Guys, have a question. I bought my first nic not long ago, about 3 weeks. I ordered from Heartland vapes. I ordered a 50/50 100mg. They sent me and all pg. I contacted them and they immediately make it good,by sending the 50/50. I got really good customer service from them. My question is this though. I ordered a liter, I immediately put it in glass and put into my freezer. It has very little odor upon putting it in the fridge. I took a bottle out to mix up some juice. It had probably been put in the freezer about 3 weeks when I did this. I noticed a pretty good odor from the nic now.Oh, I meant to say also I filled those bottle full when I first stored it as to cut down on the amount of O2 in the bottle. Anyway, like I said there was a very prominent odor from the bottle that had been in the freezer for 3 weeks. Since I have nothing to compare this to is this normal. Should I be concerned about using this?
Thanks

Oxidation is always happening to some extent, and it sounds like you did everything right to keep it to a minimum. Did you notice an overt color change, or just an odor change?

If it was just odor...if you agitated the liquid in anyway the second time, warmed it, shook it, etc, I would expect any odor the liquid has to be more potent to you, so that's one thing to consider.

I have had clear nics turn a darker yellow brown after freezer time. I don't think it necessarily means there is something to be concerned about, because as Kurt has taught us it only takes a minute amount of nic oxides to create a color change. I think the main oxide here is cotinine? (Kurt please correct!). And that's generated to the umteenth by your liver anyway ;)

thanks for replying guys, When I got the 50/50 100mg/ml in I immediately put it in glass and put it in the freezer and have not opened it since then so not sure how they compare. The nic that has some odor to it, well I do not think it changed much in color, might be just a tinge darker than it was when I first got it. After I dilute it down to 12mg/ml and add flavoring you can still smell it some, not overpowering though. Like I said this is my first to order so did not have anything to compare it to. It was just pretty much odorless when I got it and in just 3 weeks you can take the cap off the glass bottle from the freezer and you do not have to stick the bottle under your nose to smell it. Just let it sit there a minute and you will detect that odor. Just wanted to make sure there is nothing going on that could be harmful.

Well nic does have an odor, its just a matter of more or less, hence the length of this thread :)

The nics that have more odor seem to take on ...well, more odor and color faster. Perhaps the starting concentration of oxides has something to do with this I dunno.

So assuming what your smelling is the nicotine, there's no reason to suspect anything harmful. Some very pure nics, more purer than the USP standard, still have odor/flavor etc.

Perhaps someone posted this a few pages back, but is there any data on this nic, GC-MS etc?

Here's what a internet chemist has to say about the odor of nicotine: Pure nicotine probably has very little scent at all. It might have a vague, waxy scent, because amines have many wax like properties at neutral to basic pH levels. In acid environments, they behave like salts. Amines do too, and is why lemon is added to fish. It makes the amines soluble in water and once dissolved, they loose most of their odor.

So what are we really smelling ????

I had to run to my cabinet, and take a big whiff of some Nude Nic 100 mg. I can't smell anything ! :D

I was not really concerned about too high nic cause it did not smell when I first received it. Like I said the customer service was excellent when I contacted them about sending me the all pg when I ordered the 50/50. I do not want to give a bad impression of them if not deserved. I started to order nude nic, but I was allured by the price of heartland vapes. 1 litre for 74.99 for 100mg/ml. It might be fine, like I said, this is a first for me. It just has a much stronger odor now than it did when I put it in the freezer. At only 3 weeks old I just did not expect that.

I just ordered 250ml/100mg nic from Wizard Labs. Can anyone here tell me if it comes in a glass bottle? I'd like to be ready to freeze it when it shows up.

I've ordered liquid nic from WizardLabs four times. Each time, the bottles were plastic.

OK for all of us new to DIY - who are these vendors VZ ECX RTS ??? Also has anyone ordered from Ejuice4u - have been looking them over prices are pretty good

VZ - VapingZone
ECX - EcigExpress
RTS - RTSVapes

Ejuice4you is $140 for a liter of 100mg nic. That's about the same price as numerous other vendors discussed on this thread, including VZ and RTS.

HeartlandVapes is the least expensive (at least at regular price, without any significant coupon codes)---$100 for a liter of 100mg nic.

Cyrus Vap has done a great job here. Mature that I am, I had a little trouble keeping all the relationships in my head. I made a table to help me understand them. I added a cost factor to the table. Here's a link that will open the table in another tab or browser window.

For those of us that need visuals, this is GREAT!

It says on the page where you ordered from.

We pack all of our Nicotine solutions with a blanket of Argon gas to help prevent oxidation during shipment.

Wizard Labs Nicotine solutions are shipped in chemically resistant plastic containers for safety and to avoid breakage during shipment. For long term storage we recommend transferring the Nicotine solution into glass containers with airtight lids, and as little airspace in the top of the container as possible. Our Nicotine solutions should be stored in a cool, dark area secured from untrained personnel. When stored properly our Nicotine solution will have a shelf life of 12-18 months.
