hey all,
back story first....
i am now recovering (should be last day) from a flu/cold that affected my throat, taste buds, nose and everything else. before getting sick (the past few weeks) i have had vapers tongue. this is only an assumption because i was/am getting almost zero taste from my liquids that i once got taste from. hopefully i am healthy in a day or two and my vapers tongue vanishes soon.
on to it...
i am interested in creating my own e-juice (i think this is the most appropriate term, please correct me if im wrong). mostly because of cost, trying something new and having the ability to tailor my flavours to my liking.
first things first, read. i did a lot of reading over the past few hours (gotta love being off of work today). my reading was not exclusive to this site but most info was gathered here on one thread or another. (side note, big thanks to everyone who contribute to the community and help those with less experience with what they need)
ive compiled a short list of basic items needed to start my journey into diy liquids.
list...
empty bottles (for mixes)
syringes with low gauge needles (measure and transfer liquids)
droppers/pipettes (when experimenting with bigger batches i assume or dropping onto my rda)
unflavoured pg and vg with nic. (curious why i should use these versus pg and vg and nic to make a more tailored mix)
pure pg/vg (i guess to more tailor the mix from above, still a bit unclear why i need both instead of just this or just the above)
flavouring (obvious)
latex/nitrile gloves (for safety reasons pertaining to handling liquids that may be dangerous to skin contact)
isopropyl alcohol (for cleaning, a clean station is a happy station. cooking background, can ya tell?)
trays or the like (for catching spills and easy cleaning)
tweezers (no idea why i need these but i have them so i may have a use for them)
so i really only have a few questions before i start ordering things...
1. what ppg/vg/nic should i get? im a bit unclear on why you would want both pure and pg/vg mixed with nic.
2. did i miss anything on my list? im big on being prepared and id rather not start mixing and realize that im missing something and have to wait longer.
3. i will wait to test mixes until my vape tongue is gone but is it normal to taste fresh and then steep and test again or just let steep first and then test? i know most mixes get better with age and being new, id like to know what people normally do.
4. i will look into getting an ultrasonic cleaner because steep times suck. is there a recommended model or site to use or will any do? seems like they're all about the same.
5. ive seen some reviews for sites for flavour/nic/pg/vg both positive and negative, is there a common agreement on best site for each?
6. what do most people test their mixes with? id probably use my basic rda and maybe have my buddy taste test as well on his rda unless there is a better option.
7. have i missed anything else?
thanks in advance to anyone who reads this and more thanks if you offer answers/opinions/comments.
cant wait to get a few things better understood and start ordering
