I've never had WL nic. I've only had three

VZ Nic - Ordered two 120ml bottles. Cracked one open for use and put one away in the freezer. The one that I cracked open and used up was good stuff. Mellow throat hit and no taste whatsoever, which is a good thing. No smell either.

Opened up the second one months later and it had a weird bitter aftertaste. Tried it with just PG/VG, and tried the PG/VG separately to make sure it was the nic. Contacted them for a replacement and they basically said that there's no way I got a bad batch and they wouldn't replace it. I know you guys like to avoid naming names like this, but I firmly believe sharing our experiences (the good and the bad) is what makes this forum so community like.

Xtreme vaping - Hoosier pointed me in this direction after my mishap with VZ. The nicotine was good quality. It was a bit harsher than I was used to, but I adapted. Towards the end of the bottle I started picking up on a bit of an odor. My friends said it smelled like fish but I just smelled 'earthiness'. I'm pretty sure this was simply because I didn't handle it the right way.

What you should do is take out 30mls or so at a time as 'working nic' and put the rest back in the freezer to slow/stop oxidation. My whole 120ml bottle was just out in room temperature the entire duration of it's use, which leads me to believe it oxidized a bit faster than it should have. In any case, it was quality nicotine with no taste imparted and a very solid throat hit.

Nude nic - This is the one I'm currently using. Its very clean and tasteless and has a mellow, but present, throat hit. So far I'm enjoying it and have nothing negative to say about it other than the fact that some of you throat-hit chasers might not enjoy this one. Don't get me wrong - the throat hit isn't weak. It's default and nice. It's just that some of you want a mega throat hit and it isn't here with this company.

I have had similar problems with customer sevice at Vaping Zone. They basically send you a canned response telling you there is no warranty.... As if that absolves them of fixing the problem with their product.

This is my second order direct from WL, first one was a 500 ml bottle of 100 mg/ml, and up until then I'd been buying 60 mg/ml from High Desert Vapes. After I finished re-bottling I thought I should smell the bottle I have been working out of (60 mg/ml) which I've had since March, no discernible smell at all. Is the smell due to the higher nicotine content, or should I be worried that my latest order is bad?

You should be fine. The aroma should smell sorta like fresh aloe.

Ok... After reading a lot (but not all) of this thread I need to ask a question for those of you in the know. I have purchased 100mg/ml nic base from MFS. I mixed up some juice and the taste was very overpowering. Not rancid but not what I want overpowering my flavoring as it is. I figured it was just a bad batch and contacted MFS and they sent me another bottle (Nice CS). The same taste was present (maybe slighter but still there.) After reading this I figure that its not that abnormal to have this "taste." What I am looking for is a Nic base that has as little smell and taste as possible. Although I don't mind throat hit It looks like it would be a choice between; Nicvape, Nude Nicotine, and lol if there is another I've forgotten. What Nicotine vendor can I purchase from that I could get a Nicotine base that I could mix with that would not (or in the least possible way) interfere with the taste of my mixes. Any help would be appreciated because honestly my wife is getting to the point of blowing my head off with all the purchases that haven't panned out trying to save money Mind you if the Nic is top shelf I don't mind paying top shelf prices because honestly it would still be a lot cheaper than purchasing premade ejuice. Thank for any info you can provide.

Well that's not a good thing there. MFS is supposed to be using the new nicselectTM vaping grade nic. Had high hopes for that.

If you can't get Wizard Labs nic, I'd try XtremeVaping. Only had it once, but my bottle would have totally disappeared in a DIY mix, it was that clear and odorless.

In the time I've been here I've never heard anything bad against Xtreme or Nicvape. Nude Nic is too new for me, but have only heard good things about them.

I honestly don't know... This is my first time diying. I just know that I've never tasted this flavor in any of my premade mixes from vendors. Yes on the pepper but definitely not the other flavor.

What are your flavor percentages? For what flavors? From which flavoring manufacturers? Are your DIY juices single-flavoring mixes or multi-flavor blends? Have you used liquid nics other than MFS with good results, or is this your first foray into DIY?

We can't begin to offer practical assistance without knowing a lot more information and specifics than you've shared so far. Not trying to give you a hard time, just sayin'...

I tried other %'s (higher) today and I think it's the amount of flavoring that I was using. Not enough to overpower the natural favoring of the nic base... I hope so because I've got 250ml of 100mg.

I did read through "most" of the thread I was just looking for more incite on if those nics could solve my problem. I was a little confused after reading so much and apparently some peeps enjoy vaping just the nic itself for the flavor.
I'm sorry if this is confusing but I'm a little confused and its hard to describe the cluster of info that is in my head now lol

None the liquid nics I've used (from about eight different sources) were/are completely "neutral." Make up a DIY mix using only flavoring and PG/VG. Then add liquid nic. The no-nic mix will taste different than the same mix with nic. Not just because of the nicotine "kick"---the flavor itself is different. This may be more the case for someone like myself who has generally made juices at 18-24mg/ml nic strength than it is for my low-nic DIY compatriots who mix at 6-10mg nic, but I think it's true as a general rule. Nicotine alters flavorings. Many of us actually prefer the taste of nic-altered flavorings, but not everyone.

Liquid nics from different sources (and sometimes even different batches from the same source) vary in their relative neutrality. Very few are completely transparent (in flavor terms). My half-liter of MFS 100mg nic in the freezer has never been openee, so I can't offer any personal experience, but the general consensus I've gleaned from the thread is that, historically, MFS and RTS nics have been two of more "pungent" nics.

Your perception of the 1% and 2% mixes of Shade tobacco (FlavourArt?) being altered in taste by the MFS nic is almost certainly correct. Some DIY vapers are very happy using flavoring concentrates and super-concentrates at such low percentages (1-2%). I can't think of any flavoring in my huge stash (about 400 bottles of flavorings) that I mix at less than 4%. I'm not suggesting that you "should" use higher percentages of flavoring, just that experimenting with different percentages is an essential part of DIY.

This is similar to adding seasonings in cooking---salt, pepper, herbs, spices, etc. Add a little, taste, and then add a little more if that seems called for, and taste again. That's by no means a perfect method, since juices will change over time with steeping, but it's part of the learning curve. As we gain experience, we develop a "feel" for how much flavoring to use, in much the same way that a good mechanic knows how much to torque a nut on a bolt without having to consult the technical specs. It's not "instinct"---it's a kind of holistic understanding based on distilled experience.

I needed two years to really get the hang of DIY juice-making. Now I whip up juices as if doing so were second-nature, but I went through a lot of failures along the way. Having some "innate" talent in understanding flavors and flavor combinations helps, but the skills we develop in making our vaping liquids are mostly learned, in my opinion.

I hope this doesn't come off as preachy or condescending. For me, the trick is to make it all fun---even my failures. Though I've had my share of frustration along the way (mostly hardware-related), these days vaping is almost entirely a pleasure.

Try this: Mix a little bit of unflavored juice. Vape it, and taste if that weird note is still there.

This thread has helped me a lot by realizing throat hit depends on which brand of Nic I am using... Purchased some Nic from MFS, and now I vape at 8mg instead of the 12mg from a lesser known vendor that never satisfied me. Thanks Cyrus and everyone else for a great thread.
