My husband, who is a lifelong nonsmoker, barely tolerated my analog smoking. Since 3 months ago, my daughter and I have been vaping and neither of us has had an analog since then. He is very happy about that, BUT has started to complain about certain smells from the menthol my daughter uses, and certain "coffee milkshake" flavors that I tried. It's a pretty severe reaction....his lips turn numb and he gets all congested. So now he wants us both to only vape outside, when one of the things I LOVED about vaping was that I no longer had to go outside and freeze or stand in the rain, or so I thought. Has anyone else had this problem with a spouse or whatever? My husband does have pretty bad perfume allergies and I could never use potpourri or scented candles in the house. Or is there a flavor that wouldn't cause these reactions? Analog smoking never bothered him, he just didn't like it............LOL.

Sorry you're going through this. While it isn't as much fun, you may want to try some unflavored juice in the house in a separate carto/atty. Some of the flavors I use I do notice tend to linger and this may be what's triggering his allergies. hth & good luck! ;)

By unflavored juice, do you mean "tobacco" flavors? I wasn't aware there were any totally unflavored juices?? Where is a good source for unflavored?? TIA

+1 to what vchick said. I was going to suggest the unflavored.

I am sorry that you are going through this and hope you can find a compromise with your husband. Maybe just another room instead of having to go out in bad weather. That is just not right. I don't know your situation but would think he would be happy that you are going down a much healthier path and would work with you. Just my :2c:

Okay I just looked on some sites for "unflavored" juice, and apparently it is straight nicotine? It seems to only come in strengths of 24mg, 36mg etc. I have been using between 10 and 12mg with my flavors, so is this something you have to mix with something else, or dilute with something else? If so, what do you mix/dilute with?? I wouldn't want to go up to that strength when I'm used to lower, and not really sure I want to fool with straight nicotine. Again, thanks and sorry for the dumb questions................:)

My husband can't stand any flavor in his vape. We buy unflavored nic juice from myfreedomsmokes.com

I get the 24mg and dilute it with vg for my husband and a mixture of pg/vg for me.

Here's one you may want to try, VaporBomb has lower strengths w/ratio options;

Unflavored E Liquid

Ouch !!! 9.99 for 30mls seems a bit spendy to me. I noticed they don't have 100% VG. Just curious as to why but I guess if I really wanted to know I would ask them :eek:)

Many, if not all, juice vendors will be glad to sell unflavored in any strength. This vendor sells unflavored in 100% PG or VG, 50/50 VG/PG, or 70/30 PG/VG in strengths of 0, 9, 12,18, 24, 36, or 48mg, AND $14.99 for 50ml.

I'm sure there are lots of deals out there.

Unflavored is not unpleasant at all, kind of sweet still (I use 70/30 so the VG would account for the sweetness).

EDIT : Forgot to mention; on most sites unflavored is not listed with the flavored juice (make sense?). It is listed, usually, under DIY supplies.

Thank you to everyone for these suggestions! I'm not ready to do DIY yet so if a vendor has this already done, I will definitely try it. One more question: if I go this route and get the stronger unflavored liquid and need to dilute with PG or VG............can someone direct me to a site that explains exactly how to do this, what ratios, etc in order to come up with about 12 mg in strength??

Here is a link to one e-Juice Calculater but you can search for more here on the ECF.

Calypso53, it's dimly possible that your husband is allergic to PG. You also might want to try 100% VG unflavored e-liquid.

The thing is, if it's a reaction to second hand PG, it's pretty darned extreme. It is in theatrical smoke in much stronger concentrations among a lot of other things. The OP mentioned specific flavors. So, I'd be more inclined to think along those lines. I've never encountered one but, there are people that have pretty extreme reactions just to the smell of some foods. Peanuts are known for that. If you read in the DIY forum, you'll find that there are some flavor enhancers in addition to the flavor itself that some vendors use. If it's a reaction to something like that, you'll never know what flavor will set it off.
