I do not know a single person that is responsible all the time... I am safety minded and concerned for children as they are our future, but that does not mean I can take care of all children all the time. I make sure that my child and my unborn child are safe when they are near me, because I know I can't when they aren't near me.

You need to come over to dallas and hang out some time.

alan, keep in mind.... some of the sarcasm you're receiving is because this issue has been beaten to a bloody pulp. The horse hasn't just been beaten, it's been resurrected, hung out for 3 days, and beaten again.

We are all aware the dangers of nicotine and children. Particularly the DIY folks I'm sure are very very well aware because we have to use liquid nicotine hands on. Even those of us who do not DIY tend to be well understood on this concept.

As for the childproof caps... I'm more likely to take my business to a vendor who does not use childproof caps. I hate those damn things. I don't have kids I prefer not to use them. If I'm about to pay 15$ for 30ml of juice I'd like it with easy screw on/screw off caps.

I know almost everyone here is going to yell about this post and I wil probably get banned but here goes.

Nic is honestly and truly a poison just like lots of drugs we like to use. I am a 40 year smoker and have just changed over to vaping in the past 3 months. The health benifits are great and I wouldn't go back to analoges for anything.

So I am a new vaper.. But I am not a new human, I have spent 62 year on this planet, 40+ of them with a Phd Eng. One of my youngest adult daughters is a biochemist Bsc, my oldest is a postgrad.

Please consider this :

The lethal dose for a non-smoking adult is .5 to 1mg per Kg of body wieght. ( look it up )
The lethal dose for a child is 0.11 ml per Kg.
24mg e-liquid contains 24mg of nic per ml ( not 2.4 or .24mg per ml )

So one 10ml bottle of 24mg e-liquid contains 24 x 10 or 240mg of nic
240 mg X 2.2 lbs per Kg = 528 lbs of adult non-smoking human at 100% absorbtion.
( 240 mg X 2.2 lbs) X 10 = 5280 lbs of child.

Argue about no studies, absorbtion rates, civil rights, second hand vape or anything you like.

One 3ml bottle of nic juice will put a child in the hospital if your lucky or in the cemetary if your not.

We love our candy apple, cotton candy, butter scotch and other sweet wonderful smelling e-juices. I use them and love them as well. BUT they are like putting a hand grenade in a doll, children will love them too. The first time a child drinks e-liquid, we will not be talking about a vaping in public bans. Vaping will be outlawed.

Please get e-liquid manufacturers to put real danger lables on thier bottles. Maybe put bottles inside real child proof containers. Maybe bring back the skull and cross bones labels.

Please lock up your nic. Treat it with respect. Think about how we carry it. What happens if we leave it at a freinds house.

Lets look at a solution to this real problem, at least exploding batteries burn the vaper not the inocent.

Alan

Alan - Don't go getting caught with any nic liquid in Canada. I didn't see where you outright say that you had any, but, as you are well aware I am sure, Canada does not look kindly on those who are in possession of nic liquid. Just sayin' ;)

The subject has been beaten to death, of that I am certain. Still I see some of our leading reviewers with shelves of it hanging around. I have not seen one with a node to safety, even a written blurb, I see a lot of " I am not influenced " bla,bla . There are people new to e-cigs every day and youtube is a great way to get info and reviews, but appearantly no public service blerbs.

I understand that forums are filled with vets but if we can put don't blame us for explodeing mods disclaimers up maybe we could put keep it safe blurbs up as well...

This is also the newbe area and not all of the readers will be vets.

So who in their right mind would do such an idiotic thing as give anything bad to a child? Why not type Please have someone watch behind while you back up your car so you don't run over a child? I'll bet there's more children getting run over than poisoned by nicotine liquid.
I can't believe what some people do for attention.

That's interesting for those people who are injecting nicotine directly into their blood stream. Now look up the lethal dose of nicotine if swallowed.

how many square feet of wood flooring would have to be replaced if you dropped and broke that 1000ml bottle on your kitchen floor?

zoro feet of flooring would need to be replaced.

No one ever said that they are "illegal" per se, but look at the links below. Health Canada does not look favorably upon nicotine liquid and views it as a drug.

http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/01/02/jesse-kline-e-smoke-em-if-you-got-em/

"In 2009, Health Canada issued a warning on its website, saying that e-cigarettes fall under the Food and Drugs Act and must therefore be approved by the government for sale in Canada. But, so far, “no electronic smoking products have been granted a market authorization in Canada.”

In practical terms, Health Canada cannot stop the sale of the e-cigarettes or liquids that do not contain nicotine. So Canadians have no trouble buying the equipment, which is generally sold over the Internet. A number of studies have shown that the illusion of smoking created by the device helps to satisfy cravings, but without nicotine, it cannot help smokers get over the physiological dependence that is created by the drug.

A number of Canadian vendors have continued to sell nicotine-containing liquids, in defiance of Health Canada’s edict. But some of the more popular companies have had to shut down, after being threatened by Health Canada and the RCMP. This forces many Canadians to make purchases from U.S. and other foreign companies, but they risk having their shipments intercepted at the border."

Lets outlaw....

-guns
-most medicines
-knives
-anything flammeable
-cars (you know, they can blow up)
-lighters
-PENCILS. (they can poke an eye out ;) )

Well....you get the picture.

I see your concern. I really do. BUT, you are advising everybody something that is common sense. Anything like the above list can kill someone, just depends on how you said children use it/get to it.
