slowly 'work your way up' route... have a tonne of ego/ego twist batteries, and they are all collecting dust now. I have the provari and it is perfect for my needs, I just wish I would have gotten it earlier. The only benefit I can see from having gone down the route that I did is simply that I appreciate what I have now a lot more! If it appeals to you now and you can afford it, just go for it... then you can spend your money and time focusing on what delivery device you want to use. I'd recommend a carto/tank combination, or a clearomiser if you want a really easy setup. Oh, and try lots of different juices... having the right juice is sooooo important.
