HI! Holy moly, a litre!?!?! That's crazy and awesome at the same time! Noticed you're from Melb too, is it just me or does it seem like there are very few Melburnians that are vaping?

On the contrary, over the past few months I have seen more vapers in Melbourne than in the last 14 months I have been vaping. Just a few weeks ago I saw someone vaping a box mod while driving. Also, there has been alot more media coverage regarding vaping in our local media. There was also a melbourne meet at the start of the month (I couldn't attend but would have had I not been crook).

steam has the auto battery and the nano vision clearo
vapeking just has the manual 280mAh 510 battery which is 90mm long too.
You'll have to ask steam how long their 510 is ;)

manual has a button like your current batery and most of them, auto ones you just suck on and they turn on themselves (more like using a cigarette) and they only exist in the smaller batteries AFAIK
link test, battery, and link at the bottom for the vision nano clearomizer to suit.

Vapebar has both manual and auto 510 batteries for $11 (ex GST prices on that site) Near the bottom of this page http://www.vapebar.com.au/genuine-joyetech-batteries/

Plenty from Melbourne, Sydney, Brissy, Perth, and lots of other places too. Most of us hang out on the Aussie Vapers Forum, but many also lead dual lives.

Vapoor eyes er, that list of definitions was AMAZING and SO HELPFUL, thanks so much for taking the time to write that all out, everything makes much more sense now haha.
You're very welcome and glad it helped.

If I purchase a battery with less power, .. will it be smaller/slimmer? And would my ProTank Mini fit on a smaller/slimmer battery? Is there anything else you can suggest that is a little more discreet .. maybe only a tiny bit larger/longer than a standard cigarette?
The Joyetech eRoll, Mini Electronic Cigarette is only 90 mah ( comes with a PCC- charging case). The cartridges only hold .4- .6 ml and the cartridges and atomizers are proprietary. ProTank will not fit on it.
If looking for something small but powerful consider the Mini eGo- 350 mah and fires at 3.7 volts. It's a manual battery that's button activated. Accepts the most common threaded accessories- 510 and eGo. ProTank will fit on it but ProTank Mini looks better.

Or if you want an automatic you could look at the SD KeyRing- 300 mah, fires at 3.7 volts and accepts 510 or eGo threaded devices. I own the SD Keyring and use it at concerts.

Both the above PVs may look small but they both kick like a mule.

Hi and welcome!

- An 900mAh EGO battery (in hind sight I probably should have bought 2 of these)
- ProTank II Mini
- Other bits including a case, charger and some extra coils just in case
- And of course Juice

Good setup! and yes, you need 2 :) One charging... one in use.

Now I do not know about cigalikes in Australia. I only know that in Germany, e-cigs that look like cigarettes are overpriced crap. They hold almost no liquid (their liquid tastes like crap, too) and the battery life is a joke. When it comes to battery life - uhm.. uhm.. yes, size does matter :D

If you absolutely, positively want to use a small thingy that looks like a cigarette when going out, then by all means, buy one. For use while going out.
But do enjoy your decent vaping setup at home ... or whenever you are not going out. To enjoy vaping :)

Best regards from Germany
Anja

Nameless - that's awesome! Might have to start paying more attention when I'm out and about! I have noticed more media coverage about e-cigs. much of the articles I've read are very critical though .. which is a shame.

pablo_h - Thanks so much for that info! I'll check them out .. the nano clearomizer to suit sounds good!

Fabricator4 - hahah - well now that I have more than 5 posts I can hang out in the Aussie forums too :)

Mark Anthony - thanks mate!!

Vapoor eyes er - Thanks so so much again for your suggestions. I'm not a fan of anything with a cartridge that needs to be regularly replaced/refilled etc. I'm way too lazy for that sort of thing so I LOVE the sound of the eGo Mini, I think that would be absolutely perfect to switch to when I'm out and about - the size is ideal!

Ahhhh, I feel like this is going to be an expensive hobby - the more I read on these forums the more I want to buy haha.

Thanks Anja!! :) :)

I completely agree -amazing how much you learn on these forums .. I used to think the c-cig world was limited to those cheap/thin e-cigs haha. I think I might forget about buying a thin one - seems like a waste of time and money.

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie from Australia!

I tried to do the responsible thing and find the information I need by browsing these forums but I'm uh, fairly overwhelmed to say the least and was hoping for some advice please.

