I was told yesterday that we are not allowed to use are e-cigs in my factory any more. Yet the always complain about the analog butts laying around out side. To top it off my plant dose a lot if welding so there is always smoke in the building. So my question to every one here is what can I do to change there minds and get them to allow us to vape inthe building

You have two options. You can abide by the rule or seek employment elsewhere. Currently there is so much misinformation out about PVs and vaping that many companies are taking the easy route and just lumping PVs in with cigarettes. Not fair, we know this. But, until there is more acceptence of vaping this will more than likely be the norm. If you really want to help, the best thing for you to do is to join CASAA. At the present time, it is the largest "voice" we have.

Anti-tobacco has public health officials convinced that nicotine is dangerous. This is what the chairman of the Saugus Massachusetts Board of Health said to me Monday evening when I attended a meeting to attempt to fight their intended ban on the use of electronic cigarettes where smoking is banned:

“I can appreciate your passion,” said Vinard. “But it’s nicotine and nicotine is addictive and it causes addictive personalities. We have a ban in this community that while I’m around … the ban will not be lifted for any nicotine products or smoking.”

The entire article is here The Daily Item: Saugus board hears e-cigarettes backer

It was difficult for me not to ask him how he could make such a statement with a straight face. But this is the kind of mentality these supposed "Health Professionals" are basing their decisions on. When I asked the board if I could demonstrate my PV (I had a purple eGo and a purple mini Reo with me, to show them that these devices do not resemble a tobacco cigarette), they all emphatically said NO. The didn't want to risk being exposed to any nicotine!

It's really backwards. They are testing for nicotine because smoking causes health issues that raise health insurance premiums for employers. But adults who are turning to harm reduction products are being classified as smokers because these people refuse to acknowledge that it's tobacco smoke that is the problem. We're trying to improve our health, and by no longer smoking we HAVE done that. Unfortunately what we are really fighting is ignorance.

I've just been told the same at my work as the original poster. I've been vaping away quite happily at work for 3 months with my supervisors permission. He even checked with Human Resources on the company policy. Now they have back tracked and reversed the descision. "E cigs are not to be used on site. If you want to use them then go to the smoking shelters."

We do have a company ethics line so i think i'll give them a call. I'm in the UK but work for an American company.

Unfortunately I think it's no longer about "banning" smoking, but rather the "perception" of smoking. The powers that be are lumping anything that "looks" like smoking into the same category and it's not until pv's ( I refuse to call them e cigarettes) are more mainstream that things may possibly change.

These places passing vape bans are only doing it so smokers can't say "hey that guy can do it, why can't I? I just step outside with everyone else, and I've even managed to gain a few vaping converts. Even so, our pv's are considered tobacco products, so when in Rome.

Interesting...I would bet my last dollar, that even if you had zero nic juice loaded up...straight vg from wal-mart, they STILL would have refused your request. It has little to do with health and everything to do with CONTROL.

It is all about the money. BT and BP will be losing too much of it with so many ex-smokers on the books. They are going to fight this tooth and nail. I tried all the other things to get this monkey off my back and failed at all of them. They are wanting to treat this like med MJ and make it illegal because they don't want people growing their own pain reliever. It isn't about what is good for us. It is about how much money they will lose if we don't but their drugs or their tobacco products. Such a pity that it has to come to this for the almighty dollar.

Hopefully you can talk to someone higher up and get this resolved but have to accept their decision or find another job. Sad but so true.

I would not have been able to resist asking "So you are banning eggplant... potatoes... tomatoes... cauliflower?" Causes addictive personalities??? WTH? Yeah, we all have heard the stories about how people start with cigs and end up hooked on smack. (Note dripping sarcasm)

I just started vaping in the last 3 months and currently analog free for the last 38 days. I didn't hide my vaping in the workplace nor did I flaunt it. I did encourage its use to fellow smokers as a means to bring their habit to an end. Not one person has asked me to NOT vape in our building therefore I have. I will not vape in the office areas of our building as a courtesy to them and not to arowse a disturbance but will continue to do so in the production and warehouse areas.

Unfortunatly even that will not last much longer as our production/warehouse facility will be moving to OH and I will not be moving with them.

As with many new trends it will take a while to be accepted in the non-smokers worlds as well as the general population.
Till then I'll keep on keepin on..... VAPIN...!!!

Just curious.

Did you smoke before you started vaping?

And if you did. Did you smoke at the company your are working for now?
