hello,
My name is Nikolina and i have been smoking since age 14. Recently i have noticed that cigarette smell really bothers me. I really enjoy smoking with my coffee especially and i smoke about half to a pack a day. I have purchased leap device and really like it but still have strong cravings for a cigarette. Help please, any advice on how to transition easy would be appriciated.

depending on what you want from your vape
do you want something that looks like a cigarette
or would you be ok with a pod device
or would you be ok with a mod, cylinder or box shape, small or bigger?
I would suggest looking at something that is made for mtl (mouth to lung) and using a regular nicotine (not nic salt) at about at least 18mg if not 24mg, this will still give you that throat hit feeling whereas nic salts tend to be a smooth vape....and also stay around 50/50 pg/vg to start with
typically higher pg will give a harsher vape
typically higher vg will give more plume
if the juice tastes peppery this usually means that the nic level is too high and you need to go to a lower level

It's not always an easy transition. Some folks transition easier than others. What definitely helps is a strong determination to quit smoking.

Some people dual use (smoking and vaping) for a period of time before finally stopping smoking. My total transition period lasted a week. Some make the transition immediately. Others dual use for months.

I think you have to get to the point where smoking no longer tastes good to you. So try to limit the number of cigarettes you smoke each day if you decide to dual use. Eventually the cigarettes will begin to taste bad to you.

I had a friend who put the contents of her ashtray into an empty baby food jar with a bit of water. She carried that jar everywhere. Whenever she got a craving for a cigarette, she took a wiff from that jar and instantly didn't want to smoke because it was so repulsive.

I vaped as frequently and as much as I felt that I needed to. If I still got a craving for a smoke, I vaped more. If I still got a bad craving I allowed myself half of a cigarette, and saved the rest for the next really bad craving. Those partially smoked cigarettes tasted really bad, but I think that helped me to quit.

If you choose to dual use, stop buying your favorite brand of cigarettes. If you smoke a menthol, buy a non-menthol brand. If you smoke a non-menthol, buy a menthol brand.

Don't get entirely mad at yourself if you do break down and have a smoke. It's not how many cigarettes you smoke that's important...its how many you DON'T smoke that is important.

You're not going to find a vape flavor that tastes like a cigarette. E-liquid flavor concentrates, for the most part, are from the food and baking industry. Can you name ANY food that tastes like burning dried tobacco leaves and smoke? I didn't think so. Find a candy, fruit, bakery, or coffee flavor that you like, and just forget about trying to find a tobacco flavor to vape.

The leap device is a pod I believe and from what I know they are pretty high nic. Are you using the pods or the disposables? And what do you feel you are missing? When you vape one with your coffee do you want a cigarette after that? Do you feel the whole experience is not satisfying as far as not enough vapor or something? If you give a little more info maybe I, and others, can try to provide some suggestions.

It might take time for you to switch completely, but you will be glad you did. I know I am. My mother dual uses at the moment. However, she has already cut down on the number of cigarettes she smokes so it is already helping her. It will take time for you to find a vape that really works for you. The number of different mod types, tank types, e-liquid flavors and VG/PG concentrations, and combinations thereof will make it take some time to find what really satisfys you, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Thank you guys for suggestions, when i vape i dont need a cigarette right after. I think its just a habit that i need to figure out how to break. I have cut down on cigarettes a lot, every time i have one it tastes and smells nasty so i usually put it out after two puffs. I use pods and really love it since all the other ones ive tried make me cough so much it hurts. Leap is the only one that feels smooth and doesnt cause me to cough out a lung after the first draw.

OK -- so you are happy with the Leap just struggling a bit with totally getting off of the regular cigs. You have a lot going for you. You like the Leap, you have cut down, and regular cigs are not that attractive so you are going in the right direction for sure.

We are all different so you have to find a strategy that works for you and it might take a little bit of experimentation. I was a heavy smoker (in the 2 packs a day range) and I stopped from Day 1 of vaping. That's what worked for me. I would not have been good dual using - vaping and smoking. I know myself and it would have been all too easy to just reach for a cig

I was used to almost always having a cigarette in my hand and I just sort of trained myself to pick up the vape and not a cig. I made sure when I made the switch that I had enough supplies so that I did not have an excuse to go out and get a cig. But again, we are all different and many people have dual used and then stopped smoking.

I do have a little experience with what they call "tapering". I was injured and was on medication and it would have shocked my system to just stop so I did it gradually and had no major problems. That's what I would recommend.

Maybe try to set a limit. Let's say you are now smoking 10 cigs a day, set your goal for 9 and just keep picking up the vape when you get the urge. Do that for a week, then go to 8 and so on until you are done. If you have a picture in your mind that you will be done in 10 weeks, for example, maybe that will help.

Some people will always crave cigs. I did not crave them but I will admit that it was not all roses when I first started vaping. I used different, inferior equipment and I was just was not 100% satisfied. My overwhelming desire to quit was what motivated me.

The most important thing I think is to make sure you never run out of pods or batteries -- do not know if you have an extra Leap battery? -- if you do not I'd recommend thinking about getting an extra. This way if your battery dies you have another and have no excuse to reach for a cig while waiting for it to charge.

You seem to have made a lot of progress already so keep it up!

    Welcome and glad you joined.
Could stick with the Leap, if it's working for you, it's worth giving it a chance.

    Hi and welcome!

I’m not familiar with your device, but if you like it, great!

When I switched, I was told to get 24mg/ml juice, and just vape away, and when I got cravings, to take a few puffs and wait 20 minutes or so to see if it passed.

Often, it did. The few times that did not stop the cravings, I have in and had a cigarette. But my first day, I went from 30 ish smokes a day to 4-5. And I knew it could work, so I kept at it.

You may need more nic or just more time. For me, I was off the smokes entirely in a couple weeks, but others I know took longer. But every cigarette you don’t have is a win.

Welcome, just stick around and keep trying different things. What worked for me is WTA (whole tobacco alkaloids) in my vape gave me some of the OTHER chemicals in a cigarette without the harm of smoking them.

Aroma is the gold standard (and costs its pound of flesh, but it really is the best.)
Ohm's vapes or Umbavapes also sell it. I used to buy it wholesale and put a small squirt in each tank.

I really do need a bit of the alkaloids for vaping, my brain seems to vastly prefer them. I do use less, but during the quitting process, they were pretty dang useful for me.

That plus the actual, real threat of COPD. That was tremendously motivating, had no desire to drown in my own fluids, slowly over a decade.

My husband still smokes, and cigarettes are everywhere. I just need to keep reminding myself I do NOT have to smoke them.
