im still a bit confused on the battery stuff

Is there a post somewhere that explains everything in detail?

I havn't seen a centralized post on battery compatability ect. However we know a couple things
1 It is designed to fit into tube mods that fit 18mm batterys
2 Evolv recommends only using IMR batterys with it. (This is due to the higher amp drain)

There have been testers that have used as small as 18350 batterys in an 18500 mod with it.

Can we get this thing released yet?? It's been over 3 months since announcement! I think it's been through 3 round of Beta testing. For God's sake, people aren't expected to sit and drool forever, are we? I think a customer base has been established over almost 250 posts, here.

I've used several VV mods that helped me "dial-in" my sweet spot. I recently bought an awesome mechanical mod (Vmod XL). I reeeallly like it, except I need more Watts than it can provide. I'm happy when the batteries are fresh off the charger, but that soon diminishes and I'm stuck with, "Meh, it's good enough."

The Kick will give me what I need to finalized a happy vaping experience. Sorry if I seem a little perturbed, but I am. I've been watching and patient, but my patience has run out. C'mon already!!

But you'd probably be even more perturbed if Evolv hadn't bothered to do extensive testing and then rushed out a flawed product! When the Kick comes out, it is safe to say it is going be very reliable and deliver on it's promise. Evolv should be commended for their commitment to producing a quality product.

I agree with you on this! Evolv did many such test with the darwin and still had issues. They give by far the best customer service and that service is a major cost that no one seems to talk about. Everything they do is for a reason and I for one understand and commend them for doing it the right way to make it the best they can for the "CUSTOMER":toast:

Heh, try to be thankful that it WILL be released. I've followed products for about a year and then watched as the project failed without a commercial launch.

Yes, I've been there... It's tough watching as a project you're excited about flounders and disappears. Usually happens to the more adventurous and exciting products, too :(

I understand. It's just that patience is a virtue. I am not virtuous in that respect lol. I will be thankful when it is released. I just wish it was yesterday or last week haha. I'm goin through heat withdrawals at times. I need MORE POWAH!!

I'd gladly Beta one if bestowed the honor. Pleez? Pleez? :)

I don't see how that is any more simple than my suggestion. I assume some soldering will be involved and you made no mention of how you would attach the wire to The Kick. I doubt you'd want to solder that. There are no wires inside my Grand and I like it that way. There are plenty of dings on the outside, so a little spot of bare metal on the inside won't phase me.

I hear you. Evolv made the Darwin, I have complete faith that The Kick will be on the market and will preform amazingly. Evolv wouldn't put a product out unless it meets and beats performance expectations!

I'm not an owner of any Reo's BUT I do admire the beauty of it's mechanical design.....I just don't understand why someone would want to do this with their Reo....LOL. Seems to me kind of "counter culture" to what any Reo owner would ever consider doing......maybe I should own a Reo.....

Well It would be nice to have a good solid bottom feeder with VW. Volts drop down with the 18650 with a 1.5 ohm atty or any atty for that matter. I change my 18650 out about 3 times a day when the voltage gets to 3.8 or 3.9, not under load. I want a consistent vape during the full use of the battery. THe Kick will also just pop out when you want to give the Reo Grand a bath which I do from time to time. I think the kick will also give me longer vape time between battery changes.

I appreciate the explanation and can respect that......some di-hards I can see taking your membership card though but I ain't gonna tell.... Looking forward to see if it works out for ya.:)

LOL...they are a good bunch and certainly loyal. There are several of us waiting for the Kick. Rob is also starting production of a VV Woody and then a VV grand using Buzz Pro electronics.

Membership card..hmm..I've been waiting a year for my Reo Secret Decoder Ring!! Still no luck.

At some point I'm gonna pick up a Grande (all black) due mostly to it's versatility BUT I would've already had a Woodvil 18490 if a wood combination that I really liked was ever in stock.....I'm daily browsing reosmods. As for now I can't get one due to recently ordering me a Darwin.....mods.....ya gotta love'em.....:)

The Darwin, you got to love it, at least I do. Reos are nice, I never owned one. I thought about getting one, but they seem a bit pricy IMO. I'm sure they are worth it. I never tried a bottom feeder before. I would think about maybe getting one of those new things that turns any pv into a bottom feeder. They may be expensive though.

Yes, looking very much forward to getting my Darwin. I thought I would never find them in stock until another member gave me the info I needed. I'm with ya on the Reos......I can appreciate just about any mod and the Reos are just simply elegant by design....beautiful actually. Never done a bottom feeder either but with the Reo design something I could just stick in my pocket or jeans or wherever and not worry about damaging it.:)

As far as price I definitely see your point and I do think about the price but in the end I can justify the price in my mind by again it's elegance in design....yea, I like them.....

I do understand someone who wants to collect beautiful mods for their own sake. I also appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship involved in doing some of the all mechanical mods that are out there. There are even a few I'd like to own someday.

What I don't understand is the anti-electronics hype that sometimes comes with it.

In the grand scheme of things, you can duplicate an electronics system 20 times on the same multi-layered PCB if you need (military does this all the time...so if one fails another one kicks in and takes over) AND produce 8 life-times of user replaceable supply of that entire board for what it cost just to fire up the lathe or a welder to fashion a comparable mechanical part (which often doesn't last any longer than an equivalent electronic part would either).

Oh heck, forget the PCB, they now have programmable 'chips' that you can totally redesign the entire network in a 'flash', and they're quickly becoming affordable. So this rules out the argument of 'what if they quit making that board someday'. As long as the design exists, someone can 'flash' you a new part on a generic chip.

Why is it no big deal to buy already obsolete battery designs at least once a year at $10 to $20 each, plus a fancy charger....but a tiny 18 cent switch, wheel, chip, or PCB every 10 to 20 years is inconceivable?

My Darwin cost me a little under $240 used. As a smoker, I sometimes spent that much on 'mechanical' lighters in a year's time and thought nothing of it ;)
