Hi Randy---all of the heads now listed as Stardust heads are now dedicated stardust heads with the steel pip...

Talk about a day late and a dollar short... dang

Yesterday I ordered 3 eGo Clearo's v2.0 ( aka Replaceable Stardust ) from a good vendor in my own state with 3 heads because I wanted the heads to be the ones with the pip instead of the VN version that GV had initially... Thankfully I can at least be assured that these are not fakes since this is from a respected vendor... and I was able to get mine in different colors as well. Had I known, and since color was not a big concern... I sort of wish I'd waited another day ( was thinking it was going to be a week or two though ).

I'm really REALLY loving this design. It's so nice to be able to easily disassemble to clean it and drying time is almost nil. The only problem I had was there was one piece of wick on top of the coil making it impossible to see the coil glow during dry burning. Picked up that piece to clean, put it back for reuse and it was back to perfect. The only thing I wish is that the heads had some knurling like the base so it would be easier to remove.

Got my Stardusts in yesterday. Four filled at the moment. My 1st impression...ehhhh. Not knocking them, I just don't think I am a top coil person. Definitely tones down the flavors for me. I think my issue is that I have been using the BC Phoenix's for a few weeks now, and they have me SPOILED. I think the only possibility for personal improvement will be the Raven.
I'm not saying I hate the Stardust, I'll keep giving them hits over the next few days and see if I warm up to them. They do seem very well made, very easy to clean and I really like the easy filling without a syringe. I have some rebuildables and some not. The rebuildables definitely give more vapor for me from the start.
My biggest fear with all top coils are dry hits. I had a few hits early on in vaping that had my sinuses, throat and chest in pain for a few days. They have progressed quite a bit in the past six months so I figured I'd give them another chance.

If you're worried about dry hits, when it comes time to get new heads, order the long wick Vivi Nova heads. In normal vaping using those in the stardust, I haven't had a dry hit yet, and they suck up every last drop of liquid from the stardust. This is with 50/50 and 60pg/40vg juices.

Hi all... I've got a question about cleaning the Stardusts, and this applies to the Vivi Novas as well. Now that they're so delightfully easy to disassemble, is there any reason not to save the vodka/PGA for cleaning the heads and wash the other pieces with plain ol' hot water and dish soap? I'm referring to dish soap for hand washing (e.g. Dawn), not the abrasive kind for automatic dishwashers.

I've just thrown the parts in a cup of hot water for a minute or two, rinse, dry with paper towel, then blow out the base/post. Let dry for a minute, then pop a fresh head on. I haven't even used soap, and I don't think I need to.

I rinse off everything in hot water from the tap... I toss the heads into PGA to soak ( because my juice really gunks them up )... I then install a new head onto the Stardust ( or Viva Nova ) and reassemble. On rare occasion I'll pop the other components in the PGA just to sterilize them...

After the heads have soaked for a while... I pull them out, let them dry and finish up with a dry burn

I keep my PGA in a sealed bowl and reuse it until it starts to look a little bit amber colored from the heads. Once that happens I do empty the bowl and wash it before I refill it with some more PGA for soaking.

If you are worried about dry hits... learn to tilt more often to keep the wicks wet... It didn't take me long to get in the tilt habit

Long wick did help but they also seemed to mute the flavor more... so I cut all of my wicks down if they are long

I tried both the long wick and short wick version on the same juice side by side. Couldn't tell the difference taste or vapor wise.

I'm usually ok with just hot water too, but I've got a Stardust that I made the questionable decision to use for testing a juice that I've decided is not for me. Smells and tastes exactly like Skittles, they say. (true) If you loved Skittles as a kid (I did), you'll love vaping this juice as an adult, they say (ehhh).

Anyway... this skittle-juice has a very pronounced bright fruity scent, and hot water just isn't getting rid of it.I'm thinking soaking it in soap and water (then thoroughly rinsing of course) might do the trick.

That's happened to me too - gave it a long alcohol soak, good rinse, and a dry burn.... if I still smell the juice, I do it again.

The flavor issue... is very likely juice dependant... I just know that on all of the 3 ones I vape most of the time, there was a significant difference... We actually discussed this to length in the Viva Nova thread but finding it with a search would be a pain... but to sumerize it .... some juices ( or people perhaps ) it made a difference and others not so much....

Out of curiosity, what PG/VG ratio do you use?

I was talking about the parts, not the atty head. Atty heads get soaked overnight in Vodka (no PGA available around here), dried, dry burned, second vodka bath to get rid of any residue burned off during dry burn, then dried again.

Hot water should be sufficient to get rid of all residue on plastic and metal, but not in the wicks or internally in the atty.

I'm talking about the non-head parts as well. The skittle-scent is very strong on the tank and the mouthpiece, and hot water just ain't getting rid of it.

Unless anyone knows a compelling reason for not using dish soap on the non-head parts, I'm gonna give it a try, and I'll report back on the results.

I have had good results getting rid of "clingy" flavors soaking in white vinegar, then followed by good rinse.

I use peroxide for that sort of thing. But sulfates and I don't agree (heck I even MAKE my own non-sulfate shampoo), so I've never even been especially tempted to try soap....
