i have been vaping 10% nic for over a year with a Mini Protank 2, I just got my Reo/RM2 and I was wondering if I should drop my nic levels, I will be aiming for a .9-1.2 ohm build.

I found that the RM2 made it tough to keep using my higher nic. I was at 32mg. I did not want to drop my nic. But the vape was just too strong. I went down to 30mg. A couple months later I landed at 28mg, where I am now.

Most can tell quickly if there is too much nic. My vape became harsh. I was running and still run a .9 to 1.02 coil.

It was easy to dilute the juice in the REO bottle a little to see if it made a difference. When it did I knew to lower the nic.

You'll be mixing your own juice, yes?

Suggestion is to mix up, say, 30-50 ml of 10mg juice and try half a reo bottle of it (3 ml or so) - give yourself a good full day to assess unless you find a profound effect right away.

If it's too much (you will know if it is), then dilute the mix to 8 mg, try a half bottle again, and so on.

Basically, a more efficient delivery system - RDA's, low V drop devices like the Reo, etc. - will allow you to drop the nic level, but there's no universal standard and you'll have to experiment a bit. Most folks do drop, but not everyone does.

Now, if you went to more aggressive builds on toppers like the RM8 or 9, with dual coils netting subohm, you'd prolly need to downsize the nic for sure, but the RM2 is a nice, pleasant, relatively sedate atty in the resistance range you're targeting.

What I would do is drop down to half the nic you were using and see if the throat hit is sufficient. If not, up it a bit next time.

This is, of course, assuming you have nic at home and DIY your juice.

I went from 18 to 12 and even 12 is sometimes too high, but less does not give me the throat hit I require.

Congrats on your REOs, Sir. I am certain you will love them.

When I started using drippers, even before Reos and bottom feed attys, I found that I had to drop my nic in half. Back when I used genisis RBAs, I made my juice at 12 mg/ml. Currently, I use no more than 6 mg/ml; sometimes a bit lower.
The reasons: I vape a lot more, and RDAs are so much more efficient. I've also found that I've had to cut back on flavor percentages, in some of my DIY recipes.

That is the highest Nic% that I have seen in a while, you like it strong! I started at 24mg, and sense January I have slowly been lowering it, now I am at 16mg, I am going to try lowering it again next month, I am not sure if I will go to 14 or straight to 12mg. I would not have lowered it at all, if it wasn't for regulations.:-x

My lady is at 3mg and I am at 6mg down from 18mg when we first started. If you are like us you will find yourself having the REO in your hand all the time, like Linus & his security blanket! We find we vape a lot more than we smoked. Our REOs are more a pacifier and we are constantly vaping so we had to lower nic level! :vapor:

For me personally I can't get by on just one nic level. I vape both 3 and 6 depending on the time of day, my stress level, the reason I'm vaping st a particular moment. Ie if I'm at work and very busy and can't vape often, I go for 6mg. If I'm relaxing, hanging out, hiking etc I vape 3. With 3 I can vape more, enjoy the flavor more, etc. With 6 I get my nic fix.

Hope that makes sense...thats how I roll :)

Dan, something worth trying that is easy, is just dilute your current Protank mix with PG/VG say by one third, that will dilute the flavor and lower the nic in one go, and give you a good idea of how you are going with flavor and nic. I found that moving from a Protank to RM2 required less flavor and less nic.

You might also find that moving from a 1.8 ohm Protank coil to a 1 ohm coil in a RM2 might be a bit overkill with flavor and vapor production. But maybe you want that. If not, try a 1.8 ohm coil in the RM2 and go from there. A good 1.8ish ohm coil can be made from 8 or 9 turns of 30g kanthal on a 1/16" drill bit.
