...and also try your other ingredients by themselves. i.e.: try your VG and PG straight up. Get to know all your base ingredients :) (well, NOT a flavoring - that would be bad...worse in the case of alcohol based flavors ).

Had I not done this, I would probably have been scratching my head for a good bit wondering why my juice tasted like crap when I mixed it with Humco VG (bleck!)
Thanks Cyrus Vap and wolcen, that's something that seems obvious, but I never thought of it

I've been using using nicotine base from Xtreme vaping since last summer. I'm still very happy with it. My preferred juice is unflavored.

I bought a 250 ml bottle of XTR 100 mg 100% VG two weeks ago and got got around to making a liter of 25 mg VG base yesterday, Also made 126 ml of 20 mg for immediate use. Ah, good to have unflavored again after two days of using flavored juices.

The 100 mg from XTR is clear and shows a faint yellow tint if I look down into a full 250 bottle. I think that color is from the white plastic bottle. Seen from the side of a 100 ml graduated cylinder (about 1" in diameter) the XTR is clear and colorless. Looking down into the filled cylinder (over a foot long) the XTR is still clear and colorless.

Everyone taste things differently. I use only Humco Glycerin USP (CVS drug store brand) and it's just great.

250 ml of XTR 100 mg VG base is $98. The same amount of RTS 100 mg is less than half the price at $45. Why do I buy the XTR?

It's a superb product.

Here's how I look at the price difference. I used to pay $250 a month for cigarettes. I pay $95 for at least 18 months worth of XTR nicotine base. I'm already saving a ridiculous amount of money with XTR. Saving an extra $53 doesn't matter that much over 18 months if I'm satisfied with the XTR.

I'm going to order some nic from XTreme Vaping today - thanks for the suggestion.

Once it arrives I will have nic from WL, RTS, MFS (in both PG and VG) and XTR on hand . .will do an unflavored taste test and post my thoughts.

Although . . I can say for sure the MFS nic makes me sick. I have tried this lastest bottle twice now with a few days in between with exactly the same result. But I will still taste it again - maybe just a puff or 2. .for science!

Have you tried the nic from Wizard Labs? I find the quality to be outstanding and I like the fact that I find it tasteless.

I have been exclusively using Wizard's Nic almost since I started DIY. I Like it. Crystal Clear and good throat hit. Highly recommended. If their "in the lab" quality control is anything like their packaging it's got to be great. I have never gotten anything from anyone else that has been packaged as well.

Wolcen, thank you for your input. I agree with you 100%

I'm aware ......

Wizard Labs has been on my radar for a while, and I would love to try both their standard and Ice line. I wouldn't want you to part with your sauce though, especially if you like it, though I'm grateful for the offer, that's very kind of you.

If you're willing to wait a bit, i'll likely have some of that, and xtreme vaping, for a 6 way comparison?

That;s why I asked awhile back about Wiz's VG, If they're using Humco, I'd buy my own "Now" VG and be mixing the best with the best. ( or what "I" think of as the best)

_ Note- not a knock against Humco or WL using it. Which VG does DOW make/Supply??

If you dig into the ECF search function for Humco you will find a post that copies a letter from Humco stating their Glycerin USP is entirely made from vegetable sources.

This is very old news. Surprised people are still arguing about this.

Glycerin USP is the highest purity grade of glycerin available.

Look at post #53. Humco states their Glycerin USP is vegetable derived.

Fair point, and I'll try to remember that as I have unconditionally put down Humco elsewhere.

I'll try to remember so say that to me, Humco has a taste that I've not gotten in VG from Now, RTS, or WL...not a good taste either.

What do you guys think about post #10. I've seen that same post on several forums but he's the only person I've read stating that all USP VG in the US is made by 1 manufacturer - HUMCO.

Just pointing out a distinction: it says "All OTCglycerine,USP is made by 1 single manufacturer, HUMCO".

I believe the ones referenced (RiteAid, CVS, as well as Walmart, etc) do all actually carry Humco brand or store re-branded VG made by Humco. I don't at all take that statement above to mean, nor would I ever believe, essentially "all VG is made by Humco". Pretty sure Proctor & Gamble, DOW Chem, etc all make their own VG products. NOW is definitely not made by Humco unless NOW has magically found a way to remove the taste I get from Humco, but then again, they don't actually place "USP" on their label [and they classify their product as "food grade" IIRC].

Well I just learned a lot of new things reading back several pages and am very grateful to all:)

I sometimes sneeze and have coughing fits assuming it's from too much PG in my ejuices...
Am I to understand that even VG nic juices could be making me sneeze due to the "type" of nicotine they are extracted from?

Pepper makes me sneeze... so you are saying some nicotines have a pepper-like effect?
...and some people enjoy it? :p

still so much to learn and experiment with lol

I just recently decided to try diy and took advantage of the 20% off nic at MFS. I bought 2, 500ml of 36mg 50/50 base. Of course I bought it before reading this thread.. I thought since wizard labs was recommending it then it must be good. I hope I like it since I ordered 1000ml of it..LOL.. I did order 120ml of the same 36mg 50/50 from ecigexpress to try it out since i was ordering a bunch of flavors. I vape at 18mg and do enjoy a medium throat hit, but I don't like tobacco flavors. I mostly prefer coffee, caramel, mocha, and pepperminty menthol types.

I wonder if adding something like the smooth flavoring would help if I find the MFS nic too harsh? I am looking forward to making some of my own juices and I will post back my experiences between the two nics from a total newbs perspective once I have a chance to try them both. If it wasn't for ECF and threads like this I would have never thought I could attempt DIY. I have such a limited taste preference that it makes since to just learn how to make a few that I like myself.
