I took two passthroughs with me on my last trip, and had nothing but trouble with the auto functions. I came home totally fed up with them, so I went out and got the parts. Used a 2AAA battery box, and a 3amp momentary switch, old 4081 battery connector, and USB wire from my scrap box.

Outstanding! A manual passthrough for about 3 bucks, and 15 minutes of my time!

Thanks Nicowolf. I got enough parts to make a couple of nicosticks too. These 4081 attys are kickin' ....!

Hitting it now, sitting at the computer - I just need to find a 220v USB wallwart that will provide more than 500ma...

1A US Plug Universal USB Travel Wall AC Charger Adapter - eBay (item 300298120453 end time Aug-31-09 05:19:00 PDT)

I am buying one of these 1A output USB chargers for myself since I am not pleased with the 510 passthroughs I have running off either a 500ma wallwarts or a USB hub - it does not work as well as off a regular battery. The output is about 4v so it appears to be regulated so maybe having an entire amp at its disposal will work well but if not, I will have to make the USB mod box to drive it at a full 5v/1A.
