Yep. I started vaping two days ago and haven't had a cigarette in 47 and a half hours. Woo Hoo! Getting the hang of it is a little overwhelming. It's not too bad, but I'm having a hard time with refilling the cartomizer. I got some of the liquid into the middle part and when I took a drag I think some got in my mouth. It probably wasn't much but, after being warned about the dangers of nicotine being absorbed through skin, I kinda freaked out. It had been a long time since I've tasted dish soap but I'm not giving up!
I'm really glad this forum exists! I've read a lot of posts today while working up the courage to add one and everyone seems really supportive.

Serious Newbie Alert: Like using my new e-cigg, I'm also trying to figure out how to post on this thread. If this shows up twice I'm really sorry!

Nah, looks fine here -- and congrats to you too! Y'all are making me so jealous; maybe since I found this Virginia flavor I'm just loving, I can get off the smokes even sooner than I imagined.... I had given myself a very generous goal, to be smoke-free by the end of this year... but hey, I didn't know then that I could find an e-juice that I liked as much as my cigarettes, or even more. But this one tastes nearly identical, with an even better throat-hit than my [ultra-light!] cigarettes!

Wow, this is confusing. I just got my first ecig last Sunday. I got it in Florida but evidently I can't get the liquid shipped here To Canada..Any advice would be appreciated. Been 3 days since my last cigarette. I think this is great, but not sure what to do about getting more liquid. I have ego-t. Mixed two flavors and I really like it. Have to do some serious research when I get back to Canada. This simple set up seems to be working for me

Check out the Canada Forum for suggestions/recommendations for vendors.

If you get liquid in the center tube, before putting it back on the battery, hold it over a napkin or paper towel and blow from the mouthpiece end, you can generally blow the excess liquid out of the center tube.

I was so overwhelmed from the magnitude of this forum and the days I spent reading, still not knowing what to purchase. I wanted to start and spending days on here trying to decide what to order and the wait was getting me nowhere. I drove down to the local B&M and let them set me up to start. Since then I have ordered 3 Kanger PT mini 2's to replace the plastic CE4's they sold me that were hit and miss.

I got into Aroma eJuice and WTA for juice to try to help me to let go of the 3-4 analogs a day. I ordered other liquids and am now waiting for my third order on the second week. Their juice is so good. I am down to 1-2 analogs right now. Running out of juice and my order should be here tomorrow. I found a few days of steeping makes their juice pure perfection. So I thought when I placed this last order it would be here in time to steep. NOPE... I am running out, and may have one day left. boo

I am trying to learn an easy way to DIY my liquids. It is very overwhelming right now to me. I think I will keep reading and making a list and keep ordering more juice until I am ready to attempt a batch of DIY.

Geez. This stuff made me leave the stinkies and moved my addiction to vape gear and juice.

I picked up my first e-cig on January 3rd, a Blu. Since then I've gone to a G6, then Triton, then Triton VV, then Provari. Now I'm wrapping my own coils with a couple different RBA's - oh and lets not forget the drip attys, drip tips, ohm meter, spare coil assemblies for 4 different tanks and 40+ bottles of juice, SS mesh, silica, syringes, spare bottles, spare batteries, chargers - you get the idea.

It has taught me two important things:

  1. I need what I want
  2. Buy once, Cry once

It's all ECF's fault. I keep learning more things here, then I have to try it myself.

But it's all good.

How'd that Blu work out for you? Don't answer, that was rhetorical. :) Worthless.

*Round of applause!!* Congrats, that is awesome! I haven't laid 'em down completely yet, but they seem to be getting less and less, so at least it's going in the right direction... :)

Cool; I'm no chef, just a housewife that loves to cook (and my family seems to think I'm really damn good at it -- they eat every bite and look around for more, so I know they're not just SAYING that!), and I agree, this is kinda fun, mixing flavors to come up with your very own favorites.

What kind of ADV are you looking for, something tobacco, or non-tobacco? If it's tobacco... what kind of cigarettes did you smoke? I'm a VA slims smoker (for a little longer!) and it was very hard to find a tobacco flavor I like, because VA slims are not sweet at all; think I've finally found it, though, and I find myself reaching more for my eRoll that dragging my .... outside for a ....... :D

Congrats!

