Hi everybody.
Reletively new to this vaping lark. Gave up my pipe reluctantly on May 16 last year 2016. Started vaping with a crap Chinese pipe that looked the biz but didn't work. Bought a vape pen then progressed to a Smok Guardian 3 pipe mod. Love it. On my 3rd one already cuz they don't like being dropped. Recently bought a Smok Alien 220. Different but so far OK. Having trouble setting it up though and it seems to eat coils at the mo. Still got the Guardian for back up with plenty of coils. Prefer vaping to smoking because it is not only cleaner but far more practical! Looking forward to some interesting chats.

Welcome.
What type of issues are you having with setting up your Alien?

Hi Tonee.
I killed the 1st coil within 24hrs! Using my old juices that I use in my Guardian which are usually 50/50 18mg at 40w, 250v. I took the Alien back to the shop and they recommended 80/20 at 6mg but at 65w. Trying it but it's still not as satisfying as the old pipe. I cant figure out what wattage and volt or temp settings to use to get a more satisfying smoke. Not interested in the amount of cloud I get, just want to maximise the throat hit like my genuine tobacco pipe used to.

Sorry I'm lost in house full of wildfire smoke.
These coils?

The guardian is set currently at 41w, temp at 240f using micro- CLP2 coils.

I have a TC tank and I set it up at 450-475 degrees with the airflow wide open and I have a flat restricted drip tip. I am getting great cloud density and flavor at a comfortable temperature. It feels like a pipe. So much so that I just bought a pipe that will fit the tank. It's a 22 mm Horizon Tech V8 (4 mls) and I'm using the 0.20 Ohm nickel coils.

There isn't a single setup I use under 400f. If there's a choice to set watts within TC, that goes on 40-50w. Most don't offer that option, mind you.
It's hard enough getting a decent vape under 400f because all the mod wants to do is 'trim' the power enough to protect the temp setting.
Unless I'm confused, the CLP coils always used to be Kanthal for VW. But things move on, maybe they're temp coils.

Thanks for that. I have a pipe coming in and I'm going to have to figure out what Wattage I want to set it to in TC mode. I have been going 450-475 F and it feels good to me on an old TC mod.
