Hi.

Before you say read around, I have.. and there is a staggering amount of info.. 8-o

I am a non smoker, nicotine holds no interest to me, but I am thinking about a few flavours and a 510 (wondering if I can vape caffiene too.. THAT would be handy for a techie like me! vape-a-coffee!)

I am happy to make my own flavours too, thinking of the simple food product based ones.

I just need a basic rundown, is is safe and is there a way to minimise costs, ie: I read atomisers only last a month or so, whats your experience?

Thanks for your help,
~FoxGirl

No one knows if it is safe. Safer than cigarettes? Sure. But it's a safer alternative for CURRENT smokers. We don't know the effects of inhaling these flavorings & other stuff. What's the point in vaping without nicotine? Just for tasting? Cmon. Drink a coffee. Have a red bull. Don't start vaping for no real reason. Our lungs want oxygen--not water vapor. In the end you make your own choices. I can't stop you from making a bad one.

From the point of view of a NON smoker. One who NEVER smoked, not an EX smoker.
Ecigs ARE dangerouse (for a NON NEVER WAS smoker).
They have nicotine.

And even if you use 0NIC...

putting ANYTHING other than AIR in your lungs is bound to have some negative impact.

Ecigs are for SMOKERS looking for a safER alternative to cancer causing cigarettes. No one has ever claimed Ecigs are "Safe", we are only saying they're a He!! of alot better than cigarettes.

So in short, don't start Vaping.

I started when I was 12 or 13 and stupid! Emphasis on STUPID! That was 40+ years ago. If I had the opportunity to vape or smoke now, and become addicted to nicotine I WOULD NOT DO IT!!! Nicotine or no nicotine, flavors ain't enough to start messing with what you have now.

Also, picking up vaping could possibly cause you to develop the oral fixation aspect we all suffer from. What happens if ecigs get banned?

great point

I regret ever smoking too. The only reason I(and everyone else here) doesnt regret using ecigs is because it was a safer switch. Other I think 1 day we would look back and regret this too...

OP, if the flavors interest you go buy gum

First of all, welcome! ECF is quite a warm and welcoming community... I think you just pushed a sensitive spot and they are trying to help.

When looking at the safety of something, it is best to get a big picture view. You can look at whatever Australia's health department is called says about them. You can also look at the individual ingredients in the juice.

I took a quick peek at Wikipedia (I know its really a legit source) and it says the sale of e-cigs with nic is illegal.

Enjoy!

I was a smoker for almost 30 years and e-cigs were the only thing that have helped me keep away from those nasty coffin nails. But, for a person who has never smoked, what's the point?

If you want flavor get some candy. As was mentioned, e-cigs are too new to be able to determine what the possible effects could be on you, even with no nicotine. Why start something that you really do not need?

We are all just looking out for you because we care, the ECF is a family, and we don't want family to get hurt.

Ok here is my take on this question:

Ive never smoked ... and i wouldn't start just because they started making caffeine free .... does that make any sense?

If your looking to vaping as a substitution for a pre existing addiction then go for it... but don't start a habit "nico free" or not....

I would say dont do it,
and dont use food flavorings from your kitchen, you really have to know what you are doing
Vaping vanilla food flavoring is poisenous!!Some have vanillin in them, others may not be suitable either, food flavorings are used in ecigs but some cannot be used, you have to know which ones are safe.

I do some work at the local hobby shop over the weekends. I had a non smoker ask me about my e-cig and after I explained my current vape flavor was tastyfinger (TastyVapor's Butterfinger like flavor) he looked at me and asked if it was possible for him to vape 0 nic juices as a way to cut food cravings and loose weight.

My initial reaction was that without nicotine it shouldn't be too bad but I'd have to think about it more. Glad this thread got posted. I do know vaping tastyfinger at 24mg strength does cut down on my cravings for snacks and food in general, but I know nicotine is an appetite suppressant all by itself so that makes it hard to gauge how much vaping 0 nic juices would help.

I'm thinking not for general weight loss but I know this guy and he's complained that chewing gum never curbed his appetite and calorie free sweets and candies didn't do the trick for him so perhaps in his case it might be a way to substitute one addictive behavior which is bad for him (always eating sweets and snacks) for another (vaping). Any ideas here?

It's just as likely he would then have two habits instead of one.
