Am I the only one, thinking we need to know more?
This is going back a few weeks I think. My recollection is that there was a confusion between solvent used in extraction, typically an alkane like hexane, and the solvent used to do the GC-MS analysis, which is either CDCl3, CHCl3 or CCl4. This is what was read in the GC-MS analysis page as the "Solvent", but that is irrelevant to us in general...just the solvent used to dilute the sample for GC-MS, not the nicotine-extraction solvent. I've not seen halocarbons used for nic extraction.
yeah - that was my mistake - I don't know why I even tried to read the lab reports being that I never got more than a C in any science class, lol.
BUT - I really wish I did know more. What bugs me is . .if all these products are 99% pure . . how can they be so different. What makes one nic tasteless and another peppery? Why do some have more throat hit than others?
When you're dealing with 100mg nic that is 99% pure nic and VG . . .that 1% impurity (or water or whatever) is soooo tiny in a 12mg e-juice. .how can 1 nic make me cough and give me a sore throat but another tastes smooth and causes me no issues? What the heck is in that <1%?
And THAT is the $64,000 question! I do not know. I've asked many manufacturers, and they do not know either. There must be a chemical basis of some kind. The other thing is that quantitatively measuring the amount of some compound, say one of the nic-oxides, means making a standard of it to compare to. Without a standard, you cannot say other than there is trace amounts...of SOMETHING. So even GC-MS is very limited in giving full info about a particular nicotine sample.
There is much we do not know.

It's been amazing to me to learn about flavorings too. We get our flavor chemicals diluted in Alcohol, PG, water, whatever, and some of them even at under %1 of these solutions in our juice are very easy to notice. Crazy how strong some chemicals are.

I've been trying to find a quality nic place with some Boges and Egos with no luck. I hardly buy anything and still can't shop at just one supplier, lol.
So I looked at the COST OF VAPING CHART that someone put together here so I can pick some good suppliers and quickly realized that the chart is ineffective for us pre-mixed folks.
At 6ml aday using 12mg pre-mixed 70/30, it's Very much cheaper at WL than the other places. Enough so that I can go anywheres to get my ego/boge fix and still do great.

Not sure of exactly what products you are looking for, but ECX carries boge cartomizers and ego products and if I remember correctly their diy nic has been spoken of well here in this thread.
TY Casey, I hadn't tried their nic before. Have you, and how have you liked it?
I get my Boge LR cartos from Litecig. Buy 10 boxes of 5 cartos, and it comes out to about $5.50 a box, give or take a bit. I've heard of others getting better deals, but I like giving Litecig my business. And never had a DOA. They have a bunch of Ego gear too. Prices there are average to good.
ECX nic is very clean, a bit of taste, reasonable pepper. Good purity and accuracy. FYI: the VG nic is thinned with some water, so for unflavored vaping, I add about 10% water instead of the usual 20%.
Joyetech, I started with two kits that I got from litecig in june. Everything still works.
No, I haven't used their nic ( I buy from Wizard Labs), but they are one the shops I use for flavoring and other things and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. I mentioned them because I remembered them being spoken well of for their nic, as in Kurt's post just above.
