Hey All,

New to the world of E-Smoking and am looking forward to becoming an active member. I recently purchased a sampler kit as well as some polyester batting to fill my own cartridges. My issue is that I only seem to be getting "smoke" on the first inhale. After that I still get a bit of taste but no visible smoke. If I leave the cigarette and then come back later once again I will get the smoke on the first hit but not on the others. Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong here? The smoke is the best part of lighting up in a bar and turning heads lol.

Thanks in advance for all your sage advice!

Hello, and welcome to ECF. A few more details would be helpful, such as what type/brand of PV you are using. From what you describe it could be.....too much juice in the atty....or not enough juice in the atty... or a bad battery..or bad juice ...or just a bad E-cig.

Btw, its not really smoke. Its more of a vapor.

Not sure what brand...bought the liquid from the sample kit on mypvshop.com

Someone will for sure know more than I do, however when I looked at the extra cartridges they all already have filler in them so there's no need to put anymore in there unless you pulled it out.
I also don't think there's enough juice in the cartridge... you do get a vapor from the first hit, then it takes a little bit for it to soak up again, right?

hey pickel.. so all you did was add more liquid?

not to tag onto the thread but i'm having the same problem. joye510. starter kit. used the carts that came in the box. bought liquid.

the very first cart.. i just smacked it on and had a decent smoke.. but then things went downhill real quickly.. i've been so frustrated with it that it just sits in the desk drawer now.. :(

the cart's full. it's brimming to the top.
i've refilled.. changed carts.. refluffed polyester..
i get the taste.. a bit of the throat kick (which btw.. is it supposed to make you get all flemmy -- more so than analogs?).. but no smoke!

any ideas? help appreciated for the newb!

take off the atomizer and blow through it while holding a paper towel at the other end to catch the juice coming out. When no more juice comes out, screw it back on and add 3 drops of ejuice directly into the atomizer where the mesh hump (the bridge) sticks up. Make sure your cart is not over-full, it should look like a slushy on top. Pop on the cart and vape.

I don't like cart because they don't wick up the juice very well so it's likely that after about 15 minutes of vaping you'll need to take off the cart, top off the liquid so it looks like a slushy again and drip 2 or 3 more drops on the atomizer bridge again.

You can make them work better by using the blue foam in your carts instead of the stock filler that they come with:

Trouble with carts is why a lot of us turned to dripping (2-4 drops directly into the atomizer, either with a blank cart with no stuffing or with a drip tip). It's enough for 5-7 hits and is more consistent. Another option you may look into is a bottom feeder mod. There is a lot of info on the forum about both options. I know there is a huge amount of info on here and it's a lot to weed through, but with a little trial and error you'll find the combination of device, technique and juice that works for you and even trying a lot of different things ends up being less expensive in the long run than smoking is. Plus it doesn't stink, is healthier, and tastes a lot better. It's been a year and 9 months since I started and I'm thrilled I switched, even on the days when it takes more fiddling to get the perfect vape. Welcome to a whole new world and welcome to the forum.

Your e-cig is wicking really slowly. I'm going to guess that you have automatic batteries so that limits what you can do as a remedy. You can try doing the blue foam cart mod as I mentioned before, but to be honest it sounds like you might prefer an e-cig that uses cartomizers instead of the atomizer/cartridge kind that you have now.

You can get a cheap kr8808d-1 starter kit for $35 :
