I fell in love with my Worx weed eater/edger/mini mower. I have a difficult yard in places and I have to mountain climb to weedeat it. This Worx is battery powered and light and perfect for me. I also love the Worx blower. They have been game changers for me.

Has anyone reported their bostons breaking in the freezer? I have had several people suggest they will break in the freezer. Seeing many people here are storing their nic in bostons in the freezer I would not agree with these people. Particularly using the methods outlined thruout this thread.

Just curious.
Never had one break on me, and I have frozen hundreds over the years. Never had anyone first hand telling me it happened to them either.

Y’all put padding around or between the bottles?
As insurance, I put mine in a shoebox tote, that way if one did ever break it would be contained and not contaminate anything.

I use bubble wrap that came with the Boston round bottles I bought years ago. And I also have bubble wrap from my vape purchases. My first nic storage in 2014 I used a plastic bin with a lid. This latest round of stocking I used the box the bottles were shipped in since it had thin cardboard separators. It’s a hefty box so I feel safe. One day I may transfer to another plastic bin.

So I have a plastic bin and a cardboard box in my freezer taking up about a third of my freezer space. :?: I made it all fit though.

I have a label maker too so I put labels on each bottle. Date, nic strength, vendor.
I recommend putting a "poison" statement on your labels, in the event that someone else is emptying your freezer, they might not have a clue about nic.

I need to do that, although my son and family has had strict instructions. I’ll put it on the outside of my boxes.

Makes sense, particularly since your stock is somewhat stronger than what most people have. ;)

Some of mine (all 120s) is in bubble warp, and some is in plastic Plano "field boxes". At one point, I found a silly good deal on these and bought a fair number of them. Each one holds nine 120s.

Haven't seen an answer from one more experienced with this, but I don't think it's possible...at least breakage from actually freezing it. IIRC, it takes something like 60F below to freeze it. And it's not water, which expands when freezing- it actually contracts. So you'd want a small amount of head space to allow for the expansion back to room temp. But I don't think it's possible to break the glass simply by reducing temp to approx 0F.

Yep, I don't see how that would be possible either.

Nic base definitely shrinks with decreasing temperatures. You can see that from the level in the bottles in some of my early pics in this thread. So if you had no head-space at all, the shrinkage would cause a hard vacuum in the bottle, meaning a 14.7 psi pressure difference to ambient air (at sea level, less if you're up in the mountains somewhere). A decent glass bottle of 500 ml or less in size should have no problem with that.

The potential problem with zero headspace comes when you "thaw" it. If the room you're thawing in is warmer than the room you bottled it, the nic will expand a bit, and pressure rise from expansion has no limit if there's no headspace.

Bottom line: Leave just a bit of headspace when you fill your bottles. It will dramatically reduce the pressure changes. I like to fill bottles to the base of the neck.

I don't get why everyone is saying "and by then I will be really old, so I can just quit."

WHA?

When I am really old and watching "Wheel of Fortune" in the nursing home and having ah, assignations with the gentlemen wo want to "get to know me better" (BUT they will have to SHOW me proof of their STD status, it is the responsible thing to do! Like I want syphilis at the age of 95?)

BUT, my point is, I'm not going to be sitting there tranquil and KNITTING. I might want to vape even MORE in a nursing home in fact I cam pretty much guarantee it. Possibly MORE than know. IDK.

I sort of want to go out with a vape in my hand. Does that make me weird?
