Newbie Nightmare--Too many choices and didn't like the 2 I all ready spent big money for

Hello everyone!

I would like to quit my 1-2 pack a day mini-cigar habit--only menthols. I switched to cigars from cigarettes for price reasons. I am a tightwad and proud of it but I'm also picky. My favorite little cigarette like cigar was Action but they have been replaced in my area with a brand called Sparrow and I don't like Sparrow. My current favorite is Cheyenne Extreme Menthol little cigarette like cigars--not the Cheyenne cigarettes--those taste like tobacco scented air and burn up like poof! Anyway, the Cheyenne Extreme Menthol is hard to find and it's out of my preferred price range when I do find it--$1.79 per pack. I was only paying 79 cents per pack for the Action brand so it really bugs me to pay more than double.

I tried vaping a couple years ago with an NJOY Pro and did not like it at all and I really did try. It was way too hard to draw and produced very little vapor for me.

Recently, I tried one of the non-variable EVOD devices and while it was better than my experience with the NJOY, it still didn't have enough of a hit for me and seemed too hard too draw through but my brother-in-law has a variable one and seems to be able to draw plenty with his.

So, I guess I need some help finding the easiest draw, lots of vapor, good throat hit but not like an unfiltered Kool, and I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a bazillion little atomizers,tanks, batteries and cartridges. I don't mind putting the little drops in like the EVOD used but I don't want to do it every time I decide to vape, either so I'm guessing I will probably want to refill the cartomizer things to start and maybe work up to the tanks or can I pre-fill some tanks and just swap them out like the cartomizers? I don't mind fiddling with all the little pieces but I don't want to set it up every single day and I don't want to make it take any longer in the mornings to get myself and my vaporizer ready for work than absolutely necessary.

Do they make a no-fuss, no-muss e-cigarette yet that doesn't cost a fortune & still provides a "smoking" experience? Would I be better off with the e-pipes? I don't really care what it looks like either as long as it works.

1. Easy Draw--very easy. NJOY is out--way out. EVOD was better but did't provide enough vapor on the non-variable model I tried.
2. Good vapor to lots of vapor.
3. Option to refill or larger capacity tank so it doesn't have to be refilled 20 times per day.
4. Decent battery life. I can carry spares easily enough but I think 3 should last me an entire day easily.
5. Pricing has to be no more than $2.00 per day on average and preferably $1.50 per day on average.

Is there such an animal out there?

A 1.8ohm head in your evod should solve your vaper problem. With standard ego batteries you should try to stick with 1.8ohm heads for bottom coil and can go a bit higher with top coil clearos.

After rereading your post an evod shouldnt have a tight draw, if it does there is some sort of problem going on.

If I'm reading your post correctly, you tried your brother-in-law's gear and want to get a set-up of your own. Is that correct? What is your budget for the initial purchase?

I have an eVic and I love it. It is probably a little overkill for you though. But I would look into a VV mod and try a Cartomizer tank. I just got one friday and it is great! I get great flavor, vapor production, throat hit, and capacity. I can fill mine up and vape all day on it, and I chain vape kinda heavy. I also dont get the nasty burnt juice taste I get from the larger capacity clearo tanks either.

Kanger Protank and iTaste MVP. Both can be found on fasttech.com with an easy search at the search bar, but type in those exact product names for accurate results. I'd link you, but it's not so easy on the kindle. Both together will run you about $60. ($2 a day) One time investment and will last quite a while. I was looking for the same thing as you, and found it with these two. The battery life on the MVP is around 26+ hours. The protank holds almost 3ml of liquid and most people complain about the airy draw, which is exactly what I was searching for.

Once you get your hardware issues sorted (I'd just get a couple 1300mAh Vision Spinners, a charger and some EVODs and then rebuild the heads yourself (lots of easy tutorials on youtube and a years supply of 32awg and 3mm silica can be found on eBay for ~$20) then the biggest cost savings in vaping is DIY your juice. There's a whole section on ECF about safe DIY'ing and you can get your juice costs down from $.50-$0.75/ml to about $0.15/ml. For me at 3-5ml/day that's only $0.45-$0.75 + $0.23 ($85 worth of hardware for 365 days) so ¢68 to ¢98/day...

Halo Triton. Good taste, good throat hit, great vapor production, large leak-free tanks. I get a full day out of the standard 650 mAh batteries- albeit I don't chain vape all day. $65 for the starter kit.

First of all you need to change your coil on your evod to clear up the draw problem. If you still don't like it, then unlike many vapers you're going to need an airier draw. The Protank is very airy and can use your evod coil heads. You need variable voltage if you want to customize your vape to a "best" vaping experience. A Vamo is a good start, or the Twist/Spinner route if you want to stay with ego/stick batts. That will give you what you're looking for. Match that gear with a good juice and you're going to like the vape, imho. You're almost there and a few adjustments are going to be like night and day. Best to you. Halo Triton is a good choice, I use them daily, fast charging the Triton tanks are clearos that don't leak. I use cartos because I prefer them to clearos but the Triton is good. I like the size of the ego style batts best. bnrk

If I had to do over again I would have went straight to tanks or carto tanks and a decent mod to start. I originally got a BLU cig kit and was underwhelmed. Then I learned you could use any 510 carto on them so I bought a bunch of those and some liquid. Then I got tired of filling them all the time and upgraded to the Kanger Protank, a couple vapeonly BCC's and EVOD clearomizers using either my vamo or my VV ego battery.

