I have had a 510 kit for two and a half months things have been going along fine until the last few days when the batteries started dying on me. The charge is only lasting about 30 minutes on a full charge and I was swapping batteries like crazy all day. I ordered parts for a mod last week but nothing has showed up yet.

In one last act of desperation before buying a pack of analogs I ran down to ratshack and grabbed a switch and a 4 cell AA battery box. I then ran over to another store and grabbed a charger with 4 nuon nimh 2500 mah AA batteries. Got home broke out a soldering iron, demel, hot glue gun and about 45 minutes later I have a functioning 3 cell mod.

I got a bunch of LI batteries on the way but it is nice having this one using off the shelf AA rechargeables, now the real question I have is how long will they last? So far I have a good three hours on them and no sign of letting up yet. I did forget how hard a 510 can hit with good power, I may need to tone my juice down with some VG to take some of the kick out of it.

Still going to build a few single cell mods when my parts get here but boy this box mod really saved my day.

I think you are correct it ran all day with no problem at all still cannot notice a bit of difference over the performance it had this morning when I woke up and put the batteries in it.

In this case, you're using 3 of them to make a 3.6v, 2500mAh battery - what you have there is roughly equivalent to an 18650, but split into 3 cells instead of one.
