That's exactly what's been happening to me! I started smoking cigs when I was 14, by age 17 I was at 1 ppd by age 25 at 1.5 ppd. I'm 33 and have been smoking 1.5 ppd for years now (and developed health problems because of it.)

I vaped several years ago, quit smoking for 9 months, but relapsed back onto analogs. Decided to start vaping again with no intention of quitting.

3 weeks in, I am down for 1.5ppd of cigs to just 4 or 5 per day!

I prefer vaping, and I know eventually I will kick those 4 or 5 cigs per day out of my life for good.

Happy vaping :vapor:

I tried to go the 1/2 vape 1/2 smoke route back in November of 2012. I bought a V2 kit, and while I liked it, it didn't stick. FFWD to 12 days ago, when I decided that I really needed to switch off the analogs (for daughter, and health). I ordered some V2 blank cartos, and some juice, hoping that it was better than the stock juice that V2 sells. Well, it was, so last Monday night I had my last cig. I don't consider it "quitting", per se. I think of it more like switching. That said, I immediately started researching a better product than the V2's, and ordered a set of Vision Spinners last Wednesday. What an improvement! Either way, I'm glad to be off the cigarettes.

In desperate need of quick advice. Could some of you please chime in on whether or not either one of these two devices would be better than the other for a semi experienced user?

Jet Black | Triton Tank System Starter Kit | Halo Cigs

Or:

The iTaste starter kit? The box style kind. I tested it out and was impressed. The reviews are somewhat mixed and Im not sure about which route to go.

I was walking around a mall yesterday and ran into an iTaste booth. I learned a lot more then I had previously when I got my Reo mini a few years back.

Any input is great! Thanks guys :)

Maybe this is not a popular opinion around here: But I don't think it matters whether one smokes analogs or not.

What matters is frequency: If someone only smokes one cigarette during their entire life span, I assure you that the one cigarette had no impact on their health whatsoever, a few cigarettes a day most likely will have an impact, but nobody's saying that you can't aspire to smoke analogs even less frequently (like once a week).

I begun vaping 9 days ago and currently I'm at 1 cigarette a day, but I feel what vaping has given me the most is a regained sense of control, even if I do smoke that 1 cigarette a day, I don't feel like I'm going to relapse into smoking a pack a day, I don't think any other nicotine substitution would have been able to offer me that.

Your opinion is very popular with me.
If that matters.

I had the same experience, I tried the blu kit about 4 years ago and it never worked for me. I'm 24 years old and have been smoking since I was 16, multiple failed attempts at quitting and I had come to the realization that I was probably gonna be a life time smoker.
About 2 weeks ago I was laying in bed next to my wife with our 18 month old daughter and my wife made me get off the bed and shower because she couldn't stand the smell of my cigarettes, I started browsing the web and came upon this site,I had no idea how advanced pv 's had come, after a chat with the wife she agreed and said if you're gonna use it go for it. ordered the kgo kit with some lr cartos from smok tech to get that nice throat hit. Received the kit 5 days ago and haven't smoked a cigarette since, I got the pv to help me cut back, but I instantly became addicted to it, I tried a hit from an analog and the taste was horrible. I am glad to say I have quit smoking much to the surprise of my wife, my family, and mostly me. Next step is to start cutting the nicotine and I'll keep vaping for life.
Thanks to all the amazing people on this forum for sharing their knowledge and unknowingly helping me quit, I'm sure my daughter will thank you when she gets to grow up with her daddy around

These stories are great! I love reading them. I've told my story before but I'll go again.

I had smoked for almost 25 years, 1.5 packs a day. Tried to quit many times using patches, gum, Wellbutrin, cold turkey. Never took. I had given up trying to quit and just decided that even though I didn't want to be a smoker until I died, it looked like i was going to be.

In the summer of 2011 my neighbor kept telling me I had to try these electronic cigarette things. She smoked newports like a chimney, but said these were pretty good. She was still smoking, but she kept insisting that I should give them a try. I was skeptical and kept putting her off with, "oh yeah, maybe I'll check those out sometime". She kept asking me every time she saw me, so I figured what the hell. I was already wasting so much money on gum for when I couldn't smoke. Might as well waste a little more.

