Would help to know what atomizer it is, the diameter of the coil, the style of coil and your wick material. Could be a few things. First thing that comes to mind is a bad wick material or the coil diameter is two small or not enough wraps of the coil(S) or there are not enough twist in the coil. Best wick material I have found is Japanese Organic Cotton. Loads better than silica, ecowool, regular organic cotton and Rayon. I have to change the wick a lot less than silica even because it wicks so well unless it runs dry you don't burn it or a juice that has a lot of organics or is a naturally dark juice gunks it up.

Heat from the coil is related to the coil's structure, the resistance is just the outcome. Instead of thinking in terms of resistance you want to look at the coil properties. What's gauge wire are you using, what is your coil internal diameter, how many wraps? How close are the coils to your air intake? All that can make a big difference. Then the next vape property is wicking. The only question here is how efficient is your wick for your particular build?

If you an post a picture of your coil and wick we can get an idea of why you may be getting a hot vape.

If you check out Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators you can plug in the numbers for your build and vary the heat flux by wattage to get an estimate of the vape temp (cool-warm-hot). The idea here is that number of wraps along with coil I.D. with a particular gauge can get you similar resistances with different amounts of surface area.

Also, sometimes people use high nic juices on their RDA which can result in a harsher hit.

You can probably move the coils a litter farther out on the deck closer to the air holes on the top cap, but the placement still looks okay. How are your coils firing? Do they glow evenly?

It looks like the wick could be improved. Maybe it's just the picture. but some of the tails coming right out of the coil look a little slim. What are you using to wick? Japenese Kohgendo is extremely easy to work with and is highly recommended for RDA systems.

Hot leg and/or unbalanced coils. That's my guess. Those two dark spots are telltale.

Try gently pulling both coils out closer to directly above the air slits, and then gently spread each coil out a bit.

My mistake, did not know this RDA had airflow coming from under. My advice of pulling out toward the top cap may have been misleading.

DNA 50. Freakshows Atty. .6Ω after a few seconds the vape gets too hot. Great flavor at 35 watts but hot quick. Dropped down to 25 watts and get a few more seconds then hot. What am I doing wrong? HELP:vapor::toast:

That's pretty obvious. But doesn't help.

maybe drop the watts some more

maybe you need more airflow

maybe you need different wicking

Try building something that normally takes a while to get hot on something like a mech mod. I recently started using vw and noticed that its usually better to use more wire. Some parallel coils or twisted work great. The picture I'll post would normally take quite a while to heat up on my mech but on 30 watts or so it heats up quick enough but doesnt get hot. Its twisted 28, 9 or 10 wraps .8 ohms I believe

If you don't want a hot vape then why are you using such low resistance and high power? Try 8 watts and properly juice your wick.

The dope at the B&M who sold me the wire asked me what I was after ( either flavor or clouds ). I said flavor , then he told me that this is how I should build it for "flavor". I'm still a newbie and I figured he was telling me the right way to go.
