Instead of trying to see if the wick is dry or not, when the inhale gets a bit rancid, I use a paper clip to poke through the hole on the outer cartridge and plunge the inner cartridge down onto the atomizer, thus squeezing mixture from the bottom of the wick right to where it's needed. The rancid inhale disappears and a nice plume is produced again. A less fiddly method than pulling off the cartridge and doing things with tweezers but any drawbacks?
I use a .... tecnique ( not that I .... at all ) to get nice hits from my e-cig. There are two holes on my e-cig which I rapidly cover and uncover with the tips of my fingers when inhaling thus creating a pressure rush during inhale and a pleasant enough hit.