I went to the drug store that she recommended on August 16th, 2011 and picked up a 'Fuma'. It was a little cig alike with one battery and some expensive tobacco flavored cartomizers. Cost me about $50. I felt a little guilty wasting this money, especially since it was the day before my husband's birthday. i felt like i was buying myself a stupid present for his birthday, lol. I was still extremely skeptical that these would do anything, but thought maybe I could cut down a little at best. Amazingly, I only had one cigarette the rest of the day. I got online and started doing research. I stumbled on ECF while looking for cheaper options for cartomizers. I clung to the idea that the cig alike would be okay for a while, but after a few days charging those little batteries was starting to get on my nerves and I ordered a better set up. Even with the dinky little things I had still only smoked 2 partial cigarettes, mostly just to see if they would taste bad (they did). Since that time I have not smoked or, or even wanted a cigarette. Blows me away.

Ironically, my neighbor who had recommended the ecigs to me did not have the same success. I tried to share all the stuff I was learning with her. The better set ups, refillable juice, finding the appropriate nicotine level. She was also still convinced that the prefilled cartomizers equalled 2 packs of cigarettes and would use one long beyond the time when they could possibly have any juice in them. She must have been smoking filler. She was no longer really interested in the ecigs. Anyway, she was already terminal with cancer (not lung), so I don't know how much motivation to quit/switch I would have had in a similar situation. Sadly, she passed away in July of 2012, but I will always be grateful to her for nagging me relentlessly to try these things out.

I have both, the Triton and the itaste MVP (box mod).

The Triton Tank is dual 650 mAh ego-style batteries and T2 style clearomizers. Great set-up for a beginner coming off cog-alikes. The batteries last about 8 hours on average and charge back up in about 3 hours. The tanks hold about 2.4 ml of liquid. Decent vapor, somewhat muted flavor and TH.

The itaste MVP is variable voltage with a 2600 mAh built-in battery, and usually comes with 2 iclear16 dual coil clearos (or 1 iclear30). The clearos hold 1.6ml of liquid, offer a tight, warm vape and great flavor depending on your voltage settings. The battery will last moderate to heavy vaper (like me) about 2 and 1/2 days, and takes about 6-8 hours to charge; but the MVP can be used as a passthru if not fully depleted. And the MVP can be used to charge your cellphone :)

If I had to choose between 1 or the other and I already had a back-up device I would choose the MVP. More power, VV, and lasts longer. Also has 510/ego threading for more choices of toppers.

If it was my first and only device, the Triton Wins, since there are 2 batteries, and I can charge one while using the other -- it has it's own backup. Choice of toppers is limited due to kgo/vgo/808 threading.

I still use both of mine daily.

If cigarettes were safe, i would smoke a hole through my wallet.

I tried e-cigs without the intentions of quitting, just out of curiosity. Lately I have been trying to curb my smoking habits by vaping, but am only successful when i'm home alone. When at work, or with friends, or at the bars, vaping just does not give me the instant rush of good feelings and satisfaction that cigarettes give, whereas home alone the lightheaded dizzy feeling of vaping high nicotine juices can somewhat keep me from lighting up.

When the day comes when I am 100% motivated to quitting smoking, vaping may be my only hope.

So I've had my vape for a few weeks now, this is round 2 of this endeavor after experimenting with them previously a couple years ago. My how things have changed and improved! The last few weeks has been a constant stream of acquisitions with more on the way actually. Currently using my Telescopic Sigelei Zmax V3 with a cartotank and some fabulous Butterscotch liquid from MtBakerVapor. Several other tanks I'm switching in an out...but I digress.

As soon as I got my lavatube v2 from Volcano (now 1 of 3 mods)...my smoking dwindled from about a pack a day to less than 5. I found myself having to remind myself to smoke analogs. After about a week it was down to 2 or 3. Over the last 3 to 4 days I've had a few drags off of one analog and it is already starting to taste horrid, and it was more out of some ill-perceived need than desire. I told myself this whole 2nd attempt at vaping was to help myself cut back...I'm not quitting smoking.

