Dont get me wrong, i SUPPORT and love e-smoking. I am opposing any bans!

But read this please:

The lethal dose of N for an adult might be something around 50mg. Roughly. There are numbers around ranging from only 10mg LD (lethal dose for a newborn etc..)...but based on calculations we can just assume that it gets really, really dangerous in the area of 40-50mg of N for ADULTS.

If you get a 30ml/24mg Vhigh liquid you get a litle bottle with a proud
700ish (!!!) mg of Nicotine in it. (24mg/g...let's assume that 1g equals 1ml)

700mg of Nic in that one bottle can without a doubt kill 15-17 ADULTS.

And this you can easily buy and order by mail!

Some of the china vendors dont even have children's safety caps on....

As for pure nicotine:

With some horror i read in the DIY thread. I have to admit its very interesting....there is this guy who heard about some dubios source of Nic, from Poland or something. PURE NICOTINE.

1ml (=1000mg) fluid equals about 24 drops. I made a rough estaimate using a syringe which holds 1ml.
1 (ONE) "drop" pure Nic would therefore equal about 42mg. (Assuming again that the liquid has the same weight as water)

So...only one drop of nic is pretty sure to kill a grown up man!!

This stuff is so potent that even absorption through the skin is an issue...and just THINKING about someone "experimenting" with a bottle of pure nic...makes me kinda cringe.

Lol, good point, though I'm not really convinced by your math.

Wikipedia lists nicotine as having 1.01 g/cm³ (Nicotine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
So 1 ml of pure nicotine has 1010 mg in it.
If we accept the assertion of 50 mg of nicotine to kill an adult (I'd heard 60+) then 0.0495ml of pure nicotine will kill an adult.

That is a very very small amount. If you guys are working with pure nicotine, be extremely careful. Like wear gloves, and a gas mas, and dilute that stuff asap, lol.

well sure the liquids wont have the same weight as water, but overall i think the math should be right +/- tolerances. . It's like..a drop on your lips and you better go to a EM fast. I wouldn't even dream of handling pure nicotine. I would also not buy a DIY liquid from someone who is not a 100% certified lab professional.

A few things you should note:

-Only a lab with the proper documents could ever import pure nicotine. It's deadly and controlled for a reason. It also doesn't apply to the DIY for ecigs.

-The highest level of nicotine that I've ever seen was about 3.5% nicotine. If you get a few drops on your lips you can wipe it off, lick it off or just swallow it. It does nothing.

-If you spill a vial on yourself, just wipe it off. I've never heard of anyone even getting a bit of a buzz from spilling it on themselves. I've done it and I've read of others and there was no effect.

-A household is filled with many dangerous products that can kill..bleach, drain cleaner, etc. Hazardous products such as this one should be treated with respect.

-I agree on the child proof packaging but be aware that 1 in 5 children can easily open them. They are not a substitute for proper handling by parents.

Life is full of dangers and dangerous things. It is necessary to exercise care when using them, whether it be oven cleaner, a motor car or a kitchen knife. Parents have a particular responsibility to keep dangerous things out of the way of children. These are general rules that apply to nicotine as well. Banning everything that is potentially hazardous is not merely impossible but undesirable in a free society.

one drop of 24mg eliquid would only have 1mg of nicotine (using the 24 drops per ml measurement you posted). The nicotine strength of eliquid is measured in milligrams per milliliter (with the exception of one supplier whose eliquid is slightly weaker). So, 24mg eliquid has 24mg per ml.

I do agree, though, that it is a concern. Especially when dealing with higher strength eliquid and when dealing with bottles of the stuff. It's an absolute must that people keep this stuff away from kids and pets. The carts as well because those could be easily swallowed by a small child.

Child proof packaging is a must, but I think of it as a "will slow them down so that you can get to them" solution. My 3yr old can get into medicine bottles in approximately 1 min from picking them up8-o.
Forget about putting on top of fridge or in a cupboard, found him on top of the fridge one day, and had dragged a stool onto the kitchen counter so could get into the cupboard. Never ever underestimate the resourcefulness of kids.
Everything prescription/non-prescription and my e-cig supplies go into my safe to be safe.

yes...that later example was for one drop of "pure liquid nic" where a rough estimation comes to "1 drop == 42mg Nic"
