Someone was telling me about a southern tradition of dropping peanuts in Coke (everything is Coke down South)... ever heard of that?

I haven't heard about dropping peanuts in coke. I did stop by Midland, tx a few years ago and when I ordered coke in a restaurant, the waitress said, "what kind o' coke? We only got pepsi and 7up."

Ya, I think since George Washington Carver wrote about peanuts, they put them in absolutely everything down there, for better or worse. Would make an interesting NT flavor.

So that's your next flavor? Coke w/peanuts? But yeah...Cocolie is coke. Cold drank is all other sodas. So, you were offered a cold drank or a cocolie in small town Mississippi when I was a kid. It's also pop, not soda pop or soda. Peanuts in coke was very common though I preferred them separately because soggy peanuts just don't cut it with me especially if parched peanuts (which is peanuts in the shell that have been baked in the oven). If you go small town MS South on Nicoticket taste delights I can tell you I will not buy hog brains scrambled eggs.