I'm not quitting smoking...but yet I find myself stopping. Its almost an unconscious decision. Quitting has this stigma of deprivation that makes you want to rebel against it. Whatever this is that I am doing, I find myself with no desire for stinkies, and its quite the awesome feeling. If I do find myself wanting one though, I'll have one...just to remind myself how awful they are.

Who knows, maybe I'll never "quit". But at least at this pace, I'm on a path to permanently stopping. :vapor:

Definitely this:

Quitting has this stigma of deprivation that makes you want to rebel against it.

Not to mention, almost cause panic attacks in some of us. :)

(I'm only half kidding)

I consciously chose to not think of this as a "quit". It's I like vaping better. If I have to leave the door open to keep from the panic or deprivation feeling or whatever the heck it is... oh well. I live in a kind of indeterminate state of being a smoker who just doesn't want one right now.

Seems to work. My "right now" keeps getting longer. I could smoke. Cigs are easy to get. They're just not as... good as they used to be and seem more trouble than they're worth.

I say pay attention to enjoying your vape. Seems the more I liked vaping, the less I bothered with the... you know... those things...

This, exactly.

People ask me if I quit. My reply is, "Well I haven't had a cigarette in XX days." It's definitely easier to say. Also I still have a pack with 9 cigarettes in it in my glovebox, it was 11 a month ago, my boyfriend has bummed two. It's my security blanket. Just like the soda in my cabinet at work. I stopped drinking soda (okay, I drink one Monster a day, but I cut out the rest!) but I leave that bottle there, I know it's there if I need it, but I keep going for the water on my desk instead.

I have never quit in the formal sense but I haven't smoked a regular cigarette in over 2-1/2 years.
When you find the magic combination of nicotine strength, flavor and whatever delivery system you like....smoking just seems to stop on its own. To this day I still miss one now and then but the thought soon passes and I'm on my way. I always encourage people to take it easy on themselves. this is a major transition.

PS* I had an open pack near my front door for almost a year before I threw it out :)

I smoked for about 30 years, with a couple of separate years off when I managed to stop. I convinced myself at times that I enjoyed smoking, and sometimes I truly did.. until I started vaping. Since I started - a few months back - I tried one time to smoke an analogue and it was horrible. Vaping has completely spoiled me. I can get some nicotine, which I think is an ok thing in moderation, but now I get truly great flavor without the health risk, stinky clothes, breath, etc. Not to mention the stigma that goes along with smoking analogues these days. In short, I have absolutely, genuinely, no desire to smoke. I also don't really plan to stop vaping. It's relatively safe and enjoyable, so why not?

Man you guys have some amazing will power. If i even had one cigarette in my possession i would probably smoke it. I had to cut cigarettes out completely. I tell people i quit because im proud of it. I was on the road to death. After i got out of 6 years in the army, i literally sat in a computer chair 24/7 playing world of warcraft for probably 4 years just chain smoking like 2 packs a day. When i finally moved away, the walls in that tiny room were brown and yellow. My computer was yellow. I felt ashamed of myself.

Anyways now im in college and i quit smoking started vaping, i quit playing the video games and im working out again. Ill never go back to those days because i was in a deep dark hole. I did alot of damage to myself but im turning it around now, your body will tell you when its time to say goodbye to cigs and when that happens you just gotta follow through. For me it was just my time so it didnt seem too hard actually.

After 15 years of analogs I decided to use the same approach. I was going to use both to save a little money and my health. Three days after my first evod on a twist with some wonderful honey nut tobacco from the vapor chef, I threw a 3/4 pack of my beloved camel Turkish golds in the bin and never looked back. Two months later and I have not only quit the stinkies myself but also recruited 4 other friends to this ever growing vaping army. I'm always excited to give someone their first vape and then inevitably start telling them where they can get this stuff. Seems everyone has tried it before but it was years ago with those awfull pathetic cig-a-likes. Evod= $5, ego twist= &25, sampler pack of juice= $20!! Living an extra 15 years= priceless