Thanks! Don't worry letting go of the cigs will come with time I'm sure. Everyone is different, it certainly wasn't easy for me but I knew the sooner I put the cancer sticks down the better I would feel.

Cooking actually was not in my "life plan", four years ago I was an IT/Tech Support guy. Working my nine to five, eating bad, smoking too much, sleeping too little, and never having very much job security due to our countries willingness to outsource jobs to third world countries.

My father was a chef and I had always dabbled in the restaurant industry to make a little cash tossing pizza and holding down a kitchen line without much ambition in taking the next step. I did love to cook, then during a vacation/ family reunion my uncle took me to his pub that he just opened up that was in serious need of attention/ direction. I mentioned that I had been learning how to BBQ for the last few years and was probably going home to yet another layoff situation. A month later I was unemployed and he called me with a promising offer. I was on a plane a week later with a duffle bag and the rest is history. Four years and I'm 75 pounds lighter, I still don't sleep enough, and now I'm off the smokes!

As far as an ADV goes I'm still not sure what I'm looking for. At the local vape stores I was able to test a ton of flavors and all the tobaccos tasted artificial to me. I was a camel smoker and would often switch between lights and menthols for more throat hit. The tobacco and menthol ejuice flavors just made me want a smoke more. At first I was put off by fruit flavors but took a liking to breakfast, coffee, and some sweeter flavors. I read that vapor chef does those well.

To all the newbies out there please don't be overwhelmed by all this info here. I been cig free for 4 months and this is my setup ego twist with a kanger protank mini. Granted I have 2. They have worked flawlessly with just some basic coil maintenance and good juice And i am very happy. Just to let you know u can get off really cheap and vape like a pro...In have those tanks filled with Hawksauce and Grape both from Mount Baker Vapor and got the Protank minis and ego's off ebay. Dont see any reason to upgrade at this time...

Thank you. When I first decided to go to Vaping, needless to say I was overwhelmed from the get go. Even this site seems intimidating to a new person. There are all kinds of mods, acronyms, and slang for different products. Thankfully, a few very nice members took pity on me and responded to my thread asking for help. I think I am on a good path now. I will be going to a B&M, (Brick & Mortar for those who are new...a physical store, not an online store.), today to check out some things and pick up a more advanced vaping set up than my present Mistic e-cig. (I am strongly leaning towards the Halo Triton starter system, but I will check out everything I can when I get there.)
To those just starting out like me...Keep the faith. There is a lot of good info at this place!

I am feeling a bit overwhelmed just started Wednesday and here is my kit, with my broken protank 2(the glass) View attachment 307026

Keep at it. This vaping industry has grown so fast, it is hard to keep up and can be confusing. Mistakes are expensive.
Just go with what you feel comfortable with. Then when you you want to change/upgrade, do a lot of reading online to see if what you like will work for you.
I started vaping 4+ years ago when eGo batteries were a big to do, atomizers for dripping, or cartomizers were it. I bought a Vapemate from Super-T Manufacturing (ecf vendor) and still have it and they still sell it. This was the 1st "tank" and still is great. So for 4 years I used the same setup: eGo battery, Boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers and Vapemate to supply the eliquid. As long as the Vapemate was somewhat upright, it did not leak e-liquid. I wanted to go to a non-leaking device for e-liquid.
I waited for the clearomizer leaking/gurgling issues to settle down, and just now have multiple Protank 2 with Aero air flow control base (no gurgling/leaking) and Mini Protank 2, spare pyrex glass and o-rings. I purchased a few Innokin Itaste VV version 3 from Fasttech so I have a clear display for Variable volts/Watts, ohms, battery power remaining. These fit in my back pocket, don't roll around, and work well with the Protanks. I learned from watching Youtube videos how to rebuild coils for the Protanks. Well if I can do it, anyone can. I was a carton a week smoker, coughed like crazy, and was getting out of breath so easily. My goal was to stop smoking.