Now I have an efficient vaping system and enough attachments to switch out flavors quickly and easily. Hope that helps!

I am getting information overload and don't want to spend another $100 on a setup that I will be giving away again in a month because it just didn't work for me.

I think the add-ons and all the acronyms are what is confusing me. I will go back & read some of the responses to try & piece it all together into non-vaper language--LOL.

So, you do NOT want a cigalike? I am confused as to what you originally purchased and gave away.

I originally tried an NJOY kit about 2 1/2 years ago. It was like trying to suck a golfball through a garden hose and absolutely did not work for me so I gave it away.

I thought the brand name of the gizmos my brother-in-law and his wife are using was EVOD but if I'm understanding the terminology, EVOD is a system or method.

I don't care if it looks like a cigarette or a big honking .... if it works! I would prefer it as portable as possible but lasting all day without having to fiddle with it is more important to me. Easy to draw is #1, good vapor & kick tied for #2. Least amount of fiddling with it #3.

What really attracted me to Halo was that is its own ecosystem. You don't need to worry about what goes with what. They have done the research and put together what I consider the perfect delivery system. I didn't want vaping to be work. I just wanted something that works.

A Protank or Evod with Protank head should be a decent delivery device, with that airy draw you're looking for. I'm running a Vivi Mini Nova on my Vamo at the moment and as far as a battery/PV device goes I'd recommend the Vamo hands-down, once you get twenty posts in and verify yourself on here you can browse the classified section, usually Vamos pop up fairly often at good prices, including batteries and chargers. A 18650 battery should last you all day or longer even if you vape heavily. I can't recommend the Nova since I feel like the draw would be a lot tighter than you want, but it works for me..

As far as keeping long-term costs down, DIY is the way to go, or buying liquid in bulk from a reputable vendor like MyFreedomSmokes or Mt. Baker, I worked it out in another post and 1ml of liquid from MBV in a 50ml bottle comes to $0.22. On average expect to vape 3-5ml a day starting out, especially if you misjudge the nicotine level or are trying flavors, but after that you'll be able to settle into one or two juices and just stock up on those.

Again, the initial investment for a good setup isn't exactly cheap all the time, but break it down by looking at the health benefits and analogs you're not buying, and it'll make up for itself quickly. Best part about the Vamo or even an eGo Spinner/Twist/etc is that the batteries themselves are good quality and you can just experiment with different delivery mechanisms, tanks, clearos, cartotanks, etc, and not have to replace your battery/PV.

Edit: Also, if you're looking for clouds of vapor, you need high-VG liquids, at least 50/50 or better. If you get a good bottom-coil tank that can handle 70/30 VG/PG then I'd go with that, the throat hit will be lower but you can just up the nicotine level or vape a harsher flavor if you find yourself craving a strong TH.

Why not be easy on yourself and get a Kanger evod kit. Maybe $50. If you buy the larger evod battery, you won't have to charge as often as there are two in the kits with two evod clearomizers. These clearomizers hold the e liquid and have a part that can be replaced for very little money. It is called the head. They are sold separately but the kit will come with what you need to start.

Sorry, I tried to keep the initials and "vapespeak" to a minimum, but evod is the name of the Kanger (manufacturer) style I am telling you about. Can't get around that. I have had these for two months and I am pleased. If I never bought another piece of equipment, I could vape these forever. However, FOR ME, a big part of the fun is learning about this hobby and I am upgrading slowly but surely. But, I will always want something I understand, is easy and I know will provide a good vape for me on a consistent basis as a back up (thus the Kanger setup). Kinda like my cars: key in ignition, gas in tank, routine maintenance and vroom, vroom. (I have enough trouble keeping my Peterbilt running...almost as cantankerous as a Harley!).

Then get some e liquid. That is another entire issue and lots of fun if you can keep an adventuresome attitude. There are so many wonderful flavors to try and the nicotine concentration can be adjusted according to your needs. My advice: if you are unsure about level of nicotine and are looking at two different possible levels, get the higher level of concentration. You can always dilute it later with some unflavored e liquid to get the concentration you need. Not so easy to increase the concentration without getting into more math and additional supplies. I have 18mg and 0mg e liquid of some of the same flavors and I can adjust according to me needs. Higher in the a.m. when I am making up for the night of abstinence, lower before bed so I can sleep easily.

IMHO, pipe smokers have the right vaping mentality. They are already into the equipment, the cleaning, the filling, keeping it lit etc. If you are a smoker who just wants to "buy a pack and smoke, don't bother me with any other effort", I suppose you will need to keep smoking, cause that isn't what vaping is about. Half the fun is the hobby that develops.
