I think, given the expansiveness of nic bottles, I may have to buy the husband a second chest freezer for Christmas. He has made noises about needing a "bigger one" when we move from rural town to "rural die in the back of the paramedic van 15 minutes away from rural town" when that happens.
Anna

Isn't getting him a chest freezer kind of like husband getting wife a new bass boat?

So happy to be continually motivated to put my nic in glass. LOL.

Rossum it's not the mixing that is the issue, it's like the "space" issue. There is not going to be enough. You can only go to Costco in Tucson so many times year from here.

I don't know if I would even EAT a deer from the Desert, they are riddled with pests and stuff. I saw one driving to Tucson the other day from Tombstone and was actually shocked to see it.

All I know is my kid really liked guns as a kid. He excitedly asked me if he could "go shoot a rabbit" and I was like, "Yay this should be a nice peaceful afternoon...." So I gave him the cellphone and said have at it.

15 minutes later, her returned with a rabbit by the EARS which he had shot through the EYE. I was impressed.

Also extremely flustered. I was like, "Um... is this even a safe season for Rabbit? What do I do with it? How do I gut it?

Thank goodness for the internet that was a "yes" I have regretted for a LONG time. It wasn't BAD exactly nor was it good. After that, I sort of evaluated my son's skills a bit differently when he said he was gonna "shoot" something but like, I think that satisfied the boy's blood lust for a while. Certainly mine.

I informed the husband of his gift. He wasn't happy exactly but he was in the middle of fixing the kitchen and sent me pics. It doesn't look like the same ABODE, man.

Hoping for a housing miracle, honestly.

Anna

Anyone remember RTS they were bought out by Nicotine Giant.
My recollection is they changed their name after getting busted for a "Sales to Minors" violation by the FDA.

[time passes]

Yep. Found it.

Nice work on the nic tests Rossum. Reassuring that our freezer-stored nic is where it should be.

I have to agree with Bronze, thanks for all of the information. But for your efforts, I would have been unprepared for May.

Hey to all my fellow freezer friends, I have a question. I have a liter of 50/50 in my freezer and need some of it. Can I take it out and pour it immediately into another bottle after a vigorous shake of course? I ask because the vigorous shake won’t do much because it’s filled to the rim and thought the thicker VG may lag as I pour causing me to take more nicotine and PG into my bottle. This may be a ridiculous question I just wanted to ask because my knowledge of fluid dynamics is all based on what I observed as a child playing in my bath and I know the jets in a pool and jacuzzi are nice. Oh and I’ve observed and experienced rip tides while at the beach at Lake Michigan which is the only useable information I’ve gained. Seriously though will it pour out even or do I need to bring it up closer to room temperature before I make my transfer?

I shake mine before decanting and don't worry about it when removing from freezer. Will only shake my working bottle if its been sitting in the fridge for several months.
Thank you, I just wanted to make sure the low temperatures wouldn’t cause any separation. I usually just pull the whole bottle but a liter can last me around a year so I’m gonna pull 500ml to reduce oxidation.

Most of us use two bottle sizes. Liters or Quarts for long term storage then when we tap into a new bottle we make up 8 or 9 smaller bottles (4 oz). All but one goes back in the freezer and we keep one working bottle in the fridge.

I don't know about your 50/50, which is presumably 100 mg, and nicotine itself is very low viscosity even at low temps, which helps. However I can tell you that the 35PG/65VG/13mg vaping-strength base that I make big batches of isn't really pourable straight from the freezer, and trying to mix it by shaking it would be an exercise in futility.

If it were me, I would let it come to room temperature overnight before opening the bottle. This also obviates any worry about condensation forming on the inside of the bottle.

I have a probably stupid Question.

I have a Bottle of 1 Liter 50/50 100mg here, which was standing at roomtemperature in the deepest corner of a closet (hope thats the right word^^). Today i took a bit out and realized it started to turn brown a bit. Since now there are abround 200ml "air" in the bottle, can i still put it in the freezer since cold air tends to contract, or would i risk that the bottle "implodes"??

Before someone asks, no i don't have other bottles here to rebottle it :(

If you can't get any bottles, you should at least put it in smaller glass mason jars.

There is someone on another thread that has been using Mason jars with the BPA-free metal lids since 2013. Claims no problem. Another person been doing this for 2 or 3 years, but with the plastic lids. Also claims no problems .

You should be able to find mason jars in your local town in Germany.

Generally i can get Bottles, just not today. Shopping in Germany and Sundays don't go well together :grr:

So i should better leave it out of the Freezer until i can get glasbottles
I say put it back into the freezer. Cold temperatures slow down the molecules in your base so while less air would be preferable, storing in the freezer would still help slow oxidation better then room temperature. I just pulled 500ml out of my liter and just put it back in. So eventually I’ll know the answer to this but for now all I can do is take an educated guess.

Come on Anna, your nic is in glass bottles. It isn't going to "mix" with venison. Besides, if you take your deer to the butcher shop for processing, it you get it back all neatly vacuum packed, like this:

We find this tremendously increases the spousal acceptance factor. :D

Of course you can DIY this with a "food saver" type vacuum-sealing setup yourself.

That movie annoys me to no end. There are no little fawns in the forest by the time hunting season opens. Deer breed in the fall and give birth in the spring. By the following late fall and early winter (hunting season) they are close to full-grown.

Shooting one is the easy part. Sometimes they drop quickly, sometimes they run quite a ways, which demands that you track them. This might be easier where you are than where we are. Here we've got thick woods with plenty of undergrowth. It's when you get the deer that the difficult part starts. Step 1 is to field-dress it. That means removing all the entrails. The sooner this is done, the better. Step 2 is to haul it someplace you can hang it to skin it (butchers generally want a skinned carcass, without a head, and without hooves). Some people can't handle these steps.

My son got a very nice buck just shy two weeks ago. Do not click this link if you don't wish to see a dead deer hanging in a tree, waiting to be skinned.
Super nice buck! We’ve eaten venison for years, my girls unknowingly as kids (cause....Bambi). It has more protein and vitamins than red meat, and lower fat than boneless, skinless chicken. Arrives from the processor looking like a grocery delivery.
