Hi, I'm new here, but have been vaping for some time. I wish I could post this in the health forum, because I think it applies, but here goes.

I am having surgery tomorrow and I was told to quit vaping 4 weeks prior. I know I'm bad....I love to vape, and I wasn't able to quit entirely but did cut down. I am not vaping today, so I was wondering if anyone here has continued vaping all the way up to surgery and what your outcome was. Did you have any delayed healing or adverse health effects as a result of not quitting nicotine? I'd love to hear any suggestions, comments, etc. Your input is very appreciated. Thanks!

Officially, of course, I'm saying you should do what your Dr tells you...no vaping.

Unofficially, they told me the same thing when I used to smoke analogs...did I listen? NOPE! Didn't have any issues, but that doesn't mean you won't. I'd be sure to tell them that you still vaped, but did cut down.

...listen to your Doc...now that I said that, I had hip replacement surgery a couple of years ago, they told me the same thing(smoking analogs at the time)...was warned of DIRE consequences..I didn't even slow down, quit for the 3 daze I was in the hospital and lit up before the car started when I left...I had absolutely no problems at all...BUT, listen to your Doc...as always, the choices are yours to make..............

I also say listen to your doc, that out of the way, I also had some surgery's and they told me not to smoke, before I started vaping, and I still smoked like I was going to die the next day, and I was fine. Also smoked when I had my wisdom teeth removed but I paid the price for that one with dry sockets and slow and painful healing...Should of listened to the doc is all I can say.

As everyone else said, you should listen to your doctor, but....

I've only had any kind of surgery once, on my knee. The doctor gave me strict instruction to not smoke for several days before surgery. I got to the hospital about 30 minutes early so I'd have time to chain-smoke until I checked in. When I got out, my family decided they needed to help me obey the doctor's instructions, so they took away my crutches and I couldn't use them to go outside for a smoke. I found that I could hold my leg up enough to crawl out to the back patio.

I still have both legs, the surgical scars aren't noticeable enough to stop me from wearing shorts, and I don't have a limp. All in all, it didn't seem to have affected me much.