Don't let all this get to you, and just focus on your goals.

fasttech was a god sent for me else i'd not be able to afford to vape :)
I know it's slow shipping but really highly recommend for new vapers to check them out as you can get things dirt cheap and experiment to find out what it is that you like and don't like without going broke and then once you find what works for you, if you want spend more money at other places if you really are against shopping from china or can't stand the wait
(just always read the reviews/discussions and ask questions here in the forums before placing an order :D )

but yes I think everyone's first gear should be a variable voltage ego with a metal vivi nova (top coil tank, warmer vape) and a glass protank type tank (bottom coil tank, cooler vape) to see which you prefer.

I'm just now trying out a cartotank it's on it's way....

I feel the same way, If it was not for FastTech I would not be able to have much of the vape gear I have now. The free shipping has saved me a bundle. Now if I could only find a place that free international shipping for juice I would be in heaven.

Yeah, I'm slightly overwhelmed as well. I thought I was rather technologically apt, but THERE ARE SO MANY ACRONYMS!! lol I just started vaping a week ago - I've been lurking on here a little bit, finding out various bits of information I needed to help myself, and I finally decided to register. I luckily have a friend who been vaping for a while, so I was able to get his advice on a lot.

I got myself a evic (of course the first one was DOA - which was good, gave my juice time to steep), with a Protank 2 to start - finally clicked it over to VW yesterday (which took me forever to figure out what it even meant), and kept on vaping. I love it, I can't believe it took me so long to switch over. I just ordered the Protank 3, I really want to try the dual coil setup now. And I figure I can keep the PT2 as a spare.

I am not as yet; I don't plan on letting it happen. I'm not special - I just don't want the fancy dual-coil massive capacity atomizers many love. Great for those who do; but at the moment my simple T3S and JoyeTech eGo-c passthrough batteries are doing the job quite well. I have looked at the "P-Word Battery" and perhaps as I progress - maybe; but, it's not a necessity.

Juices? I am still buying local and quite content. I was all set to make an on-line purchase but sanity returned and I resisted. All the recommendations in the world do not help my taste match that of others. IT DOES, however, let me see the reputable vendors as they deal with customers. When / if I make my first big hardware purchase on-line at least I have a chance of getting great service.

Until ............ whenever. My local shop is my friend. But ........... it could happen. I might become 'overwhelmed' and start looking!

I received my Kanger Protank II today, along with quite a few packages of 2.2ohm coil units. I've been using the first Protank for quite a while, and it really showed today. The intimidation factor came back while I was looking over the unit.

I've been using it for about 10 minutes and aside from the first few "yeah I'm still wicking here so bear with me, tirebreath!"* hits, it has been rather pleasant so far. I ordered the airflow controller with it, so I'm messing around with that as well. I found turning the airholes open almost all the way is working well so far.

The one thing I actually did like about the Protank 1 (over its successor) is the mouthpiece isn't adjustable, cause I actually liked it and didn't really need it any other way. So I'm re-adapting that part too. Last time I had those was with the Vivi Novas. :vapor:

*Additional note: Turns out I'm a complete idiot and forgot to remove one of the additional wicks... >.>

As far as an ADV goes I'm still not sure what I'm looking for. At the local vape stores I was able to test a ton of flavors and all the tobaccos tasted artificial to me. At first I was put off by fruit flavors but took a liking to breakfast, coffee, and some sweeter flavors. I read that vapor chef does those well.

I always tell people that I learned to cook because I like to EAT -- and that's not totally a joke; when I would show up in the kitchen round 6pm asking mom the usual 'what's for dinner, and WHEN! is dinner?' she just told me if I wanted to eat sooner, I could damn well HELP! So I learned the prep-cook stuff probably from the time I was in double-digits. My mom and grandmother were both at one time really excellent *southern* cooks, which means lots of butter, along with all the other good seasoning, and of course lots of butter means OBESITY! So I had to learn a whole new way of cooking yummy stuff that wouldn't first make you fat, then kill you. :) When you have a husband with HBP, and also a son you want to teach to eat correctly so he doesn't get fat later in life, learning to cook stuff that's both really yummy and really good for you is about the only thing you can do -- I'm so tired of people equating "good for you" with "tastes like crap" -- it does NOT, if you know what you're doing!! :thumb:

