Ty, the owner of HeartlandVapes, confirmed for me that HV's 100mg/ml liquid nic is exactly the same as what they've been selling all along. HeartlandVapes liquid nic has the same very slight yellow tint as my WizardLabs Regular nic, but it carries no smell, the potency is correct, and it gives a lovely, crisp bite.

With coupon code 25off100, a one-liter jug is still $74.99 with free shipping, which is the best price I know of for that quantity (a gallon is an even better deal), so I ordered another liter of 50/50 PG/VG. At that price, more good nic in the freezer is worth the investment.

there is a smell to it. and if you go back a page or three you will see where i posted my correspondence with ty. he says that the chemically smell peeps are talking about is not there. but he does say that there is a smell to it. its not strong. the smell is less than what vaping zone is offering atm. it smells like 100mg nic.

i bought a gallon of it and it is more than fine. in all honesty... if you are paying more than what heartland is charging... you are getting ripped off. but i do get that peeps smoke this stuff unflavored and they may have a preference.

Roly, Dvap and all, thanks for posting and hanging as usual, been getting crushed by work lately

Roly to answer your question, this thread was born from my realization that nicotine not only had its own "flavor" but that this flavor, or flavor spectrum, was not only pleasant and enjoyable for me on its own, but ultimately more palatable to me than any flavored juice. I had considered nicotine an neutral bystander from the point of view of the palate previous to this. So for my small part I tried to key into the 'notes' that nicotine juice had to offer, compare and contrast, find what I preferred, and open discussion regarding the same.

Many other great discussions have come from this, sources of nicotine, purity, safety, strength, vendor ethics and unethics, etc.

I agree that a comprehensive statement about a given batch of nicotine should include a verification of the advertised nicotine mg/ml concentration. This is of the utmost importance as 1) less than X mg/ml would constitute...well a rip off 2) greater than X mg/ml would constitute endangering the consumer.

I never did so, perhaps for lack of inclination, or maybe I don't look after my own safety very well...not sure. But I certainly invite better and more inclined individuals to do so. For my part I was concerned with comprehensiveness only in respect to taste/aroma qualities I could key into, which though less important with respect to the safety of the consumer, are far more interesting to me. I never had the intention of becoming the final word on nicotine in a total and integral way.

So by all means friends...

needa,

Maybe my olfactory sensors are diminished. I pick up nothing that I would call a "smell" from either my Wizard Labs Regular or my Heartland nic. As you note, a very slight "scent" is indeed present, so that my brain says, "Ah yes, liquid nic." I realize that people may scratch their heads and wonder what the distinction is between a scent and a smell. I guess the difference for me is that the slight scent registers for me as natural, in much the same way that "pure," unadulterated soap has a characteristic scent. By contrast a smell (or an odor) would signify to me that something is amiss, or that fragrance had been added.

Perhaps WL and HV nics are not 100% neutral in this area, but both easily pass muster for me, and some other liquid nics don't.

OK, so I have read this thread and come to the conclusion that the best places to get good nic. are WL and NN. Would this be correct?

Has anyone tried NN tobacco flavoring?

I bought 2 batches of MFS, they are excellent and smell/taste identical. I understand different batches of nic can have different odors/taste. There has been some buzz about extracted nic from different parts of the tobacco plant can result in different nic base smell/taste.

So reporting back in......ordered my first ever WL nic and received today. I AM EXTREMLY happy with it :)
Have changed to unflavored mainly within the last couple of months. Purchased unflavored from a local B&M a couple of times to try (for the same price as their flavored juices!!!!) It was certainly vapable however after reading this thread (yes, the entire thing) I started noticing the taste more. No particular bad smell and clear but sort of an oily taste, not really sure how to describe it. This WL nic is just clean and crisp and I like the TH so thx to all contributors :)))))

Great description! Most of my Off smelling nic has had a very noticeable chemical smell. Not horrible, but when you're vaping unflavored it becomes very noticeable after a couple weeks.
And hey, if we can buy better, why settle? Often the best is some of the cheapest.

2014 NN 100 mg has the same faint odor as my 1012 MFS 100 mg.
2009 nhaler and 2009 MFS nic had identical smell also.
Per my experience they have a faint characteristic nicotine smell which I don't find offensive.
Mixed to 8 mg my nose can no longer detect an odor using wafitng technique.

Mixed to 8mg I barely detect a sweet taste while vaping NN or MFS today. I can't detect the peppery under tones today. In the past I could detect a sweet peppery taste while vaping 8 mg MFS. Perhaps if I installed a fresh wick I could taste it today. Perhaps that taste comes when a small amount of residual e-liquid on drip tip touched tongue before. I removed cap to wet wick today so drip tip had no liquid on it.

I am getting a slight sweet feel vaping NN and MFS today. So faint it's almost tasteless but it is distinguishable from zero nic which tastes closer to tap water. Just enough taste so you don't feel like your vaping fresh air. I'm not getting that characteristic sweet PG taste today; I do get the PG taste w/ a fresh wick on my best builds. The PG taste disappears after vaping a few ml of unflavored which causes a buildup on the coil.

I'm getting identical TH with 8 mg NN and MFS today. I would not be able to differentiate in a blind taste test.

I give 2014 NN 100 mg, 2009 MFS 60 mg, and 2012 MFS 100 mg a 10 out of 10 based on todays tests. I give MFS a 10 out of 10 based on long term vaping. 2009 nhaler gets a 10 out of 10 but it is long gone. I have only 30 ml of 2009 MFS left in the freezer.

emus - Did you happen to test any of your long-term storage nic for potency level?

I let my buds do the testing. I'm vaping 2012 MFS at 4mg most of the time and am getting a mild to medium TH. 2012 MFS at 8 mg is the strongest I like to vape and I don't vape that strong much. 2012 MFS at 10 mg produces a very strong TH so I rarely vape that high w/ my current builds.

When I used CE2 in 2013, 12mg 2009 and 2012 MFS produced a medium TH. Rebuildable toppers supercharged TH and liquid consumption.

Madvapes started a long term nic deterioration test but apparently got bored after a few months and quit?

It is just funny that after four years of vaping that I now am a flavorless nic hog :)

I still tinker w/ flavors. Every time I'm pining for the flavor to stop. Then I vape unflavored for a month or so. Repeat.

I love the elusive PG flavor. It can be found on a new premium build but leaves after a few short ml.

I used to love nic flavor. But it hides inside 4 mg and 8+ mg is too hot for me to handle now days.

I just popped in a new wick . I'm vaping NN that I washed out of empty 500 ml bottles w/ PG. I tuned it by ear to about 12 mg.

It tastes like heaven. Best flavor ever. If I could learn not to chain and to change wicks often this would be the ticket. Can't vape long before feeling the nic.

Using my memory bank and different coil/wick builds here. 12 mg MFS had a faint sweet peppery taste I enjoyed. The NN has a clean faint peppery taste with no sweet taste and I am picking up some PG undertones. If I found that nic was good for me I would work my nic back up so I could vape 12 mg again.

As it is I'm getting nic overload and need to step it down.

I think I like bland real flavors.
