Hello everyone!

I am new to this site (found you all via Google) and am anxious to get all the information I can about these new electronic cigarettes.

I have been smoking for about 20 years (1/2 to 1 pack a day depending on stress level). I have smoked Marlboro Lights and Mediums the entire time.

As I have read through some of these forums, I have noticed that many of the newbies start out by wanting to find an e-cig that closely matches their current ciggy of choice, and I, of course, feel the same way (lol).

Furthermore, I see that a lot of long time smokers have been able to quit using these....this gives me hope. I want to quit smoking. My mother has developed emphysema and I am frightened.....yet, I cannot find it in me to quit (I have tried patches, gum medications, etc.) and I always end up picking back up. I guess along with the addiction to nicotine, I am also addicted to the ritual of smoking. I love it and hate it at the same time. I am sure you all know where I am at.

So, where to go from here? I am interested in this......I have seen suggestions from other members to shop around and try to find what will suit me the best.....

I would like the kind that gives the most vapors of course, a good "throat hit" and resembling my Marlboros......not sure which brands are good and which are not......which is why I am asking for input from you all.

Anyway.....my real name is Kathryn, I reside in Portland, Oregon and am getting ready to go into Nursing school. I don't want to be smelling like a cigarette as a nurse (it is really frowned upon in the medical community).

In closing, any suggestion would be awesome and I look forward to virtually getting to know some of you.....

Cheers......Kathryn

Kathryn,
If you want it to resemble a real cig ( I do too) and you want the simplest of the great performers, order the Vapor King at Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Ultimate Starter Kit with the short batteries. Others are going to come here and say order the manual, but as someone new to e cigs; I think it is better to go with what is simplest at the start. You can always order different batteries later if you want. As for taste, no e cig actually tastes like the real thing, but the good news is, they actually taste better. I love the Caramel Mocha Frappachino Cartomizers. Buy the 24 mg strength to start. I have been doing this for a year now and have ordered just about everything out there, including the mods. I always come back to the VaporKing for its simplicity, its taste, and its throat hit. You need to give yourself some time getting used to it because despite what many here say, not everyone loves vaping from the start. I did not, but now I do. Don't think you HAVE to quit smoking the moment you get the kit. It puts too much pressure on many, and they give up vaping. I still have one-three cigarettes a day because I can't seem to handle the emotional detachment of throwing them away for good. I am happy with this situation and will probably continue with it permanently.

Seems like the more it looks like a real cig the less it performs, you might want to compromise with how it appears. Yes the E-cig is probably the easiest way to put down tobacco, it worked for me. Spend some time reading the forums, they have specific threads on the various models and even have vendors on the bottom of the front page. One you read you can make a decision on what you want to start with. Most often people end up with several different models trying to find the one that's best for them. I'm sending some of the equipment I don't use anymore to my sister so she can get started.

I like your idea of smoking a few cigs a day. I think the idea of just throwing them out completely is scary for me.....I liken it to a trapaze artist hoping to connect hands with the next trapeze artist with no net underneath (lol....nice visual, huh?). It feels scary for some reason. Makes me realize just how attached I am to these smokes......scary stuff!

BTW, how do you all get the "ticker" on the bottom of the page?

Not sure I think it has to do with the way this forum prevents spammers. You need 10 posts perhaps to have sig option via the control panel. 15 posts before you can post url links etc.

That signature banner is done via bbc code or some vendors have a free banner creator I found one on the Totally Wicked forums you just enter your quit date packs per day and price etc and it creates the bbc code you can cut/paste into your signature.

I'm almost to 10 posts to find out but I don't want to spam so trying to post helpful info in various threads to reach that count lol.