I'm a full time smoker trying to finally kick the habit .. I've tried e cigs in the past however one was a cheap cigarette look-a-like which was fine for about a week, the other (I can't even remember what it was), but frankly it bothered me that it didn't LOOK like a cigarette...

I haven't really seen anyone else puffing away on electronic cigarettes down under so I'm hoping to find something relatively discreet that I can pull out in social settings/at work without drawing too much attention. But following my experience with the other two, I'm ready to invest in something more durable, with a longer battery life, easy to use/refill, cost effective etc. etc.

Edit: I forgot to add that although I've used e cigs in the past, I really have no idea what I'm doing.

My other problem is, being in Australia, where should I purchase the device and the liquid?

Thanks so much! :)

Hi fellow Aussie, try this out www.ecigaretteaustralia.com.au this is where I got my X6 setup from. It's a little expensive but the batteries last for a few days nonstop:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Welcome to ecf. I am still pretty new too. It's hard to beat the prices at Fasttech. I have ordered a lot from them to get me going. I guess you get tired of hearing it, but I have always wanted to go to Australia. Since I will never fly, guess I'll just have to stick with eating at the Outback. heehee Love me some Bloomin Onions. Glad you are here and look forward to reading about your successes. Good luck.

You're very welcome. The eGo mini can used with any 510 or eGo threaded clearomizer and if you're not into refilling cartridges it's definitely the easy way to go. Best to get a 1.6 ml clearo at 1.8- 2.0 ohms and make sure it's rebuldable- when the head (coil+ wick) is dead just unscrew and screw in a new one- cheap, easy and economical.
I've been vaping for 2 yrs and have all sorts of Mods, batts, juice, clearo, cartos- enuff to last another 1+ yr and I've spent less than $800. My secret is to never buy version 1/ new releases as they're usually expensive and don't work right- thus version 2, 3.... I also always buy on sale.
Here's a deals site:
Vapor Joes - Daily Vaping Deals
Here's a Vendor in China that sells VERY cheap- realize though some products are knockoffs BUT some are genuine. Ask here first. I've bought stuff there at 50% discount. Realize they are presently having issues with China Post refusing to ship batts or juice so shipping time and getting your stuff delivered are issues to deal with.

If you're going to approach vaping as a hobby - then yes, it can get expensive very quickly (esp if you get the latest and greatest mods/fads). However, if you are vaping to quit smoking, then the cost doesn't even compare. I used to smoke a carton of winnies a week (at the time about $140/week - so about $280 a fortnight). People say, for example, a Provari is overpriced - but compared to a fortnight of smokes, it is nothing!

Also, I can make a $250 order from, say, HealthCabin (over $250 qualifies for free express shipping to Australia - gets from China to Melbourne in 4 business days) and get about 3 month's worth of gear (maybe even longer). A fortnight of smokes to several months' worth of ecig gear - it's a no-brainer!

On a side note, I'd love to find out how much a carton of winnies costs these days... Alot more than 14 months ago I'm sure...

That's true, esp the Today/Tonight type sensationalism. But some is positive - University of Queensland are doing a proper study of the effects of vaping - hopefully will be a positive outcome.

Thanks Rat2chat2! Wishing you luck too! I'll definitely check out Fasttech as well. I think I have everything I need for now :D. You should definitely come to Australia! Why won't you fly if you don't mind me asking? We could swap for a week, I'd love to visit the US one day. Australia's great ... but just a bit too far away from the rest of the world.

Brilliant! Thanks again Vapoor eyes er! Great tips! Have added those to my list of favourites. I think I have everything I need for now. Ordered some additional batteries including the Minis, some more clearomizers etc. And my juice just arrived so have finally started vaping! :D :D :D

Actually, I have one more question (please) with regard to juice ... how much juice would you say is enough? I'm worried I'll find myself in a situation where I haven't planned ahead and I run out while waiting for a re-order and then resort to analogues out of desperation ..

Great point Namelesss, I might have to be more practical about this and treat it as a quit aid rather than get caught up with the newest and best. Those Provaris look pretty damn cool though. I'll have to check out HealthCabin as well, 4 business days is brilliant - I had to wait 8 days for my juice to arrive from Halo.

You're totally right - I forget how much I spend on cigarettes every week. A pack of Dunhill 25s is $19 at the moment, and prices set to go up again in December.. it's outrageous.

Exactly! When I told my friends/family I bought an e-cigarette they blew up with all this garbage they've heard about how "bad e-cigs are for you". Great to hear they're doing a study! Can't wait to hear their outcomes.