The only tobacco I've tasted that might taste alright to a former Camel smoker is the Halo Turkish; at first I thought it was ok because it was not sweet at all, but it's too heavy for me; it made me feel like I'd been smoking a really potent pipe, then it made me nauseated, so I haven't touched it since the first night. I guess I might save it for my son, who's out of state, and though presently a non-smoker, he used to smoke Camels, and anytime he's around me he gets this yearning look on his face, like he'd really love a smoke but isn't sure he wants to, but wants to anyway... you know what I mean. I figure when he gets back home, if he seems inclined to take up smoking again, I'll introduce him to vaping, and I bet by then that Turkish will have "steeped" into something he'd find really yummy, loving Camels as he did.

If you wanted to try a lighter, more subtle tobacco flavor (I detect a very, very faint note of cinnamon, I'm pretty sure -- my taste buds may be shot, but my nose definitely is NOT), I highly recommend the "Virginia", from myfreedomsmokes.com, and their prices are very reasonable too, just $4.99 for a 10mL; it's absolutely the best tobacco I've found, the closest to my VA Slims, so for me I guess this is *my* "ADV". I have no clue if it's made from real tobacco, "naturally extracted tobacco," or any of that, but I suspect not, since a) it's so inexpensive, and b) it doesn't have that smoky, dirty taste that so many of the "real" tobacco e-liquids seem to have, which taste ok to me at first, but wind up just making me ill, they're so smelly. They really do call it stinkweed for a reason! ;) The 6mg I'm using has a much better throat-hit than my actual ultra-light cigarettes; probably more like the "Light" version; so I'm sure that higher-nic levels would make an even stronger TH, more like the "Regular" version.

There are in between items that can make your 'simple' vaping life easier. Like dumping the T3S for the mini protank versions in glass. Better flavor, same coils, easier to reuse and clean. You can always creep your way up.

But you sound like your fence sitting anyway. It won't be long now before you join the dark side...

I wouldn't say I am overwhelmed. Overly excited....yeah. I only wish I had found this forum prior to going out and buying my "starter" kit and taking my brothers word for it haha. I likely would have saved a good chunk of money if I had done the research prior to jumping headfirst into Vaping. All and all I am very happy with where I am at knowledge and equipment wise at this point. That being said...I "need" more equipment :D.

Overwhelmed is what I feel too, but excited at the same time. I've only been vaping for about six weeks, and I'm loving it. I started with a Blu starter kit, but was soon disillusioned with the not-so-great flavor of their menthol, the lack of a decent throat hit, the weak nicotine levels (their strongest is about 14mg) and the short battery life. I do like their charger pack, even though it's a bit bulky.

Within a week I placed an order for a Halo G6 starter kit, and it was like night and day. The day I received it was the last day I smoked an analog. Since then, I've bought a Halo drip tip and a G6 mini-tank. Didn't use the mini-tank long, though, after it seemed like it had leaked some juice into my mouth a couple of times; and after alternating use of the drip tip for a couple of weeks, I actually prefer using the cartos without the drip tip.

So, will I make the move from amateur to advanced vaper? I don't know yet. I am a hardcore gadget junkie - I even build gaming computers for a living, but the Halo setup is really not leaving me wanting for anything more at the moment. I've even found a Halo juice mix that is so good that I can't imagine ever topping it (1:9 SubZero & Menthol ICE). The most advanced equipment I've bought so far are a couple of graduated slip-tip syringes for mixing. :p

I see myself eventually trying out some of the DIY mods that people talk about here. It's a lot of info to take in, and most of it's like Mandarin to me so far. But I learn fast, and I'd never bet against my tech addiction taking over my vaping career some day. And thank goodness for ECF!

I am pretty new at this and I purchased all my equipment before I found this forum. I have 2 KGO v2 1100 batteries and 2 KGO v3 1300 batteries. I use either Smok Tech or Kanger Evod bottom coil Clearomizers (I think that is what they are called). Any way...I had a real problem tossing coils that I originally paid $1.00 to $1.59 each for. How do you go about cleaning them and changing out the tiny little wick? What are you referring to when you say you can rebuild the coils?
