next step after a vamo?

Vamos build quality isn't what I thought it was....I got one in December but I've been reading people having problematic 510 connectors, firing pins and springs.

Mine has exhibited no problems aside from the gun metal finish wearing off in 5 weeks (jwrapped it with black carbon fiber).

Its built like junk but it works ok, another PWM device.

I would NOT buy another. Its also too big for its amount of sheer power.

I don't own a mech, but I've been reading about them, starting to get an itch to get one. The big thing that makes them "great" as far as function is that you can pretty much have any range of output you want. I've read of some people pushing up to 25w on mechs with RBAs. Coming from a VAMO that sounds insane to me, but you can produce completely insane clouds of vapor like that.

As far as "opposite of the VV/VW to control", that's what a "Kick" is for. It's a small device that sits on top of a battery that basically turns it into a VW (set it once and forget it kinda thing).

I think the other appeal of mechanical mods is that some of them really are beautifully crafted, and there's the ease at which the user can repair them, and generally how robust they are. Most will argue that they should have no wires, and definitely no PCBs, some even remove springs. Generally the only moving part is the switch. This level of low-tech makes them very easy to maintain.

Segelei #8

Built like a brick sheethouse.....quit using my K100 and Chinese GG...the Segelei #8 is like a cadillac, quality cheap mech

OK. In that case, TEN Vamos! :)

For under $30, Vamos do the job, have 1 and consider it a step up from a spinner. But it's not my go-to nor favorite PV, a mech is. Thought long and hard about a Provari, think I'll pass, rather spend the same money on a quality mech mod that's a work of machining art and a pleasure to hold & use.

The Vamo is the best deal out there IMO It has all of the same function of a Provari and more. Very sturdy and dependable. There really is no PV out there with better capability than the Vamo that I am aware of. It has a 5 amp limit where the Provari has a 3amp limit. So, you either get a Vamo for $27.00 shipped from fasttech or, pay $150 for a Provari is the only real question that I see.

These are my opinions only and I am sure that others will have many differing opinions.

Good luck to you!

Didn't read through the entire thread, but this man speaks the truth. TBH the only thing i could ask more than the Vamo is more features, like what the Evic does. If the Evic had the power of the Vamo (as well as the ability to double stack) and a fire button that felt as good as the one on the vamo, it'd be perfect IMO. But having an Evic and a Vamo is a very nice little pairing. So if you're just starting out, i'd definitely go for the vamo, its not something you will ever regret, no matter how advanced you get. & I'd reccommend starting to look at an Evic past that, but considering the VAMO is already a big jump from where you're at and it's a fantastic mod from any viewpoint, that's a great one to pick up. If i could do it all over again the Vamo would've been my first mod. Would've started with a spinner, then gone to a Vamo, then Evic.
Oh, and some Protanks to go with all of the above ;)
Just my .02

Not much mention of the weight. The vamo is a nightstick (heavy). Great mod for the price and a choice of many.

I like the lighter weight and styling of the Evic and I believe there are some deals out there for it. As it can be charged via USB, you could put off buying a charger for now. Plus, it is especially nice if you want your mod to also be a watch. Kidding of course, but it does have a clock feature.

Any step up will be a big change in weight.

There are many similar almost "clones" from China these days with various features and fan clubs or hate clubs and a new version every other week.......and all are pretty decent. Pick the form factor you think you'd like.

But, only the Provari (US made) has a rock solid and long term reputation for being a very fine and very reliable VV mod and I might add, at similar prices to many New Hot Shiny Steel Tubes with Super Unobtanium plated connections.

And, most likely, you will need to get a recommended charger and some good batteries, for whatever your next step up is. I strongly suggest putting your budget into that before going high end on any mods. Don't let price be the deciding factor on these items.

Enjoy your purchase and keep studying and shopping and saving.

And, welcome to the land of vaping! :)

I just ended up buying a V2 ZMAX, it is amazing. I love this device because of what it can do and all of the features. I would personally recommend one of these for the fact that mine is performing amazingly. Also it takes the 18650 which lasts what seems like forever. It is also a relatively small device which is good and much smaller than the Vamo in 18650 mode. Hope you find something you like.

Red bird said it best. There are many posts about the build quality of the Vamo. I almost bought one until I read other members problems with them. It doesn't make sense to me to buy a Vamo, only to be looking for a new mod a few months later because it stopped working.

Now, if you want a mod that has a low problematic rate and is completely away from the norm in the looks department, then this is what I would recommend:

- The Tesla - Jet Black | Variable Voltage | MODS | iVAPE

After reading countless threads about all of the mods mentioned, this is what I decided to order. From what I've read it's build quality and reliability are really good. Good luck. :)

I have had a Vamo since March, not a single issue whatsoever. The majority of the problems i see with any mod, not particular to Vamo's, evic's etc etc. is user error. Overtightening delivery devices, dropping etc etc. For the price there is no better vv/vw mod imo. Yes there are others with more features gimmicks etc etc. I also have an svd which i use more then my Vamo now. Only reason is i run the Vamo in 350 mode and run a 500 battery in the svd. Its easier to swap battery styles with the svd then the vamo due to the telescoping tubes.

Ok so istarted vaping 8 days ago and i now own a eroll and ego c twist with protank and i am allready looking at a vamo but i thougt if i skip the vamo and get some thing better right away ill save some money :) so what is better then the vamo?

I have the evic and really like it. Most will point the provari and while I'm sure it is all that is said why not go for a vv vapor 4 life auto? Mine is great and gives you a more pocket friendly vape option, just mixes it up for me if I don't want the huge device in my pocket

Seems like the next step is a mech/hybrid for customization and rebuildability. Especially if you are looking to get into low resistance stuff. But I think that is also why you see many on here have multiple devices for different purposes like box mods for battery life/portability, vv/vw for solid at home vaping on multi tanks, mechs for tinkering and low-res...etc.

When I need to go out I just grab one of my 650mah twist with a evod. They really vape as good as my vamo. I also waiting an evic on my vapemail. I think I will put a tatroe base on the evic and will my desktop partner. One flavor on my vamo and one flavor on my evic. I'm also looking into a elegant mech for those gala night.

I would say go Provari. It's more expensive that most VV mods but it's better built. The eVic is a good starter VV mod but the build quality is just not as great as some of the other ones. The 510 head pops off in high temperatures or from falls/drops and you can ruin the threads just by screwing in an atomizer and leaving it there for a while. Provari will last you forever and a day and the price is well worth it from ProVape.

The 510 threading poping out is a fixed issue. The newest version are now with the top threading sectionn secure with 2 screw to the head unit
